Eight problems related to tire have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tire problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2001

On Sunday car at 45 mph began with violent shaking at 45mph. Happened several times on mon. Called car dealer who rec tires get checked. (tires are 2 months old with 1-2000miles). Tire dealer found a leaking steering stabilizer and refered us back to the auto dealer who replaced the stabilizer and noted that the front tires were badly worn. They stated that the wear was not caused by bad stablizer but by bad tires. The tire dealer claims the tire wear was caused by the stablizer. I am reporting this because of the significant vehicle control problem and to find the cause of the problem. Thank you. (dot number: mk9l tiresize: p24570r16).

2 Tire problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2001

After dot is : m671 ekwr 039. Dealer will not honor tire - nor will goodyear. (dot number: m671 ekwr tiresize: 225 75 r16).

3 Tire problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2000

Goodyear wrangler tire (p225 75 r16 st) experienced blowout.

4 Tire problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2000

After almost twice a month trips to the service provider and being told that my allignment was a result of my driving there was a recall posted for a part that caused allignment problems. Although this was eventually fixed, my tires suffered and had to be replaced very prematurely. After contacting goodyear and Chrysler I was told the tires were my responsibility and that the "bad" part would not have caused significant tire damage. I still feel that although the problem is better it is still apparent and I would like it to be resolved. After owning this car for less than 2 years the myriad of major component failures is rather frustrating especially when the Jeep service providers won't acknowledge the problem and seem to not care about their customers who pay their salaries. This is an embarressment to the american car industry.

5 Tire problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2000

When shifting vehicle in reverse it makes a loud noise and vehicle jerks. Dealership replaced tranfer case twice, and rebuiltd the driveshaft. The vehicle would not start due to fuel pump failure. Driver side wiper blade was worn out. Rear differntial was worn, also the rotors were replaced, the fule injection was serviced cleaned the throttle body, power steering fluid was serviced, tires were rotated, pinion bearings, front axles seals replaced.

6 Tire problem

While driving and upon trying to go from regular drive to 4 wheel drive, the transfer case malfunctions and will not go from one to the other. Consumer states vehicle has been in the shop for transmission problems, goodyear tires have been replaced 3 times within 26000 miles, rear axle seal was leaking oil, and hubs were warped.

7 Tire problem

Whenever braking after traveling 45mph and above vehicle will vibrate. Can maintain control when this happens. Been to dealership at least 3 times for problem. Problem is causing tires to wear out excessively due to rotors. Mechanic cannot resolve problem.

8 Tire problem

High speed vibration, repeated balancing does not eliminate( dot number: tire size: p225/75r16 ).
