When starting the vehicle the error message comes on with the man holding the air bag and it comes on bigger in the dashboard too. And feels like the car runs hotter with this message on. If someone is riding in the passenger side and I get into an accident. It could be deadly for that person. So the area is on the passenger side. Yes spoke to the dealer at flow Volvo in greensboro nc, and she know about the problem of the car also. I do see in 2017 there was a patrolman that noted the kbb about the situation. Now I was no there so I do know abything about it,just read this on the kbb information for the car. And as I have stated when you start the car the the warning lamp with the man comes on small holding the air bag and in the dashboard also. Also uploading pictures of the warning lamps.

6 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

I bought this car in 2018 with minimal miles on it, since then I have had nothing but issues with this car. Currently my oil cooler is leaking and at a mechanic shop because the closest dealer is an hour in a half and they tried to pull a fast one on me last time and I had to call corporate to report negligence. I have had to replace the -navigation system since the screen went black and would only show writing -start stop relay -starter relay -both batteries -the wire from the batteries to the engine -currently in the shop for my oil cooler leaking -had to have my breaks bled which the mechanic did for free because he was pissed off at the breaking system -and currently have an airbag light on. When looking up the year of my Jeep is shows alot of the recalls that relate to my cars issues. At this current time I can't get the car to a dealership hours away that tried to squeeze money out of me for no reason, and otherwise my engine is going to blow and that's not ideal. My car has less that 75,000 miles on it and issues started around 30,000 miles. I need assistance because my car should have been added to the recall list and it wasn't resulting in alot of money coming out of my pocket. I do have photos but it will not allow me to upload them.

9 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2023

I was hit from behind on the interstate 2 weeks ago. My Jeep Compass was stopped in heavy traffic on the interstate. A large white pickup truck hit my car first going at least 80 mph. He did not see that traffic was stopped. This caused my Jeep to roll and come to a stop on the passenger side on the ground and the driver side in the air. My airbags did deploy, but not on impact. They deployed after the Jeep came to a stop on it's side. After impact and after rolling. The airbags were not useful after the Jeep stopped moving. This needs to be addressed. I was hurt and did go to the er. I did not have any passengers, thankfully, they may not have survived that. My seatbelt held me in well, it was hard to get out of it and I have many bruises from the seatbelt. My only issue was the timing of the airbags. They were very late to deploy. Thought you should know. If this happens to others in an accident, many people will be hurt. The vehicle was only inspected by the insurance company to determine the repair costs and then declared a total loss. I am not sure if anyone else inspected the vehicle. There were no warning lights prior to the accident. I tried to upload photos, but it would not work. I do have photos and a police report from this accident.

10 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, both the driver and passenger side rear windows would roll down independently. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would stall as several warning lights would appear on the instrument panel. The contact called the dealer about the failure and was given an estimate for a diagnostic. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where they failed to diagnose the failure. The contact then stated that while driving in inclement, icy weather; the vehicle began to slide upon depression of the brake pedal while approaching a stop light. As the vehicle began to slide, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact lost complete control of the vehicle as the vehicle crashed into a light pole. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed and the light pole was knocked down as a result of the impact. The vehicle was towed from the scene to the contact's grandmother's home where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

11 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2023

Drivers side impact at approximately 40mph and side, floor and overhead airbags failed to deploy causing serious injury. Vehicle was parked at a stop sign when full impact occurred. There was 2 children in the rear seats and only a driver in the vehicle. There was none in the front passenger seat and only the airbag in the steering column deployed and the passenger seat airbag deployed. Airbags did not protect the children nor the driver in this impact.

12 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2022

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that there was a loud banging sound coming from the rear undercarriage while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that while the vehicle was idling at a red light the start/stop system activated, causing the vehicle to turn off; however, while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle occasionally jumped or hesitated before restarting and accelerating as designed. The air bag and start/stop warning lights were intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that the main control board computer screen was glitching and went completely black. The contact stated that the radio suddenly activated, and the windshield wipers were randomly activated even though the vehicle was turned off. There were several other electrical malfunctions, and the vehicle intermittently failed to start immediately. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who acknowledged there was an electrical failure but was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The radio was replaced four times, an electrical harness was replaced, and there was a battery replacement; however, the vehicle was not fixed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 29,000.

