1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2022

My Jeep does the death wobble anytime I hit a small bump in the road, pothole, lane marker. . . Etc. It is very hard to control at that point and seems as though it might flip if it gets any worst or hit a big enough bump. It is very hard to control and to get to stop once it gets going. It poses a huge safety concern for myself and others being that I have to get the truck to stop when it does the death wobble which means someone coming behind me would/should have to stop as well and definitely is a nuisance to myself and other drivers. Please help. I have read and been told it could be any one of the steering or suspension components.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2022

There was an open recall for rear structural enhancement of the vehicle that required a hitch be installed. I scheduled the recalled repair, it was marked completed and I was told they are no longer doing that repair. My son works for another Jeep dealership and informed me they have to do that no matter how old and they are still performing the needed repair but mine has been marked closed so he is unable to help fix mine. How do I address this issue to have it completed correctly.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2019

Very loud noise still emitting from dashboard when vehicle after turning engine off. Has gotten louder after taken to dealership to have recall taken care of. Using today's date as a reference because it was significantly loudest of anytime I ever noticed. Today it was louder than ever. Thought my Jeep was going to explode.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2019

Unknown issue : I looked it up on youtube and people call it the death wobble? you drive down the road fine and then hit a small bump and the front end shakes uncontrollably at any speed. Loose control of steering due to the shaking! other issue is the cruise controller kicks on and the rpm spikes to red zonnnne the only way to disengage it is to turn vehicle off then back on!!!.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2019

The vehicle sometimes doesn't start and sometimes it starts just fine. Sometimes when you put it in drive it will die and sometimes it will run just fine. Sometimes it has a rough idle and will stall and die when driving down the road. And then when you start it back up again it will run just fine and then will stall and die again. We have taken it to the dealership and they replaced the coil pack and it is still doing the same thing. We have checked all of the grounds and there are no codes being displayed.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2019

Takata recall. Clock will not go off at anytime, so battery goes down overnight all the time. Brake and abs lights stays on while driving. Ignition key doesn't match door nor hatch locks. The exhaust system has vibration at times when in motion. When test driving this vehicle I just assumed the vehicle had been sitting with an older battery was why it needed to be jumped. Then after I got it home and it sat overnight and I had the same problem; I thought I'd left something turned on. Then I discovered that the clock will not go off. I purchased this vehicle on 5/17/2019 as is.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

My 2004 Jeep has 110,768 miles on it and durring the recent cold spell in western NY the heater and ac stopped working ! my windows fogged up and couldn't see , I was a sitting duck in the middle of the road as I couldnt see. I was told tjat the wiers under/inside the dash behind the glove bkx has melted causing it to short out ? this seems to be a recall issue as if the original wiers r melting during normal use it can cause a fire. Please recall and fix.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

The fuel tank skid plate is rusted and one of the straps are broke. Dont dare to drive for fear of tank falling out.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2018

I have called the Chrysler recall hotline and a dealership nearby to see if my car has a recall on the crankshaft positioning sensor because my car keeps dying while I'm driving down the road and idles rough. I did some research online and several websites showed a problem with my make and year model yet I cannot redeem a recall which I'm guessing is because it's VIN specific. I would just like my crankshaft positioning sensor replaced. My car has been know to die several times through the day with no warning. It has died multiple time going down george bush highway towards lewisville before you exit for main street and has even died in my way to school in the mornings which is only about 1/2 a mile. The calendar at the bottom of the page does not let me select more than one date which is troubling because I could put a check mark in a majority of days where it has died.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2017

Ignition switch-p41. I went to the garage one Saturday morning on my way to work and could not crank up my vehicle. The ignition would literally not turn the steering wheel or anything. The lights to the car would blink and my car wouldn't start with the key in the ignition; however, the safety recall is on a model car one year after mine. This is not the first time the ignition would not crank up. One time, I literally had to pull over and stop the car only to try and start it again but it wouldn't crank. In order for it to go, I had to bang on the ignition park to get it to turn the key and further start the ignition. The issues are the same as the recall but I'm out of pocket some $687. 00 at the dealership, which I had to wait 3 hours for a tow truck to come through. I do not understand why this model car was not covered under warranty as well. I am a single parent and it is so frustrating to try and provide for my child when I can't use the only transportation that I have plus the fact that it costs an arm and a leg just to fix. I cannot afford another car note at this time. Please consider the 2004 models in this recall.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2017

My husband was in an accident on April 20 2017 and he was hit dead on but the airbags did not deploy. However I did receive a recall form and when I called my local Jeep dealer he stated that the issue was already resolved but obviously it wasn't. He was hit so hard the entire steering wheel separated from the dashboard. He was hit on highway 231 traveling toward troy alabama.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2016

My 2004 has recently intermittently has been shutting down while driving. I have called Jeep and asked for help with diagnosing what is wrong and they refused. I have had it checked several times by my own mechanic and after numerous repairs the problem is still happening. There is no warning, sound, or rhyme or reason when it happens and it happens in traffic. It is a very dangerous deffect, whatever, it is and since noone at Jeep seems to want to help I am filing a complaint for others who may have this same type of vehicle to beware. There was a recall on this year vehicle in 2004 brand new when the car came out on the crankshaft sensor which does cause intermittent stalling but again Jeep would not assist me to diagnose if this is the problem. It always happen while moving in traffic again without any warning. It is not so much that it stalls - the vehicle literally shuts down. Almost like its a safety issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2016

