In July 2026, I began receiving two warnings in sequence: (a) the airbags were not operating properly, and (b) the sos call function was unavailable. Screenshots of both warnings are attached. It took several visits to a nearby dealership before the service department correctly identified and resolved the issue. I have attached both service reports: the initial report, which misidentified the problem, and the final report, which documents the correct root cause and repair. According to the final report, the warnings were caused by a short circuit in the airbag wiring. A broken metal wire from the driver’s seat support cage had pierced the wiring loom, causing the short circuit. Resolving the issue required replacing both the seat support cage and the wiring harness. I am attaching images of the broken cage and pierced wiring as a reference. I consider this a serious safety issue. As I understand the Jeep Compass user guide, an airbag warning light may indicate that the airbags could fail to deploy in an accident or deploy unexpectedly. Either outcome could result in severe injury or death. The simultaneous loss of the sos call function further increased my safety concerns. I believe Jeep should take responsibility for investigating this failure, determine whether the metal wires in the seat support cage have a design or manufacturing weakness, and initiate a recall if warranted. I have retained the damaged cage and pierced wiring harness and am willing to provide them for investigation.
I was hit on the driver side of my Jeep and I was told by multiple ems on the scene of the accident that my air bags should’ve went off.

A police report was filed, however the information was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.
