general problems of the 2017 Jeep Compass

I am reporting a serious steering/suspension safety problem with my 2017 Jeep Compass. After picking the vehicle up from the dealership following repairs/service, the vehicle was significantly more difficult and frightening to control than before. While driving, the Jeep will suddenly veer toward the shoulder/ditch or toward/over the center line even though I have not intentionally moved the steering wheel in that direction. I have to repeatedly correct the steering to keep the vehicle in my lane. The problem becomes worse and more dangerous as speed increases. There are also multiple popping/clunking noises coming from underneath the vehicle. The steering feels unstable and the vehicle does not consistently track in the direction the steering wheel is pointing. This creates a serious risk of losing control, leaving the roadway, or colliding with another vehicle. The dealership has previously diagnosed problems involving the steering/rack and pinion and has had the vehicle multiple times for repairs. After the most recent service, the steering condition became extremely unsafe. I notified the dealership immediately and provided video showing the steering/vehicle movement. The dealership owner responded that I should obtain an attorney and have my attorney contact theirs. The vehicle and affected components are available for inspection. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate this steering/suspension safety issue because I believe the vehicle presents a serious risk to the driver, passengers, and other motorists.

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was violently shaking. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

My Jeep compas was built 8-2016 and is making a extremely loud grinding noise. I took my vehicle to get looked at and they rotated the tires. They stated the tires are in excellent condition and stated that it maybe the axel or internally because exterior visual inspection everything was fine. I came home and put the car in park and it was still rolling and I put the emergency brake on and that was making a grinding noise also. I no longer feel safe driving my vehicle. I need my vehicle to be added to recall t-26 as I am not going to pay for these repairs upfront. The grinding noise just seems to be getting louder. I do not want to operate the vehicle and loose control while driving my kids to school or even just driving to the dealership for repairs.

Engine has excessive oil consumption which causes the vehicle to just stall out. Recommended 5000 oil changes but dealers will say 3000 and to check oil every 2 days because it may need 4-5 qts between oil changes. This started within 5 months of driving it off the showroom floor. Dealer and Chrysler corp are aware of issues but no fix has been discovered not do they care. My daughter and her 2 babies were almost killed when it just stalled exiting a major freeway and an 18 wheeler right behind her. . . Case manager (3rd case since 2017) at fca was �OH, so scary�. This is a serious, deadly issue and dealers omit things from the system, perform the consumption tests improperly or don't record them at all so they will not have to do what's right. The vehicle will totally shut down while turning, emergency brake will apply and it takes a bit to get it started again. Sometimes lights on dash will all flash on or sometimes just the oil light (even within 2 weeks of an oil change).
