Wheel problem #2

Accident on [xxx] at [xxx], I headed out of the timberlane estates neighborhood to go to volunteer at the nwr in crystal river and was behind 3 other cars going out of the same neighborhood. As I started to turn from [xxx] (25 mph) to [xxx] (decelerating to about 10), I had to fight the steering wheel trying to straighten it out but instead the car continued left and hit a car at the stop sign. This shook me up quit a bit. When I got out, the driver of the hit car and I traded information. We both have state farm insurance. Called state farm to report the incident and took pictures of the front of both cars and of the skid marks. Called my husband and as we waited for the tow truck, we realized that the cv joint (?lower all joint) was totally out, which also caused the tire to flatten as well. We realized from the skid marks that this occurred as I was starting my turn. That’s why I lost control. There were no injuries, though I was shook up thru the next day and sore in my right wrist, shoulder and neck. Car went to jim hudson collision center crystal river, FL. Car was inspected by them and the state farm insurance adjuster. The attached photos are from the hudson collision center. I have a few taken at the accident site if you want them too. Wheel problem #3

Subject: complaint against american warranty – tire & rim coverage to whom it may concern, I am filing this complaint against american warranty (1-800-346-6469) regarding my tire and rim coverage for my 2020 Jeep Compass (VIN: [xxx] , mileage: 49,000). The titled vehicle is in my name, [xxx] , [xxx] . On June 26, 2025, I dropped off my Jeep for warranty service. Since then, I have been without a vehicle, and my claim has been mishandled at every step. 1. Unprofessional and rude treatment – when I attempted to conference call with the harr dealership manager and the warranty department, the representative hung up on both of us, saying they “already knew about the case” and that I had to wait. Their tone has been dismissive and rude throughout my calls. 2. Delays and lack of resolution – after more than three months, my claim is still unresolved. I purchased extended warranty coverage specifically to avoid these issues, yet I have been left without a vehicle all this time. 3. Rental car denied – despite repeated requests, I was told I am not entitled to a rental while my Jeep is undriveable due to warranty issues. 4. Improper rim handling and poor repair coordination – the warranty company appointed alloy wheel repair specialist (contact: shaundolyn whittle, shaundolynwhittle@alloywheel. Com, 877-743-2977) to attempt repairs. My rims were removed and remounted multiple times, leaving them scratched and further damaged. •additionally, elite wheels (contact: nick, 518-579-9260, claim #[xxx]) was also involved in the process. This created confusion and additional delays. 5. Additional out-of-pocket charges – harr Jeep (114 gold star blvd, worcester, MA – contact: christian aylward, 508-471-2625) has had to diagnose my vehicle several times to provide information to the warranty department. I am now being told I must pay these charges, as the warranty company refuses to cover them. This has caused me severe incon information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Wheel problem #4

Two bolts that hold the wheel assembly to the frame of the vehicle have broken off. The first in April 2025 was on the passenger side, and the second in July 2025 was on the driver side. The Jeep service personnel provided no explanation for how this could happen or seemed to have inspected the other components after the vehicle was serviced for the first broken bolt.

Wheel problem #5

Aggressive premature tire wear on the inner section of the tire tread on a 2022 Jeep Compass (purchased December 2022). Mostly on the front tires, similar slight evidence on rear tires. Alignment was investigated in March 2025 by commercial repair service center (not dealership). Alignment is within factory specifications. Service manager only recommended replacing the front two tires, as there was nothing they could do for the alignment - pictures attached of front tires. Back tires were rotated to front position with new tires mounted in the rear. Five months later front tires now need replaced with mileage at approximately 28,000 miles. Internet search for similar issue has overwhelming number of complaints documented by other owners across the u. S. And canada. All complaining of replacing tires due to perceived alignment issues from the manufacturer.

