Shudders when in stationary position.
When describing what happened with your vehicle, tell us specifically if the vehicle was stationary, in motion, on a city street or a highway, turning, braking, etc. Describe the fault or problem that created the unsafe condition. If you know, state the component part or system that you believe may be the cause of the safety risk. If you are uncertain, simply state unknown and provide your best assessment of the incident and cause in your description. If you have other information - repair invoices, police accident reports, insurance claim forms, etc. - scan them electronically and upload them along with your complaint. If your complaint is about a recall and you have the recall number available, please provide it. Additionally, if you later obtain information and evidence related to your complaint, please retain it for at least five years, in the event that we contact you for further information. Less.
At random times while driving, while in park, and just after startup, all dashboard gauges, lights, and power goes out, headlights turn off, but the engine still runs. I cannot see what is in front of me at night, I cannot tell my speed, I cannot see my fuel level, etc. The outage lasts from 2-30 seconds before every single warning light will illuminate for a few seconds, or flicker on and off, and then return to normal. I replaced the ignition 2 years ago from a previous recall notice. This is extremely dangerous because I never know when it will happen, it could happen at night on a heavily trafficked street and I lose all power and lights!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, when she she depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle deceased the speed. The contact stated she then depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle hesitation forcefully forward. The contact stated the abs, tracker control, service electrical braking system and service 4wheel drive warning light was illuminated. The contact stated she continued driving the vehicle to her residence while the vehicle continued to experience the failure. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic, and was unable to diagnosed a failure code. The contact stated she has replaced the brakes, rotors and calipers but continued to experience the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer has not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 240,272. Dp.
Driving down the road, the and and traction control lights come on while driving and tranny doesn't shift causing loss of brakes and revving of engine.
Its all on city streets when I'm driving the abs lights come on and my engine lights comes on and off I have to shut the car off and restart it then it says everything is ok. When I come to a stop light and stop it dies but starts right back up.
I was driving on the highway going about 65-70 and I lost all throttle response so my speed fell tremendously and I put on my hazards and I had to get over avoiding traffic. Almost got into a wreck before I got into the emergency lane. Once I pulled over I turned it off and turned my car back on and everything seemed fine. The same thing happened to me twice before I got home. It was my scariest ride home. I called the dealer ship and I took it in. They told me to replace my throttle body so I did this and had it reprogrammed. Drove it for a few days and it did the same thing. They said this it might be a bad throttle body but I've been reading around and a lot of other people have this problem and there dealerships has no idea what it's is.

I purchased my 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3. 7l v6 with 79k miles on it June 21, 2016. In July of 2017, it started to bog down with a constant shutter when starting up and accelerating, the cel was also on. I took it in to have the cel checked out and it was showing 22 codes saying that the O2 sensor had a high voltage circuit. Upon examinng and testing the O2 sensor there was nothing found to be wrong. A couple weeks later the cel came on again, but this time it showed the same O2 sensor was running lean and rich at the same time. I replaced the sensor at that time. Now it is showing another code p0430 and the timing chain for the electronic shift transmission is jumping. I was informed this happens to these transmissions all the time and there is no repair for it. All I can do is drive it until it goes and buy a new transmission. This is not fair.
Getting indications that elect- brake problem indications, skid control indications, and air conditioner not working.
Electronic shifter module had gone out. Park reverse neutral in and drive are the only functions available. To downshift from drive fourth, third, second, and first have lost all ability. Primarily the driving of the vehicle is through the streets of san francisco and the ability to downshift is necessary to avoid collision and to climb the steep hills. Not only for myself, but for anybody else with this problem for example: driving to an exit ramp from speeds of 65 and needing to decelerate to 25 would be very difficult and major where on the brake system. Now for climbing the hills of san francisco in a high gear puts a major stress on the transmission. Please take into consideration that the electronic shifter module should be recalled for safety . This vehicle has already been recalled for an ignition and has been replaced but I received several notices from Jeep starting out as simple and is nicely put his please see your service dealership there is a recall and to the extreme of receiving notices that said your vehicle has a recall and you are putting other peoples lives in danger by neglecting to have it fixed. I have done my homework and the ignition and was told from a dealership that it was not necessary since I only use the key with no keychain. I have also done my homework on the electronic shifter module and there are many people who have made videos or testimonies about their Jeeps having the problem of the ability not to downshift through the electronic shifter module. In the past 12 years I pray that there has been no accidents in direct relation to this electronic shifter module but if you're a driver you know that every gear on the vehicle is there for a reason and rely on the safety of the vehicle.
