While driving on freeway and going up hill there is a hesitation coming from engine. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide any further information. Consumer states the transfer case is binding on turns and the gears tend to click when driving over 70 mph.
Vehicle sometimes won't start, and sometimes it will start. Took vehicle to mechanic, and they couldn't find cause of problem. Took to another mechanic and he changed ignition wires, but problem still exists.
Engine fire.
Multiple rear axle problems, each diagnosed by owner prior to failure. (the dealer didn't want to admit there was a problem) this vehicle has averaged one new rear axle every year, including this year which I am waiting on parts. The engine's faulty mass airflow sensor quit operation while driving down the rocky mountains on some switchback roads. The engine abrubtly quit running, causing the vehicle to loose steering and braking control. Only quick thinking by using the parking brake saved the four people in the vehicle from eminent death. The engine reluctantly restarted after a few seconds and we continued down the mountains. However, a few minutes later the engine died without warning for a second time and we were forced to hold the Jeep on the mountainside with the parking brake engaged. I can't believe no one has died from this vehicle! this situation has occured on two separate trips, approximately one year apart, after reprogramming the engine management computer, and replacing the mass airflow sensor and remapping the engine management computer for a second time. For the first two years I owned this vehicle, it was in the shop over 36 times for warranty related repairs. What a piece of junk!( dot number: tire size: p225/65r16 ).
When driving the truck anywhere the truck just cuts off without any warning. Sometime the truck would start back up, and sometimes it has to be towed to a mechanic.
Engine vibrates.
Purchased truck new, had the truck one month was driving in the rain the engine blew up . Please describe .
Noise in engine.
I sent a detailed letter to daimler Chrysler after being refused by dealer. They only refunded my money for the cost of the front rotors. They would not reimburse me for the labor charges. I can't understand how they can do that when I had them replaced before the recall. That should show there is a problem. I wrote about all my problems with this "lemon" but I could not claim it was a lemon because I was leasing it at the time and in PA, a vehicle can only be declared a "lemon" when it is purchased, not leased. Very dissatisfied with daimler/Chrysler because they simply washed their hands of the entire problem. I have other problems to report, along with the receipts to prove they were investigated but nothing was ever done to correct the problems. Please contact me to forward all receipts proving complaints before warranty expired. Thank you.
Car would not stay started, mechanic replaced fuel tank and pump, due to admition of Jeep's faulty fuel tanks in '96 Jeeps. This has occurred 2 more times withing 1 month since first occurrance. All three times, tank and pump were replaced with no better outcome. Jeep says this is not a safety hazard!!! I believe it is, I was driving and the car just quit, I had to figure some way to avoid getting hit on the busy 2 lane 55 mile an hour road I was on. If they are going to admit to a problem, then they should fix and pay for the mistake! nlm.