Wheel problem #6

I bought the Jeep 2000 24 June 5th from auto lenders and fairless hills vehicle had 34,632 miles on it took it back June 18th for inspection and that there was noise coming from the front end when you went over speed bump metal climbing I told him they said they found nothing took it back again July 10th with the same issues and everything they found nothing the miles on the car on July 10th in where 35,677 mi that was in going out $35,677 mi which they never moved the vehicle took it back again in September for the same issue so they found nothing I was going to take it back again on christmas eve I was taking donations to a church and I want to go straight the vehicle went right the ball joint snapped airbags came out and if there wasn't a pole to slide into I would have went into the store that was there they failed to find the issue that was wrong with the vehicle I could have been killed my grandson could have been killed the vehicle's now setting and a tow yard waiting for someone to go look at it and totaled because the airbags came out all on the passenger side the steering wheel went underneath the steering wheel. I'm waiting for a revised please report because the police officer misunderstood me when I said I walked around the car and slipped on black ice I didn't hit no ice with the car the wheel went right when the ball joint snapped and the car slid into a pole on each document that I have they only move the vehicle 2 mi on the 18th of June and September 25th on July 10th the vehicle had the same miles in and out.

Wheel problem #7

A knocking noise has slowly come into play from the hood of my 2019 Jeep Compass. With some research, it appears to be the front driver’s side axle causing this noise while in operation. The knocking sound is caused by the cv joint at the end of the cv axle shaft. As the cv joint wears down, it becomes less able to absorb shock and vibrations. If I were to continue driving with a damaged cv, the joint will disintegrate further, making driving impossible. I will not be able to control the vehicle and may get involved in an accident. This issue is out of my control unless I simply don’t drive it. This is also a stock part that wasn’t expected to need replacing within 5 years of having the vehicle. My current mileage is roughly 76,000 miles to which I don’t drive more than I need to.

Wheel problem #8

I brought in my car for service and clearly nothing was fixed. I have been having issues with this car for years now and nothing is being repaired at the dealership. I will enclosed back up that I went there and they apparently fixed it but car is still having issues. It is not safe to drive.

Wheel problem #10

Good evening, my name is anastasiia kubashova, I live in boca raton, FL, USA, and own a new car: Jeep 2022 Compass lattitude VIN #3c4njcbbxnt192489. I report a serious safety hazard that can cause a crash injury or death that needs to be investigated and corrected. On Thursday, November 9 2023 I picked up my car from arrigo Chrysler Jeep autodealer located at 2250 FL-7, margate, FL 33063 where my car was present for 13 (thirteen) days for the following service: a replacement of lost/stolen car keys. On the way from the autodealer, my car started to push forward and back on the road when I pressed the acceleration pedal. The following signs immediately switched "service transmission", "stop/start system", "tire pressure". I was able to immediately drive back to the arrigo Chrysler Jeep auto dealer. When I was returning an unsafe car, they reported to "an issue with the transmission", but have not clarified the code nor explained it to me. This accident on the road put me in fear for my life and I started to feel very anxious. I could not concentrate on the road. As of today, November, 30 my car is still present at the arrigo Chrysler Jeep auto dealer at 2250 FL-7, margate, FL 33063 and I am not aware of what issue put my life and the life of my son in danger. I initiated contact with an auto dealer via email two (2) times: on November, 15 and November, 27, and have never received a response. Instead, today, November 30, 2023 at 5:43 pm I received a voicemail from enterprise-rent-a-car that “I am set up by arrigo auto dealership to return a rental car" that was provided to me on November 9, 2023, at a time when I drop off broken car. An issue with a brand new car that my family is going through and that I am making payments for is not acceptable to me or to any customers in the USA. I request to investigate the serious safety hazard defect of the car Jeep Compass 2022 that put my family's life in danger. Sincerely, anastasiia kubashova.

Wheel problem #11

2011 Jeep Compass with 62,000 miles on it the subframes rod about the wheel almost fell off the arm that holds the wheel fell off the rear frame and that could have caused the real big accident accident would have lost control of the vehicle and they told and dealership told me that the warranty expired 2 years ago it was a 10-year extension on it so they did not do it it's because they used cheap metal and they know they did but they will not fix it I just fixed the rear subframe and all parts going to it and all bolts cost me 1500 dollars I do not think that's fair I hope you look into it because they are robbing people thank you I hope you can do something about it and I can get reimbursed and have my front one fixed too because that is rotted out too I just don't have the money to do both.

