7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2022

Question 1: the auto stop start system went out last October or November and I couldn't get it into the shop with in the warranty because they wouldn't schedule it. After that in February my battery started dying and I had to replace my battery 5 times now. That's when starting in August all of my instrument cluster/panel would light up and it would start my lights on the inside of the car to flash, radio to start cracking and the doors locks switching back and forth. It then will start flashing the abs warning. The abs warning wont stay on but it will ding and flash about every 2-5 minutes. Then it will show the pull over safely vehicle ill shut off soon and begin locking up my front driver side tire and rip you into on coming traffic. Then it will start going into limp mode and then revving up on its own. Question 2: the tire being squeezed by the brake will rip you around and start turning the whole car into the other lane/ oncoming traffic. It will also start shutting down. Question 3: a mechanic at o'reilly's ran system diagnostic and then looked it up and saw that campaign 17v740000 and campaign 17v301000. Question 4: no. Question 5: the only issue started in October/ November of 2021 and that was the start stop system went out and the dealership wouldn't see me and told us not to worry because it wasn't important. Then the battery dying every couple of weeks and constantly needing jumped or replaced. Then came the the abs warning and then the whole car shutting down and locking the drivers wheel up in August.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2022

Engine hesitates on acceleration, throttle assembly warning light comes on, traction stability warning light comes on.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2021

My vehicle continually stalls when driving or at stop lights. Sometimes it will start back up other times I have to have it towed.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2021

When driving, the car will randomly not accelerate on the highway, will not accelerate when first driving after turning the vehicle on, or not accelerate after the vehicle reaches 40 mph or above. The transmission also has had, since first purchasing the vehicle, where it will randomly stall or hiccup before suddenly recatching and working correctly.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2021

The Jeep will randomly downshift so hard it will make a terrible sound while throwing all passengers forward. It also has done this shifting up as well but is more likely to do it while downshifting. Has already been brought to the dealership and was given a transmission update electronically but things were just as bad the day after I left the dealership so I can assume that the updates are not effective to handle this. From how hard it shifts it sounds like something is going to snap.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2020

Transmission shifts back n forth very bad. Only 71,649 miles. Need to fix it. Please.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2020

I was getting onto the freeway got up to 60 miles an hour I saw my alternator light blink then my traction control light came on and the motor lost all power and now they're telling me that my throttle body is bad and I see a lot of complaints on the internet about Jeep Compass throttle bodies.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2020

My low oil pressure light came on. I took it to get the oil changed as it was due for an oil change anyway. They told me my oil level was 3. 5 quarts low and that I needed to take the car to the dealership to have it looked at because it shouldn't be using that much oil between regular oil changes. I took it to Jeep where they didn't even look at the vehicle and just told me that this engine is known to burn that much oil between oil changes and Jeep deems it as acceptable because the owners manuel states to check oil levels at every fill up and add oil as needed to maintain a safe oil level. How is it even acceptable for a brand new 2017 vehicle to burn 3. 5 quarts of oil between regular oil changes? why does Jeep find it acceptable that I need to carry oil around in my car just in case it gets low? why are they not fixing this issue?!.

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2020

I was in the kwik trip carwash with my engine on and in park, when the vehicle, ( a 2017 Jeep Compass 4x4 high altitude), suddenly goes forward and the only way to stop was to turn the engine off. The brakes didn't stop it. This happened on July 5th 2020, at approximately 9:2o pm in shawano, WI.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2020

While driving the engine light comes on, input the car in park and then try to put it back in gear and it won't go. I shut the car off and it will then go in gear. This is the second time this has happened, as well as when I get to around 2500 rpm the transmission misses.

