Three problems related to front seat heater/cooler have been reported for the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driver's seat heater felt very hot in one spot. This continued for several weeks before the seat heater stopped working. I have heard of other incidents where there were burn marks in the seat , but I this case there appears to be none. I contacted daimler Chrysler which refused to do anything despite the fact that this problem occured two years ago and was repaired at my expense.
Wire in driver's side seat that helps seat to heat up had a short in it, and caused a small burned hole in seat, when checking the seat wire was burned, and other wires were also burned.
Seat heater failed.