Wheel problem #12

Prior to the failure of the rear drive axles there were 2 instances of the 4wd lamps coming on. Reset the lever and light went out. Another instance had the abs light come on. After several miles the light went off. The next morning while driving to the independent repair shop the car completely stopped on a blvd in the middle of traffic. Luckily I was not rear ended by another vehicle. The car needed to be towed to the shop. Upon inspection by the tech was the rear drive axles had become corroded and needed to be replaced. As well as the backing plates. The vehicle is 8 years old and has 62,000 miles.

Wheel problem #13

Front wheel assembly with broken connection to frame which was caused by a rusted out frame that mechanic said make vehicle extremly dangerous to drive. Front wheels buckled outward. Can't drive car any more.

Wheel problem #14

Electronic malfunctions the Jeep completely turn off. Energy lights did not turned on both batteries died. Unable to move the car to “n” to move it out of the freeway. Chp used flares to detour the traffic. Could have been a feral accident due to the electrical turning completely off on the freeway.

Wheel problem #15

Power train: axel assembly: ankle shaft.

Wheel problem #16

Second time vehicle refuses to turn on. Purchased a "new" battery from the dealership and just a few months later the vehicle refused to turn on once again. According to the dealership the electrical wires were burnt out by the computer in my Jeep. Tire pressure on my vehicle are always incorrect and I have purchased four sets of new tires trying to correct this error. First claim filed with Jeep case number: 79830578.

Wheel problem #17

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, he heard abnormal grinding sounds coming from the front driver's side wheel area of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the forward collision avoidance emergency braking system and pedestrian emergency braking system was independently disabled. The message "forward collision and pedestrian brakes turned off" was displayed. The contact stated that the automatic emergency braking system would engage inadvertently while there were no vehicles or objects nearby. The contact stated that the emergency braking system engaged while he was depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on two separate occasions and the dealer informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that an unknown software needed to be updated; however, the part was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

Wheel problem #18

1. Electrical: the touch screen, which is used for the radio & backup camera, is completely shot. One day in may, I was driving my car & the screen went from working to a fuzzy image & then to it going completely black. The radio stopped working as well. The lights around the screen (connected to the buttons) work but tend to flicker every now & then. This is a safety risk for myself & my family because I don’t have the extra support & awareness to backup with confidence or warnings. It hasn’t been looked at by anyone & there were no warnings prior to failure. It has been a consistent failure since then. 2. Engine: Jeep keeps overheating. Has been since April. It was inspected by a mechanic & also paid to have it “fixed” however the problem persists. It is a safety issue because my car could overheat & stop working & cause issues with other drivers. I also have a 5 yo & we have to drive around with the windows down & heat on no matter the weather. Sometimes we get home & her face is bright red. Sometimes the warning light comes on & the fluid is at the appropriate level. 3. Tire pressure in at least one of my tires is always low. I receive a warning light almost every time I drive. These are brand new tires. After I fill up the tire, it is only “fixed” approx 1 day before the light comes back on. It was checked by mechanic & he stated there were no issues he could find. This has been ongoing since December 2021. This is a safety issue because I could get a flat tire & crash into other vehicles or cause an accident. Jeep is available for inspection upon request for all issues.

Wheel problem #19

Alignment went out on camber, no factory adjustment is available. The choice is wear tires uneven and risk a blow out or put in after market adjustments. Alignment is a normal part of the maintenance of the vehicle, not making the adjustments available is wrong and makes the vehicle unsafe to drive without greater cost to the consumer.

Wheel problem #20

Tl- the contact owns a 2021 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at 40 mph in the rain, the vehicle spun out of control and crashed into a side barrier. The contact stated that she had the tires rotated a month prior and was relating the crash to the tires balding. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to steve landers Toyota (10825 colonel glenn rd, little rock, ar 72204). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and had somebody inspect the vehicle to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer stated that the failure was related to the parking brake being engaged. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000. Rd.

Wheel problem #21

Making a turn around and the car went over the curb barely at 20 mph or slower and then the car became in drivable. I have been told the rack and pinion is broken and that Jeep has a 700+ people waiting list for the part because there is a bug in the part and they refused to release it to the people so now I don't have a car to drive all because I ran over a curb going less than 20 mph.

