Failure Date: 11/17/2014

Went to back car out of the garage, when the car was put in reverse, it immediately accelerated on its own and shot back approximately 60 yards, hit our basketball pole and damaged the driver door and rt. Front quarter panel. Unable to stop it with foot on brake!!!!.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2014

Vehicle randomly stalls and dies at low to moderate speeds. Engine will shudder briefly and shutoff. Stalling will occur when stopped or speeds ranging from 1 to 40 mph. When vehicle stalls, electrical system will reset and power steering fails. Restart is sometimes achievable immediately, but more often takes a minimum of 30 seconds and up to several minutes. Issue seems unaffected by outside temperature or other environmental factors. Engine failure often occurs within the first 15 minutes of driving, but has occurred at greater time intervals. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition rotor, and upstream oxygen sensor have been replaced, but problem persists. This has caused near accidents on multiple occasions. This issue is persistent and ongoing.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2013

First incident rough idling, second incident trying to quit on my way out of town, third incident on my way to work. Had oxygen sensor replaced 2 or 3 times and that has still not fixed the problem ! come to a stop at a red light and the car feels like it's sputtering to quit ,!.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2013

Within the last 6 months my Jeep's engine has shut off" while driving" at various speeds 5 different times but not exceeding 60mph. Four of the six times I was able to shift into neutral and restart the engine, two times I had to wait approximately 5 minutes before it would restart. The incident at 60mph happened on a 4 lane highway and luckily I was close to the shoulder when it shut off and I was able to get it off the road before the steering locked up and no one was hurt. The computer never registers any problem and my mechanic has stated that it could be numerous issues but nothing for sure. To the best of my knowledge Jeep has never issued a warning or recall for this issue. This is extremely dangerous and an accident just waiting to happen.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2012

Tried starting Jeep wouldn't stay running keeps shutting down after about 5 to 10 seconds. When try to start again just cranks over and doesn't start.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2008

My daughter was driving her 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee down a twisty road at 40 mph, the car suddenly began to accelerate. She applied the brakes and the car would not stop or slow down. She tried to pull up on the gas pedal but the pedal would not release. She then turned the car off and managed to pull over to the side of the road. This happened one week after we had it at the dealership to replace the crank shaft and cam shaft position sensors because the car turned off on its own when she was driving it. We can no longer let her drive the vehicle as it is unsafe for her or anyone on the road.

12 Other Fuel System problem

While driving or starting vehicle gas gauge drops to zero and low fuel light comes on. Gas mileage computer also indicates zero. Consumer does not know how much fuel is in vehicle. Dealer contacted. *akjg.
