My hill brake activates while I'm in traffic, making u-turns, and driving. I took it to the dealership in January and they couldn't replicate the problem so they couldn't resolve it. They had it from January 25th to February 14th. Now my car isn't starting and the hill brake is activating. I got a new battery and an oil change on Monday, December 23rd.
The vehicle at any known time goes into the parking brake mode and stalls! the dealership does not recognize the problem and twice we were advised to change the oil? the oil changes which should not even be entertained has always been kept up to date. My question should we change the oil before or after the severity of the accident that can occur due to this malfunction. And why is this not a recall there are so many complaints online people experiencing same problem. Are you waiting till someone dies before doing something about it? that would surely sore sales? not understanding how this is going on so long. It has occurred on three incidents now highway and side street , it should not matter it is extremely dangerous!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass sport 4x2. The contact stated that while at a intersection. The contact released his foot off the brake to depress the accelerator and without warning the emergency brake engage. The contact would have to place his foot on the brake in order for the emergency brake to disengage. The dealer (keffer Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram 8214 e independence blvd, charlotte, nc 28227 (704) 532-1050) was contacted to schedule for a diagnoses test. The vehicle has not been seen for repairs. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. Ck.
It has shut down on me 4 times while driving. The emergency brake comes on by itself. The low oil pressure light came on the one time it shut down on me mid turn. Which is not possible for low oil pressure. It usually shuts down while going 25 to 35 mph on a city street but has shut down on me while merging onto the expressway.
Starting about 4-5 months ago, when coming to a stop or taking off from a stop (could be a light or stop sign) the parking brake would activate on its own, making the car stall. Sometimes I can make it to the side of the road other times it stops in the middle of the road. This would occur about once a month ranging from 5mph to 15mph. Started at about 34k miles. Takes about 5-10 minutes to get parking brake to go off and get the car running again. Now just over 50k miles it has occurred 3 times in the past week. First time was turning left at a major intersection, parking brake activated mid turn and the car stalled, luckily was able to roll to the other side and made it to the shoulder. Then it happened the next day coming up to a major intersection as I was slowing down to come to a stop. Parking brake activated, car stalled, got a transmission warning then a check engine light. I was stalled at the light for approx. 5 minutes before getting the parking brake to turn off and the car to start. Immediately called the dealer (crestview FL doge Jeep ram) and was advised to bring it in. Dropped the car off that evening. Was advised the next day my oil level was low and this caused everything to happen, but they couldn't duplicate the parking brake activating on its own. Advised to bring back if it happens again. Occurred again driving down a side road at about 20mph 3 days after being at the dealership. Car is set to go back to the dealership tomorrow. Have also filed a complaint with Jeep, currently waiting for a response. I'm scared for my family/myself/others are going to be seriously injured when this occurs at a higher rate of speed. This is my daily driving vehicle and I drive about 30 miles one way to work on major highways.
The steering wheel in the Jeep Compass 2018 locks up causing the brakes to not work and as the driver I lost control of the vehicle because the steering didn't have full functionaliy. The vehicle stalls, and brakes don't work properly. There have been time where the car randomly shuts off completely in the middle of a highway after a sharp turn. Loss of power steering compounds the problem by making the vehicle difficult to steer off the roadway or highway and caused a collision. The engine has also randomly shut up, and car has jolted in the past a few times creating a major problem and has happened a few times while driving. There are over 1,000 of complaints on line about this vehicle, make and model. The vehicle keeps moving and loses control leaving the drive unable to have control to stop an accident or drive.
First off. I have a 2018 Jeep Compass that's I got a few weeks ago and I'm noticing now that my brakes are already terribly grinding, the engine gets way too hot even though the indicator is always neutral and never moves ever. Also the mpg is absolute crap and I think it has to do with the engine system itself causing problems. I lost 45 miles according to the indicator and really only went 12 miles back from work. That shouldn't be right.
The Jeep has an issue. . . . When I back into my drive way in reverse the car will sometimes roll forward. . . . Really unsure what this is about but believe it should be checked out. Also, the Jeep sometimes jerk when I take off and even swerve over to the lane left of me when I'm driving in the freeway. I have mentioned these things to the dealership but nothing back yet. I love the vehicle but there's definitely some issues that need to be resolved.
Computer message in the car information screen stated shifter service as I was turning on the car. Currently there hasn't been a recall on this item but according to the research there needs to be on set up. Everytime I attempt to accelerate there is a delay also upon braking just a tip jerks the whole vehicle.
The vehicle was in motion on highway 180. The vehicles service engine light, transmission light, electronic parking brake, and service hill holder turned on. I stopped the vehicle in the sholder. I checked the transmission and engine oil and both were good. I tried putting the vehicle on drive and the electronic parking light came on and stopped the vehicle from going on drive. The light stayed on for the electronic braking service. I was able to take it off the brake still with the service lights on. I was going to shift it into drive when it made a strong popping and screeching sound on the transmission when placed on reverse. I moved it to drive and it did the samething. I tried giving it gas and the d for drive would just blink and the vehicle would not move. I waited 30 minutes and tried moving it but nothing happened. I switched the gear from parking to drive hearing the popping sound as I shifted from the p r n d. I was able to drive it for 10-15 minutes and the transmission started heating up from 180f to 192f. While leaving the vehicle stopped for a while the transmission temp did cool off but I will have it serviced since I am still stopped at the highway with my family while writing this.