Wheel problem #22

I bought this 2014 Compass in December 2019 the tread on the vehicle's goodyear eagle LS 2 tires ( 205/70r/16 looked good but from the moment I bought it I was constantly putting air in both tires on the drivers side. I bought the Compass as is from the dealership so of course they would check them and repair any leaks or whatnot but for a ridiculous price which I cannot afford. I do have a warranty that I bought but covers very little, even have to pay for the gallon of gas if I run out because it only covers the call out to bring me a gallon. Any who, I cannot afford new tires or the amount to have a place to look at them, so I was very anal about checking my tires like a crackhead looking for change on the ground. I woke up one morning to see that my front driver side tire was completely flat so I aired it up at the house and proceeded to check for leaks with the ol soapy h2o and found a small leak on the inside wall of the tire, I checked to see about replacing it and after I finished hyperventilating at the price, which btw was more than my car note, I put fix a flat in it to temporarily fix the issue so that I could save up to replace 1 single tire instead of selling my kidney on the dark web. Welp as soon as I got that done the back tire decided to be a jerk and keep deflating everyday. Got the soapy h2o and found nothing just likes to go flat. I started looking at the tires so that I could see how long it would take me to sell a kidney in order to replace 2 tires now and I noticed that all 4 tires have multiple bubbles on the outside side walls. Took each tire off checking for separation of belts and yep it's not rocket appliance, all 4 tires are bubbling. Yet I'm sure just by seeing the manufacturer's replies( there aren't any) and the fact that I always get the poop end of the stick that I will be selling my kids kidney's too just to buy 4 new tires.

Wheel problem #23

Car begins to shake for no apparent reason while on stop (stepping on brakes). The more time passed, the more frequent the shaking began. Started happening in 12/2019.

Wheel problem #24

This Jeep Compass was purchased for our college age daughter in March 2019, today while driving, her rear driver side wheel made a loud noise then felt like it dropped and upon getting stopped, she didn't wreck thank god, as she was pulling into our drive. Upon inspection it was discovered that her rear crossmember had rusted into. I searched and found that there had at one time been a recall on this particular part due to excessive rust from the salt belt states. We are in ky but when we purchased the vehicle it was titled in michigan, which is most definitely in that salt belt. I am not sure why this recall was not completed by the former owner but I believe it should be corrected no matter the age of the vehicle. This could have caused my daughter to be in a very serious accident. We had no information about any recall that had previously been issued.

Wheel problem #25

Since I've had my car the main screen with maps, weather, radio, etc. Has shut off randomly, my speakers have turned up to the max they could go all by themselves without letting me turn anything off, the weather constantly pops up after I've cleared it. All of this was fixed with replacing the whole screen. But then after the system would not save my setting for the first 5 times I started it back up. I had to keep saving them. It has had multiple issues, I've had to get different tires replaced at least 3-4 times and air leaks, the last being because the belt broke in them. I have an appointment to get my front usb replaced because it randomly stopped working. I've had to get other parts replaced that control my driving and now it won't start. The lights, radio, gauges, etc. All work but the gauges make a tick sound but the engine won't start. There has been two times that it says my car is running but the engine isn't on. I've had my side lights that come on when I turn randomly not work but I'm not sure if that is something I'm doing. I have to read the manual more.

Wheel problem #26

After having my Jeep for less than 7,000 miles, I noticed that my front two tires were completely bald on the insides. Brought it to multiple shops and the dealership where I got it, I was told I needed to rotate my tires more and that new cars get poor quality tires put on them. I was also told to monitor my inflation and it has been kept perfectly. I have rotated my tires at around 8,000 miles and am currently at 12,000 and I can already notice the same wear pattern on my tires. Nobody can find anything wrong with my car (alignment, tire pressure, suspension, everything is right) or an explanation of why this is happening.

Wheel problem #27

When driving over bumps you can clearly hear the suspension or struts. You can hear them also while just driving down the road. Sometimes it sounds like the bolts are gonna come out. It also have some kind of creaky noise sometimes as well.

