The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that immediately after re-fueling, fuel spewed out of the filler neck. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel inlet valve was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle experienced the symptoms of recall 02v032 which caused it to smeel of gas everytime the vehicle was driven,the vehicle could not be repaired immediately because the dealer had no parts available, the consumer has to pay to rent a car while his vehicle was being repaired and is requesting reimbursement for the rental car.
Consumer states safety recall 02v032 regarding the fuel tank blocker bracket cannot be performed on vehicle due to the type of hitch installed on the vehicle. Dealership and manufacturer not willing to do anything.