While driving vehicle at varying speeds the parking brake automatically engages by itself, shutting the vehicle down. This has happened multiple times and the vehicle is currently at the dealership waiting for repair.
Second time this issue has been a problem. First time electrical issues prevented car from shifting out of gear and car will not shut off, I had to pull fuses to get car to shut down. Emergency parking brake would not even engage. So my daughter had to hold the brake because said auto was stuck in reverse for over one hour. This is a brand new car. It is my belief that this dealership was not truthful in disclosing the issues with this car. Web shows several instances of this happening, why has the nthtsa not recalled these vehicles with this same setup. I believe it's times that this car gets replaced by the manufacturer.
The parking break engages by itself when parked.
Upon first stop of day-only on first stop, the brakes stop vehicle extremely hard, if not wearing seat belt-you would impact windshield. After traveling for 10min brakes work correctly, this has been getting worse - vehicle is at dealer now and has been for two weeks-with no corrective action yet.
My vehicles transmission, beginning at 30,000 miles, started to lock up. The service transmission and service engine lights both activated. This only occurred while the vehicle was parked and idled. I had to press gas turn vehicle off for a couple of minutes and restart to reset the transmission icon. The same lock up started to happen while driving after I passed the 36,000 miles mark. I was on the highway using cruise control and the vehicle locked up and started to slow down. I could not accelerate so I had to put my hazards and pull over. This happens very often now. Autozone states the code pops up with u1428. I then start to have start up issues at 50,000 miles. The start/stop system is unavailable and the light reflect �a!� has been activare since. This has caused my vehicle to get really hot. Constant oil burning. And gas burning. When autozone check code it popped up p1dd2 (with no description of what the code was caused by). The vehicle electrical is not stable. In multiple instances my vehicle lights and power have gone in and out while idle and driving. It slows down my vehicle suddenly. I have heard a lot about transmission and engine issues with the newer Jeeps but I didn't think this would happen to me. I don't think my vehicle is safe and would like a more professional input since the dealership I bought the vehicle from is never available to assist.
At about 25 mph the breaks didn't work when applied and caused an accident, some times the car speeds up even when gas pedal is not applied, sometimes when I shift to drive or reverse the d or r indicator flashing then I have to park and try again.
The car was in motion and in a middle of the street turn off, when the engine was checked it didn't have no engine oil on it. The car is brand new not even 5000 miles on it. Didn't show any warning before hand making it a safety issue for those like me traveling with children and the car stoping out of nowhere.
Brakes are bad, have been since we got it. They lock up when u hit the brakes. Something was wrong with it when I drove it on the lot. Something rattleing in the front end. They stopped the rattle but brakes are a huge issue. No matter how light you tap them they lock up. When they are wet it is undrivable. Also engine revs up for no reason and the engine kill thing does not work right. Its not instantaneous. Lots of lag before you can move. . We have been back to the dealer right after we bought it to try to trade it for another one but no luck. I should have walked away when it was making the noise when I moved it on the lot. Specially after the way we were treated by the guy who did the paperwork when we declined the extra warranty. If he hadnt been a vet I wouldve walked away. The dealer has records of repairs they tried to make. The brakes have been bad since we bought it and the rest has been going on for a coulpa months now.
Several days ago while on the expressway, my Jeep Compass would not brake at all. We were forced to pull off on the median left side until it stopped. . Two days ago, October 10th, when pulling into a parking lot, with brake depressed, the car lurched forward and hit a sign just missing a tree. The passenger front right side, door, back door, and rearview mirror were damaged. This was the second incident. Very scary and luckily no one was hurt.

I purchased my vehicle in sept. 2017. It has about 12k miles. Recently when I'm reversing out of my driveway the brakes will squeak pretty loud. Happens almost everyday. I will note this doesnt happen on flat ground (my driveway is at a slope).

The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The insurance company was notified of the crash and had not yet diagnosed the collision damages. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer (victorville motors, 14617 civic dr, victorville, CA 92394, (760) 733-8484) for over a month while waiting for a response from the manufacturer to diagnose the vehicle. The manufacturer responded by email, which indicated that they would send a technician to the dealer to inspect and diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 2.
When coming to stops at different times the parking brake automatically engages and car will not move until disengaged. This has happened at stop lights and other times as I am coming to a stop.
Since a month after I bought the vehicle I been back to the dealer fixing vehicle in everything. Car has been through new engine new radio new 4 set of tires new steering rack new brakes new rotors new lug nuts etc I have all my paperwork.