Wheel problem #28

Bridgestone firehawk tire. These factory tires are defective. The tire belts in all 4 of my tires have shifted causing an excessive humming noise. My tire treads are currently at 5/32 and according to tread is nowhere near replacing, however due to the tire belts shifting in all 4 tires, I must replace them in order to avoid a more serious issue with my vehicle.

Wheel problem #29

Rear cross bar axle is defective. The wheel suspension is deteriated to the point that the wheels protrude ouward from the vehicle causing extreme wear on the inside part of the rear tires to the point of wires on radial tires are exposed. The outside part of the tires show minimum wear. Mechanics say this cross bar axle is poor quality steel or steel that wasn't cured and finished properly. The cross bar axle is literally eroding with holes occurring right through the axle itself. Fear is the car is becoming too dangerous to drive without fear that upon hitting a bump the rear wheels will spread apart and the car fall to the ground.

Wheel problem #30

New nexxen n5000 tires placed on vehicle and front end aligned. With in 2 months tires showed uneven tire wear with wires showing in areas. Submitted these defective tires under warranty for replacements. 3 months later at around 15,000 miles rear tire developed knot/bubble in the tire causing the car to bounce when driving. Replaced all 4 tires with different brand. I will never buy nexxen tires again.

Wheel problem #31

I've had to replace all 4 bearings, the 4 wheel drive went completely out during big snow in 2016, the rutter valve had gone bad(which costs over $400. , having to replace alternator, and various other things. . . This Jeep had been nothing but a pain since I've had it and I bought it new. They are junk and the whole vehicle should be recalled.

Wheel problem #32

Driving on a highway at 35 mph and braking for a red light the Jeep front end collapsed and the vehicle served to the left. Dealer inspection revealed the front crossmember broke due to corrosion. The rear crossmember was also corroded. The undercarriage of the vehicle sustained excessive & expensive damaged. Chrysler has no recall on this corrosion problem although it has issued an action under 23-012-14. Customer notification would prevent any possible accidents and undercarriage damage but no such notification is in effect. A service visit on 10/2016 with inspection did not alert the owner or dealer to this dangerous condition of corrosion of a critical structure of the vehicle.

Wheel problem #33

On 12 Jan 2017 a lady backed into my car at approx 35 mph and destroyed the passenger doors - the entire right side of the vehicle - the airbags did not deploy resulting in injuries to my son and myself. I was parking in a parking lot at the time and she was backing out at a high rate of speed without looking.

Wheel problem #34

The crossmember (subframe) is rotting away and when this part fails a serious crash may result. Jeep issued a bulletin (23-012-14) for 2007 Compass for this same problem authorizing an extension to warranty for 10 years and if found to repair without cost to owner. Just call Jeep about my 2008 Compass and they told me since original factory warranty has experied I would be 100% responsible for repair cost. First off, the crossmember should not rot away after onlky 8 yrs, second since they acknowledge 2007 had a problem , my 2008 should be included. Most importantly, since the failure of this part could result in lack of control and may cause a crash resulting in injury or death there should be a recall for all Jeeps to inspect and replace any parts showing severe rust and rotting.

Wheel problem #35

K frame by driver frontwheel so rusted crack completely in half. Wheel ended up facing 90 degree to left. Wheel and frame almost separated from Jeep. Strut only holding it on. Good thing I was only going about 5mph in parking lot.

Wheel problem #36

I have replaced the front and back suspension. I bought this used, and I think I was not given the proper information regarding the car.

Wheel problem #37

While driving, especially when I go to speed up, my Jeep sputters and almost feels like it's going to stall on me. I've taken it into the dealership that I bought it from about 3 different times. Every time they have told me they don't feel it and they cant find anything wrong with it. I don't know what else to do.

Wheel problem #38

I drove for several hours when my car started sliding to the side. I stopped to check and both my back tires were angled inward and completely ruined. I took the car to a mechanic for alignment, but he could not move the parts due to an excessive amount of rust. He mentioned that the whole subframe and arms had heavy corrosion and whole and the pieces could break anytime soon and I should not be driving the car. An extended warranty is applicable to the k frame for the model of my car but Jeep will not honor the warranty on my particular vehicle. I haven't drove the car since.

