Takata recall. Since owning my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4. 0, I've replaced nearly every single part on it. The transmission needs to be recalled on this vehicle before someone gets killed just trying to drive it. The transmission will be fine 1 minute, the next it is putting itself in neutral or drive and I've nearly died on several occasions. Now, the Jeep is coding more codes than ever. Also, as of few days ago, I have no reverse in it. I nearly hit another car trying to back out of a space at the hospital when reverse decided to no longer work. I can't afford to keep fixing these issues and I shouldn't have to. Please look into this because I'm sure I'm not the only person that's had problems with the transmission in 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Also, my back passenger doors have decided they won't open from outside of the vehicle. You can only open them from inside. What if something happened and I was trapped, nobody could get in through the passenger back 2 doors because they won't open. As far as transmission, maybe I'll live through another incident with transmission changing gears on it's own, but maybe I won't either. Thank you.

Monroe Dodge Chrysler monroe michigan refused to perform related recall repair on my vehicle last year, said it was too rusty and would do nothing. I called same dealer last week and spoke with female service mananger 9(gloria?) at 734 242 6370 who advised she is unaware of any consent agreement. My info indicates on 7/26/2015 enforcement action document requires the vehicle be actually rated as to the amount of rust, and in most situations the hitch can be installed after proper welding, rust removal, etc. Is done. Please contaact me , preferably by phone and in writing, about what can be done. The dealer will not acknowledge any further actions they will take, nor acknowledges the 7/26/2015 enforcement action.

14 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2014

I received a notice from Chrysler today concerning a possible problem with the fuel tank. The solution that Chrysler has come up with is the installation of a trailer hitch. It further stated that if a Jeep owner had a hitch installed after purchasing the vehicle, he or she should submit the bill of sale of the hitch installation and Chrysler will reimburse you that amount. I called Chrysler and told them that I had a hitch installed around 2001 but I no longer have the sales slip for the installation. The gentleman that I spoke with was very pleasant but told me that the only way I could get paid for the installation was to submit the original receipt. I think that Chrysler is very aware that very few Jeep owners are going to be able to produce a bill of sale for a purchase that is over 10 years old. It's a ploy for a hidden agenda so they can save thousands of dollars. The fair thing to do is for them to come up with a fair amount for those that can't produce a receipt.

The glass sun roof of our 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee totally detached (blew off) while my wife and 4 year old grandson were driving on an idaho highway at a speed of about 55 mph. Dealer sold vehicle with leaking rear seals, defective differential. Noticed bumping and whining noise less than 8 hours after purchase. Sun roof leaked causing the headliner to detach from roof of vehicle. Repaired once-said drain tubes were routed properly. Second time replaced roof-said seals did not match. Rear differential replaced. But did not address leakage around transfer case, seals etc in Dec 98. Now it's in the shop again! gas gauge fluctuates to empty when idling. Transmission slips. Driver seat automatiically reclines and heater does not work consistently.

Head liner failed. Mjs.