1. Door handles broken on 3 doors 2. Electrical system - lights flickering and completely going out while driving at night. 3. Transmission slips out of gear while driving and will not always change gears. Found where other Grand Cherokee vehicles were recalled for these conditions but not the one I own.
On 04/23/2016 I took my vehicle for a recall, p41 / NHTSA 14v-438 today is 7/10/2016 and the vehicle has done the same thing twice, all of a sudden all the lights in the dash board go on I loose power and after a while it starts up again. Like I said before this has happen twice now I lost my cruise control and a service electrical brake system is coming on and engine light. I fear that this is going to cause me to have an accident one day and there for I have been using only secondary roads that don't have much traffic.
Vehicle without any warning, stalls, loses power, will not accelerate, loss of power means loss stearing and braking. This has occured three times, almost resulting in catastrophic accidents.
About eight months ago Chrysler contacted me via a letter informing me of a recall for unintended changes in ignition switch position in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have called them three times already since I received the letter notice when will they fix my car. Chrysler said that soon they will send me another letter once they have the parts to fix my car so I can take my car to get repaired at the dealer. Eight months have passed and Chrysler has not contacted me to fix my car. Everytime I call their recall hotline all they say they will contact me next month and nothing is being done to fix my car. This is the main reason I am disputing this issue with the national highway traffic safety administration due to neglect by Chrysler. I need help to get my car fixed. Driving my car is unsafe and riskfull to my life and my family.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, the contact attempted to slow their vehicle down however, the power steering and brakes failed which resulted in a crash. The contact also stated that the air bags did not deploy. The front passenger had sustained a injury and medical attention was required. The contact did not recall if a police report was filed. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number:14v438000 (electrical system) however, the parts to do the repair where unavailable. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but there was no diagnosis. The contact had also been involved in a previous crash in which she believed the cause of the failure was also related to NHTSA campaign number:14v438000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicles failure mileage was 185,000. Mm.
This vehicle has quit running several times since we have owned it while drivingthe engine will just quit. We can move the shift lever in neutral and it will start back up, but this is still dangerous, especially when my wife is driving. It has happened to her 3 times now and happened to me 2 times in about last 5 years.

The contact also stated that the vehicle warning indicator all come on whenthe vehicleis started and it has stalled twice. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Bp.
I have been waiting and waiting to get this problem rendered. I received a recall notice about the faulty ignition switch and the slew of possible fatal consequences should anything occur. The recall notice is p41/NHTSA 14v-438, and ive been told I would receive a second recall notice in September 2015. Well, im still waiting!!. Meanwhile I am driving a potentially dangerous vehicle and have been for quite awhile. I have no choice. I have already noticed my check engine light stays lit on my dash, as well as my airbag light as well indicating that I already have issues occurring that are according to the recall notice is linked to this problem. I want this fixed. I cant afford to buy another vehicle and need the one I have. However, am I suppossed to get seriously injured or killed first? then what,? a family member receives a check? who cares about the money if I'm killed? I am seriously annoyed and concerned, please render this issue. And I'm sick of hearing "we dont have the part". I need this vehicle fixed now!!! its been too long already.