Wheel problem #39

I purched my car in 2015, and from day one there was a squelling sound coming from the wheels. When I took it to the dealler to be looked at, I was told that the front left wheel was out of lined. I had the alinement done, by the dealer, so they said that they alined the wheels; but the squelling did not stop. A few months later I took the car back and was told that I needed brake shoses on the rear, which was replaced. I still was not happy. Now, at 32,000 miles I am told that I need new tiries and a wheels alinement. I am not a happy customer!! there has to be something more going on with the wheels on this car. The wheels are still squelling!!.

Wheel problem #40

I was driving on my way home from work. It was snowing ice. I have lived in colorado my whole life and been driving in the snow since I was 16. My car was brand new when I had received it and there was no wear and tare on the car. It had taken me about twice as long to drive home because I had been driving so slow. Once I had entered my neighborhood, I took a turn, then another immediate turn going about 3 miles per hour due to road conditions. My turn was slow and wide and I hit a patch of black ice and began to glide to the opposite side of the road, about 15 feet bumping into the curb. My entire front driver-side axel had completely snapped and my rear axel had bent. Both tires were completely intact and the wheels were not effected as well. The front driver side had basically been complete snapped and torn out of the socket. It is unacceptable for this equipment to collapse and fail at such a low speed impact. I had also been denied and inspection from the service manager at the dealership that I had bought it from and had it towed to. They had also neglected to report it to the manufacturer upon our request, leaving me to report it for them. The dealership then threatened to move the car after the Jeep corporation ordered them not to. The Jeep corporation had also stated that they would inspect the vehicle as soon as they could, possible this week of 01/12/2015. I am requesting notification immediately.

Wheel problem #41

The part is front and wheel hub bearings. Took my car in for repairs and they found that the front and rear hub bearings are deteriorated but no other part was. Was advised to take it to a Jeep dealership. I took it imperial Jeep in mendon, MA and they check it and could not explain why these parts are deteriorated. Said they had never seen this before. Contacted Jeep customer service and they offered to pay 50% but was not told that the offer was only valid for 30 days so when I called back which was past the 30 days, I was informed they would not honor the original offer. Not sure where I can go from here.

Wheel problem #42

Tire low air indicator came on and tire went flat. I looked at tire and refilled with air just above the side wall into the tread on the top side of the tire was three holes up to 1/4 and the side wall had a bubble three inches across just about 3 inches below the three holes . I hit nothing and did not damage the sidewall. The dealer auto nation in spring TX acted like a 3rd grader shrugged his shoulders and said take it to a firestone dealer.

Wheel problem #43

The car began pulling in the front right tire intermittently. I was a half mile from home, so I turned around to go back home. As I drove into the driveway, the front right tire and entire front right suspension completely fell down (almost completely off) and the tire was pushed sideways and into the frame of the wheel well on the car. The car came to an immediate and abrupt halt. Had I been driving on the road when this occurred, my car would have flipped and I would have crashed and could have been killed! this is a huge safety problem and defect that I believe should be part of a recall. I have read many reports of problems with this model/year concerning the wheel bearings, lower control arms, and tie rods. I have great concern driving this vehicle in the future after it is repaired.

Wheel problem #44

The vehicle was bought brand new in 2010. Went to the dealership to get one of the tires replaced. The automotive mechanics found multiple problems in the control arm and the ball joint of the wheel. The mechanic told me that the problem is very common to Jeep Compass. I just want to file a complaint because the problem is not suppose to occur unless the vehicle is driven all the time or always driven to very far destinations. In this case, it is not. I understand that this type of problem might be cause by something else, like bumps on the road, or a heavy object hit on the road. I do not recall any incidents with my Jeep Compass that could cause this problem. The vehicle was brand new and not suppose to have that kind of problem that could potentially harm my family and myself.