13 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2021

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph in the snow, the vehicle slid on black ice and hit a curb at a low rate of speed. The contact stated that the front driver, front driver knee, and front passenger airbags deployed upon impact. The police arrived at the scene and the contact was given a ticket for speeding due to the airbags deploying; the contact maintained that she was driving at a low rate of speed. The contact was uncertain if a police report was filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to her home. After the accident, the contact sought medical attention for injuries to her chest and neck. The manufacturer nor the dealer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

The vehicle was involved in a rear-end and front end collision, the vehicle was stationary at a red light with another vehicle in front. The vehicle behind me rear-ended the Jeep Compass at approx 50 mph pushing me into the vehicle in front of the Jeep Compass. 16 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2018

I am requesting fiat Chrysler auto repair all airbags that were deployed including dash and seat belts. In addition their was an important safety recall on the passenger airbag module, which is one of the airbags that deployed. Fiat Chrysler auto has failed to take any accountability. After purchasing a 2018 Jeep Compass trail hawk, trail rated vehicle, in which three airbags had been deployed prior to purchase, I took the car to my local mechanic and being that the car has never been in any accident, he could not determine how three airbags could have deployed. There was no damage to the frame or original radiator. As a result, I contacted the local dealership and asked that an inspection be completed to examine why three airbags were deployed especially since the vehicle had been taken into the dealership on 1/24/2018, for a recall on the passenger airbag module, recall t73/NHTSA 17v-732, which just happens to be one of the three airbags later deployed. I delivered the car to the dealership on August 10, 2018 for an inspection appointment, scheduled for 8am the next morning. Bill completed his inspection within a few hours and called me to let me know that the information had been forwarded to detroit. I received a one page factory stocked letter emailed from fca taking no responsibility for the deployment of three airbags and no explanation. The letter wqs not even signed by a human being and lacked any accountability, and even failed to address the recall on the passenger airbag module, t73/NHTSA 17v-732, as a possible malfunction. The letter is clearly crafted to avoid accountability. I am demanding that fca's executive team immediately look into this matter and take full accountability for the repair of the damaged cause by the deployment of 3 airbags.

17 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2018

Takata recall. I received a notice in the mail about the recall, this was back in December 2017. I've called the fca and they redirected me to my dealership, but neither have called back or notified me about scheduling an appointment to correct this issue. I called a few times and I'm always told the parts are not available, however I purchased this vehicle in November 2017. I have been unable to use the passenger seat for all this time and it is a huge inconvenience and it is very irritating that this has not been resolved. I do not feel safe using my car knowing there is a recall on the airbag. The dealership is napleton's northwestern Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram in chicago. I am told that is the only place I can go to get this resolved. Yet no call back!!!!!.

18 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2018

*quick synopsis: fca/stellantis falsely fixing airbag recall and not wanting to fix the issue* I am writing in hopes that I can help shed some light on an ongoing issue with a major automotive manufacturer that jeopardizes the safety of millions of american citizens. I am a current customer of stellantis automobile company better known as the former fiat Chrysler automotive (fca). I experienced a common yet serious issue that is being hidden from many who are still in danger of a life threatening airbag failure. The company seems to have issue with falsifying shop notes on the recall t73: passenger air bag module recall. (I experienced this with a Jeep) the databases in which the company uses stated that my recall had been “inspected” and crossed off as if completed. This was not done correctly. The recall specifically states for a replacement (documentation of proof available). I was passed around and no one could fix the problem due to the “status” being in the system. Multiple dealership shops could not fix the issue (even the place of purchase). I tried to go higher in the chain of command in the company but due to the size of this corporation, I spent weeks trying to find a resolution with no answer. (I finally had to alert the michigan attorney general’s office of the incident) this finally got the attention that was needed to get their stellantis special investigation unit(which is their legal department per say) to respond but still took weeks of bouncing back and forth to get someone to change the system and order the part needed. During this time, I attempted to gain legal counsel on the issue but unfortunately money talks and mine was not enough to warrant any interest. After upwards of 3 months of red tape and passing of blame I finally received a replacement. My story may be an exception to the rule, but I would like to make this public as many drivers may not be aware that their vehicles are affected by this issue and are in danger.

19 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2017

I recently purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass from metro Chrysler Jeep ram Dodge dealership. Upon research the vehicle, I learned about a recall on some 2018 models for the passenger airbag module with loose fasteners. There is concern that in the event of airbag deployment, these loose fasteners could become dislodged and impale passengers. Because of this recall, there is a federal stop sale order on all affected VIN #s. Before I deposited on this vehicle on 11/24/17, I specifically asked salesman if this vehicle has the recall. I was told it did not. I went to the dealership on 11/29/17 to pick up the vehicle and paid in full. On 11/30/17, another salesman called me and said this vehicle is on the recall list. He then told me he wanted to send a runner to my house to have me resign my sale paperwork with different dates on it. This was asking me to sign falsified/fraudulent documents to prevent them from liability for violating the federal stop sell order. I said that I would not resign any documents. I also learned that metro has not reported my car as sold to Jeep. The general manager told me he "can't report it" as sold. I feel that they can report it, but they aren't to protect themselves from fines, etc. Furthermore, since my car has not been reported as sold, there are numerous obstacles around getting the recall performed on my car. The dealership told me they would have to remove the recalled part from my car and ship it back to Chrysler for inspection. Chrysler would then either send a new replacement part or return the existing part if it was deemed to be safe to be reinstalled in my vehicle. The manager stated they would provide me a rental car during this period. However the time for which they would need to keep my car seemed unclear and open-ended. Overall this entire process in unacceptable to me.
