Warnings problems of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Subject: vehicle lost power while driving – potential battery/electrical safety issue on August 15, 2026, my vehicle suddenly began malfunctioning and lost power while I was driving my daughter to a medical appointment. I was on/near highway 20 and had to maneuver the vehicle into a parking lot to avoid being struck. My daughter and I were extremely fortunate not to be injured. The vehicle was subsequently towed to mall of georgia Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram for evaluation. The dealership stated that both the main and auxiliary batteries need to be replaced and indicated that the main battery purchased from autozone may be faulty. The main battery was purchased from autozone on June 20, 2026. After an earlier vehicle failure, autozone tested the battery on July 24, 2026, and reported it as 100% charged/good. Autozone corporate has since stated that its testing equipment is functioning properly, while the dealership maintains that the battery is faulty. I am concerned that there may be an underlying battery, electrical, charging, or vehicle-system safety issue that caused the vehicle to lose power while being driven. I am requesting that NHTSA document this incident and determine whether it may represent a safety defect or a broader vehicle safety concern. I can provide the battery purchase receipt, autozone test results, dealership service records, towing records, and other documentation upon request.

Car turn off while driving on the freeway, all dashlights come on ( 4wd, service engine, transmission service, abs, crash detector, high voltage, battery voltage, etc) the car has 79k miles.

Systematic electronic issues culminating in electronic failures while driving on highway including successive “shut-down” of electrical systems, all codes displayed including but not limited to the following: -forward collision -services transmission -service engine -service alternator -service ems system disruption to electrical functions including loss of power steering, acceleration, and brake system “locking” up. Tow service and repairs, required.

1-)I was driving 30 mph and the car stoped 2-) the motor oil consuming very fast 2000 m 3-) the backup cámara is not working.

Drove the vehicle I purchased and the lights on the dash board began to illuminate at 2500 miles. The u connect would go black, the dash lights air bags, emergency break, cruise control, etc would illuminate. The the car would shift out of gear automatically put in park flashing, and die in the middle of the freeway without warning, has happened like 3 times, now I am scared to drive it due to the safety of myself and others. I would have to restart the car and it would jerk, then be fine. The hood light would display hood open when it isn't and multiple other lights. Told the wiring harness is melted causing the problems. Lights that come on are advanced driver assistance systems (adas) check engine, transmission light, adaptive cruise control automatic emergency braking blind spot warning forward collision warning lane departure warning lane keeping assistance parking collision warning rear cross traffic warning.

Car would not stop, had no control before it hit the front of a house.

My forward collision warning system gave a false positive while I was driving down a busy road way. It activated the braking system when there were no vehicles in front of me for at least 40 yards and causing a vehicle that was following me to have to break and swerve to miss hitting me. I was on rt 15 in shamokin dam around 12:30 pm going 30 mph.