Wheel problem #45

On June 13 2011 my Compass with only 17085 miles on it, had cracked a front spring that had grinded a ring around my pass side tire. I was not aware of the problem, but I noticed some noise in the front end so I brought it to a dealer for service. I was told what had happened and how surprised the service dept. Was with this incident. They told me they could not believe it. It took a while but after some complaints and disgust with the dealership, but more so with Chrysler, everything did get covered buy the 2 parties. Not to mention the fact that my vehicle was and still is under warranty. Today is January 3 2013 and guess what? I now have to contact the dealer and probably Chrysler again. My Compass is still under warranty with only 27450 miles and now the driver side front spring is cracked and is beginning to do the exact same thing to my other tire again. I don't know what the dealer will say or do but I will contact them first thing in the morning, they are closed at this time. I was just wondering if this is a common problem or just a fluke? to me this seems like it should be a possible defect and put under a recall. If anyone of these tires would have been warn down enough and a tire would have blown out, there could have been a very serious and or deadly accident.

Wheel problem #46

Have my vehicle in for inspection and found that the ball joints, tie rods, rocker arms, brakes and rotors had to be replaced on the front and brakes had to be replaced on the back.

Wheel problem #47

The vehicle was hit on left front door and front quarter panel propelling it into a parking lot over a curb. The left front tire blew upon impact. The vehicle was repaired by a Chrysler/Jeep dealership. After the vehicle was fixed several people got sick in the car or just after exiting the car. This lasted for six thousand miles over three months period of time. I purchased a carbon monoxide tester because how many people got sick. It went off on the third day of it being in the vehicle. Another Chrysler dealership inspected the vehicle and found an exhaust leak that was over looked by the first dealership when they repaired the vehicle after the accident. The insurance company came and re-inspected the car and paid for the overlooked exhaust leak damage. The insurance company estimator said the front left door was not closing properly and needed adjusting. The left door along with both upper and lower hinges were replaced right after the accident. The first dealership that originally repaired the car after the accident then inspected the vehicle and found the door needed more than adjusting. They had to replace the driver lower hinge as they said it was a "defective". They said it was covered under the "warranty". The door was making popping sounds. The whole door would drop down upon opening it. The defective hinge tweaked the door so that at the bottom of the door there was a gap. The rubber weather seal also came loose as well after the accident. The weather strip clips would not hold it around the door properly. At the top of the door with the defective hinge it looked as though it was closed. The bottom of the door was not closed all the way. I believe this gap at the bottom of the door was the entry point for the carbon monoxide to enter the vehicle causing multiple persons to become ill that were not in the vehicle when the accident took place.

Wheel problem #48

Wipers randomly come on (and stay on for several minutes) when taking left hand turns. The wiper control is on the right side. Wheels lose air pressure and deflate frequently.

Wheel problem #49

While driving on interstate 5 traveling at 65 - 70 mph there was a loud explosion type sound and the front drivers side of our 5 week old 2011 Jeep Compass suddenly dropped. Upon coming to a skidding stop in the center divide it was discovered that the wheel and tire had broken off of the vehicle leaving only the center part of the wheel bolted to the car. The car came to a stop on the rotor. The wheel's five spokes were completely snapped and the tire still attached with several burn holes on the side walls but no tread damage. There was no damage to any other parts of the car except for tire markings on the side as it detached from the Jeep Compass. The wheel and tire were found approximately 60 yards down the freeway. There were no injuries but chp said it was a very fortunate situation and it could have been far worse. The Jeep Chrysler dealership can not explain it. The insurance company can not explain it but said it was too cost prohibited to pay for forensic testing on the wheel so will only pay for the damage and not the "what ifs". We are being told that it is our responsibility to get the wheel tested for possible stress fractures. Our Compass has been at the dealership for a month and Chrysler has still not sent an investigator to look at it despite our many calls. Do not want to have just the one wheel fixed and get back in the car if all the wheels could be defective. We might not be so lucky next time.

Wheel problem #50

My 2008 Jeep Compass began making a loud noise a few months ago. I recently brought it in and had the control arms placed, ball joints, rear brakes and had an alignment. After I left the car began shaking on the highway and while breaking, I brought it back and was told that I now needed tie rods, which should have been noticed when they did the alignment. The Jeep has less then 55,000 and I only drive it 20 minutes to and from work. Jeep refuses to help me bc I am not the original owner, which I did not find out until recently. . The car was sold to me as a demo car, not a used car. I am pregnant and very nervous that this car is going to keep falling apart.