Fca recall r60/NHTSA 15v-673 after I got the mail on may 10, I immediately called the dealer hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram at duluth GA. I was told the part would be available in one day, so I scheduled an appointment on may 14. On may 14, I got up at 8am and drove more than 30 miles for this recall service. I waited at the dealer place for more than 2 hours before they told me that the parts was not available. They told me they would call me when the part was going to be in stock within 3-5 days, however they never called me until I called them on may 20. I reschedule the second appointment with them on may 20 for 9am. I got up early and drove that far to there, and the only thing I could find after spending another 2 hours is that they told me the part they have is not the right one. I feel very frustrated about this recall service and I am doubting about the quality of the service from the fca dealer. I would not believe a dealer who should make a mistake just on ordering the recall part, would get this recall service done right.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

Takata recall. The advice is not to drive too much , should I let my wife drive it? my complaint is that there is no thought for the consumer. So why do we have NHTSA? could you answer that question?.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2015

Yes, there is Jeep recall n47 to install hitch on my 2004 Grand Cherokee. But the part that is at dealership doesnt fix my veh. . So I guess were all out of luck. As the hitch wont mount to veh, as its the wrong size.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

Receive a n47 customer care satisfaction notice (rear structural reinforcement) . When I contacted customer care they told me because my Jeep did not have a trailer hitch I did not need to have it inspected and have a hitch installed. My gas tank is behind the rear axle and hangs below the bumper. I belive that something should be done I think it presents a danger in a rear end collision. I think they just want to avoid the expense.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2015

I just got a copy of the n47 rear structural reinforcement recall. You people have got to be kidding me. Who took the payoff on this one? there is absolutely no difference between the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee when these vehicles get hit from behind when the gas tank explodes. The 1999-2004 need to be included under the n45 recall same as the 1998 and earlier models. As we all know the 1998 and earlier Jeep Grand Cherokees are a fading model due to the age of the vehicles. Meaning that Chrysler will not have to spend as much money to fix these 1998 and earlier models as they would if you included the 1999-2004 models which should be included because they have exactly the same structural problem and will be on the road longer. My goodness this is common sense. Chrysler needs to do the right thing. I want my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee recalled and fixed. Dealers have quoted me pricing between $600. 00-$750. 00 to have this fixed correctly on my model. How about having Jeep just give me the parts and I will fix it myself. (that's a joke) anyway forward this to Chrysler/Jeep for me and make sure my complaint gets registered, so that when this rear structural mishap happens to me and I survive the incident everyone will have copies when the lawsuits begin. Thank you very much for reading this. Mike oettinger.

Vehicle stalls out and loses total power (engine shuts off ) while driving. This has happened several times and there is no pattern as to when or why it occurs this is extremely hazardous, trying to steer your suddenly powerless vehicle to the shoulder of the road and out of harms way.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

I cannot believe they got out of the recall of the gas tanks for my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I bet you are all filling your pockets at our expense for the 2nd time. Did we not bail them out? are we not paying for that? Chrysler Jeep is a crappy product. Not only am I driving an unsafe vehicle transporting my sick mother to many doctor appointments for her cancer, but no one wants to acknowledge it. Who is asleep at the wheel? I also think they should be investigated regarding the design of my Jeep for building it so any repairs in front of the steering wheel requires a full dash removal. Just for that it is $1,000. 00 not including parts. My estimate came to $1,400. 00 just to replace a hinge and a flap for the heat on the passenger side. Really!! even the service techs at Jeep dealers think it was built that way to make money in the service dept. They say they would never buy this product, and they work for Jeep. Crappy design, cheap product. Everything is made of plastic. Shut them down!! they can buy my Jeep back.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2012

I see that there is a recall for 2000-2002 Jeep cherokee vehicles with the electric radiator fan. I am wondering if that recall or problem extended to the 2004 model as well. Every year since I purchase my Jeep, used, I have had to replace the radiator. For some reason, it overheats and all of the coolant runs out. I have taken it to multiple mechanics and they all tell me that the radiator need to be replaced. However, I need to figure out what's the recurrent underlying cause to this.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2012

Engine light keeps coming on all codes are checked, repaired, replaced. Pcm has been replaced twice and was told that it is in need of replacement again! could there be an internal problem with the computer system?.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2011

I have had to replace all 4 window regulators because of a defect. It has cost me over $1200. 00 for all 4 to be replaced over time. It seems strange to me that all 4 have had to be replaced and the part cost over $325. 00 just for the parts not counting the labor . The window just suddenly falls down and will not stay rolled up. I purchased this car brand new and it has been taken very good care of. I would like to be re-imbursed for all of my expensed considering this cannot be a fluke since all 4 have had to be replaced and no one ever sits in the back so it has not been worn out from use. Please let me know what can be done about this problem. The dealer said this is just and issue with Jeeps and they always keep a large amount of regulators on hand. I think this is just a way for Jeep to make money on parts and this should not be allowed to continue since the parts are just a piece of plastic and cost over 300. 00 per window and we have to have our windows fixed. I would like to be contacted to see if I can pursue a claim to be re-imbursed from Jeep.
