Sun Roof problems of the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Seven problems related to sun roof have been reported for the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Sun Roof problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2005

While driving 55-60 mph the sun roof glass blew off and shattered on the road. Manufacturer representative inspected the vehicle. The cause of the problem had not been determined.

2 Sun Roof problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2003

While driving, the factory installed sunroof and the piece which held the glass flew off the truck. All the windows including the sunroof were shut. Ph.

3 Sun Roof problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2002

Sunroof was in closed locked position and was blown completely off.

4 Sun Roof problem

Failure Date: 01/13/1998

Sunroof leaks when it rains because it was install improperly.

5 Sun Roof problem

Failure Date: 12/01/1997

Sunroof mechanism failed.

6 Sun Roof problem

Dealer sold vehicle with leaking rear seals, defective differential. Noticed bumping and whining noise less than 8 hours after purchase. Sun roof leaked causing the headliner to detach from roof of vehicle. Repaired once-said drain tubes were routed properly. Second time replaced roof-said seals did not match. Rear differential replaced. But did not address leakage around transfer case, seals etc in Dec 98. Now it's in the shop again! gas gauge fluctuates to empty when idling. Transmission slips. Driver seat automatiically reclines and heater does not work consistently.

7 Sun Roof problem

Engine, muffler, sunroof, brakes, cruise control.