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2020

My Jeep has been having shifting problems, where it will stop and tell me I have to park before I shift as I am driving. The "d" on the shifter will blink and it will read I need to be in park to shift. I pull over, have to put my car in park, and then try to restart my vehicle. It takes several attempts to restart it. This has been happening as I am in the middle of driving and about to go to a light or stop sign. If you come to a stop, it completely brakes and you cannot move it. Thankfully, this has only happened on a street not the highway, but I am scared that it might. I have seen on the internet that this has been happening to other people with Jeeps, and it has escalated to a serious wreck. I do not want that to happen. I feel I should not have to pay for this problem, especially when my lease is almost up.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2020

Car has been repeatedly stalling when going into a turn or coming to a stop. Low oil pressure light will flash at times while driving. Stalls and low oil pressure warning flash sometimes occur at the same time, sometimes do not. Car recently stalled while going 35mph on a highway. Requires stopping car, putting into park, and then restarting, which takes 10-15 seconds for starter to get engine to turn over. When at idle in park, throttle does not respond to gas pedal.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2020

My 2019 Jeep Compass has had numerous safety concerns, especially related to the engine and the push-to-start feature. Most recently, I have been in (d) drive, both stationary (I. E at a red light) or in motion (I. E highway, main road, side street, rotary) and both on a city street and highway when the vehicle's dashboard alerts me to shift the car into the (p) park gear. I can feel the car start to decelerate when it send this message. First, I shift the car into the desired gear (p), then brake locks itself so that I am unable to use to push-to-start feature and place the car back into drive. This has happened to me 4x/more. I have had my car in the service center at the dealership twice for the issue and they are unable to find the actual problem. It seems to me that it is the engine/push-to-start feature. In 2017 I had a defective battery and the car acted very similar, so I am thinking it may be the battery again. I filed a claim/case with Jeep today. I am awaiting proper documentation from the service center in terms of invoices. My life is at risk due to this huge safety issue.

20 Power Train problem

2 times the same incident occurred 6 months apart, once in June 2019 mileage 22046 and once in December 2019 mileage 28423. Bought the car brand new in 2017. Oil is dissappearing!! the oil pressure low light will flash on - there is a loss of power - while driving - no warning! then the light will go off. Drive to oil change business to have them check the oil level and the Jeep will be 3 to 3. 5 quarts low. No leak present or oil seen. Engine seems to slip while driving before this happens.

22 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

Takata recall , in the middle of driving all my warning lights on my dash went off and the car cut my fuel service off, leaving me unable to accelerate, I pulled over in a parking and the steering wheel locked up, I turned the car off and couldn't start it back up as the brake pedal was locked also. I have had this problem numerous times and visited the dealership plenty times and they aren't able to diagnose a real problem , it's a recurring problem. A new computer was put in it also and I still have problems.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2019

On 6. 22. 2019 I purchased a Jeep Compass certified. I had the Jeep for 10 days before the Jeep will no longer start. The Jeep had to be towed to the nearest Jeep dealership. The diagnosis is that the Jeep's timper is no longer working. This is a pre-existing issue that the Jeep dealership on route 4 , paramus,NJ was well aware of when the sold me the Jeep. I do not have a loaner car to get to or from work. . . . . . .

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2019

When making left or right turns, it goes into 4wd. Doesn't matter if you're on the roadway or turning into a parking spot or even backing up. Feels like something grabbing in either the front or back can't really tell. Makes grinding noise. Took back to the dealer twice now and they also say it was the 4wd that they can't fix anything because Jeep knows about the problem and we have to wait for Jeep to do a recall. It gets worse every day. They say they can not give us a paper because of waiting on the recall. Only had this car for 3 months and nobody wants to fix the problem.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2019

Is using oil very quickly. Was told to carry oil with me to keep the oil full so that it doesn't run out. When oil gets low (no oil left after 3000 miles) will get brief "low oil pressure" message and Jeep will just shut off automatically. This always happens when I am driving. Was in the middle of a very busy intersection yesterday when this happened on my way to get the oil changed and I almost got hit by a semi. This is very unsafe.

My Jeep compas was built 8-2016 and is making a extremely loud grinding noise. I took my vehicle to get looked at and they rotated the tires. They stated the tires are in excellent condition and stated that it maybe the axel or internally because exterior visual inspection everything was fine. I came home and put the car in park and it was still rolling and I put the emergency brake on and that was making a grinding noise also. I no longer feel safe driving my vehicle. I need my vehicle to be added to recall t-26 as I am not going to pay for these repairs upfront. The grinding noise just seems to be getting louder.