Wheel problem #51

2007 Jeep Compass. At approx 100k miles I took it to the dealer for routine service. Technician informed me that the tie rods were bad on front driver side, showed me play in the wheel. Said it needed to be fixed. I agreed to have new tie rods put on. One month later the car began to handle erratically, I took back to the same dealer and asked to inspect their previous work and search for the handling/steering problem. After two hours they informed me they could find nothing wrong. 7 months later, while driving with my 6 month old in the car the front left control arm broke and the front driver side wheel actually broke off at the lower ball joint while the car was in motion. Replacing control arms and ball joints on both sides plus two new front tires netted a total repair cost of $1400 . . . This is on top of the previous repair cost to replace the tie rods.

Wheel problem #52

Loss of control where the car jerked as if I had hit a patch of ice (in the spring with 50ã‚â° weather) anytime I steered to the left. Have had the ball joints/control arms replaced 4 times since.

Wheel problem #53

My wife's 2007 Jeep Compass 4x4 ltd was taken to our local Jeep dealership in edgewood, MD for a routine oil change. A mechanic on duty notified us that in addition to the oil change, we would need to have the front drivers side ball joint (lower) replaced because it was "loose". The mechanic described the problem as something serious that needed to be taken care of immediately since the wheel could fall off in extreme conditions. Less extreme conditions were described to us as leading to a possible loss of steering control. The mechanic also mentioned to us that this was a common occurrence with the Jeep Compasses he has worked on. We took immediate action to fix the car to keep it drivable by having the dealership replace the ball joint the following day - safety was our primary concern. We took steps to contact Chrysler's corporate headquarters to see if this would be something they would consider replacing since our car was beyond warranty (61,000 miles) - they dismissed our claim and would not reimburse us for the work done or the replacement parts. Having done some research, it seems most Jeep models from 2007 through 2009 have been experiencing ball joint problems leading to recalls - the Compass is not yet on the recall list. A ball joint failing after 2 years of owning the car and all highway miles (no off-roading, no city driving, no bumpy roads, etc. ) just seems very absurd to us. This seems to me like it?s more of an issue with defective parts placed in the Compass than an issue of wear and tear. The consequences of a failure such as this while my pregnant wife was driving the car could have been disastrous. If the mechanic on duty is seeing this part failure in more than one Compass, it could mean a bigger problem exists, presenting a danger to many Compass owners. Please look into this!.

Wheel problem #54

The low tire pressure warning light on the dash comes on continually on this vehicle; even when all four tires are properly inflated. As an example, I just had new tires installed, all were set to the manufacturer's recommended tire inflation pressure, and within hours of leaving the tire shop, the low tire pressure warning light began coming on. It comes on continually. There will be periods when it does not illuminate and other periods when it illuminates every few minutes. This is not only aggravating but it is a safety concern. When a red warning light continually illuminates on the dash, your attention is constantly drawn away from the road to the dashboard display. This is a non-functioning warning light and Chrysler needs to address the problem.

Wheel problem #55

I have a 2007 Jeep Compass. And for the past year I have had several issues with the vehicle stalling when I am decelerating or stalling when at a complete stop. Some times the vehicle jerks so bad that my seat belt locks up. I took it to the dealership where I bought it and they said there was nothing wrong with it but that the tech's are unfamiliar with the new transmission in this vehicle. I also have problems with the driver side seatbelt it clicks when I put it on but then all of a sudden it will come right off. I had a screw stuck in my front tire today and could not get the front tire off when we finally got it off we figured out why it would not come off there is rust. I am very unhappy with the problems and scared that the vehicle will stall when I am on a major highway.

Wheel problem #56

I went in to get my oil changed and my tires rotated and was told my car is unsafe to drive and here is what they put on my invoice (verbatim) "needs both lower control arms passenger side front has a really bad ball joint and left outer tie rod end is bad also price to replace both outer tie rod ends and both lower ball joints $1083 plus tax and that includes the alignment!!!!!!!!! vehicle is unsafe to drive with ball joint is this condition!!!!!!!!!" (literally with all the exclamation marks. ) I took the car somewhere else to get repaired (for half the cost) however I believe this is a part failure as I have less than 50k miles.