While driving the ligths on the intrument cluster, radio, ac and lights shut off as well as loss of power steering and enging shut off. Including the brakes, accelator, and all electrical system. Leaving me with absolute no control over the vehicle. I noticed the ignition key had slipped into the forward off position while the vehicle was in motion, creating a deadly hazard as it results in loss of all funtionality of the vehicle. When I tried to restart the vehicle, my vehicle will nott start up right away has to turn the key couple of times to get my vehicle started.
The check engine light came on as I was leaving work. So I took it to auto zone and they did a diagnostic on it and they came back with a few possible oxygen sensor, exhaust leak, engine malfunction indicator. So I made an appointment with a Chrysler dealership. The check engine light stayed on a couple of days then when I left work the afternoon I was to take it in to dealership the check engine light didn't come on. When I got to dealership I told them the light didn't come on. They said they might still try to figure out problem doing a diagnostic. Anyway a couple hours later they came back and said it was the (tcm) which is the transfer control module. It's in the computer part and it causes hesitation in the transmission and could cause other problems if not fixed. Now mind you it's a $900 fix which is expensive. My particular vehicle has a nag on it, it's part of the mcgeorge Mercedes Benz Jeep Grand Cherokee. I'm surprised there's been no recall on this.
Jeep shudders during engagement /acceleration. Ac evaporator condensate water causing shuddering in vehicle. Vehicle appears to want to shut off at stop light, rpm's drop drastically and shudders at take off.
After dealer performed recall 13v175000, traction control is inoperative but no lights are illuminated to indicate the failure of the traction control system. Also, shifting the transfer case is inoperative. No warning lights or informational messages are displayed to indicate the loss of functionality. Dealer has cleared codes and replaced parts multiple times, but the problem remains. Safety issues are: 1. Driving in remote areas in low range, and being unable to shift into high range prevents driving on paved roads. . . Which could leave a driver stranded. 2. Failure of traction control system could result in loss of control, especially in winter.
Well they say third times a charm. . . Or will it be death? the first incident happened when I was alone in the vehicle as I was making a left hand turn across traffic my Jeep just shut down leaving me powerless. . By that I mean nothing no steering no breaks no nothing! thank the gods there was no oncoming traffic at the time. The second time was a bit more nerving as my 6 year old son and myself were on the highway keeping up with the 65-70 mph flow of cars,SUV's & tractor trailers when all of the sudden my engine power just slumbered off to a crawl. If I had been in one lane over and 3 seconds behind we would not be here today to tell this unsightly story! again thank the gods for looking over us or it would be another statistic on the road and another young child left without a mother (my daughter that wasn't with me at the time)so I ask how many must die or get injured before manufactures man up to their mistakes? the loss of money is nothing it can be replaced but lives can not!!!.
We received a recall notice June 2014 for ignition switch. My vehicle dash board, gauges hear, air, everything shuts off at least 5 times a week. I am told from subclass that the part is still not in. In doing research, I have found the some cars completing shut down. Some while driving 60 on a highway. This needs to be fixed. I feel that over a year is long enough. I need my Jeep fixed and safe to drive around with my 4 year old grandson in the back seat. Thanks, deb.
I "recall" driving one evening on a major highway in my recently purchased 05 Grand Cherokee when suddenly I lost all power. I was traveling in a congested area at 65 mph with lots of semi's surrounding me. Thank the god's I happen to be on the perfect incline leading to an off ramp at the time of this engine power failure. I'd hate to imagine the out come had I been one lane over a few seconds prior! my son who was only 5 at the time was a bit freaked out from the whole ordeal. But my biggest complaint is the fact that I'm a Jeep girl and a faithful one but after my constant battle with this less then desirable hunk of junk I'm thinking of cheating with a Ford! after my daily failures with this thing I did some research and found that this vehicle far surpasses the two recalls in my short 3 years of ownership. I'm most upset with my dealership due to the fact they forgot to mention a few hundred drivers of this prior rental truck with an accident that was more than a skip over the curb. They offered but never made good on providing me with owners manual. . . Guess they were worried I would notice the past safety recalls that were never done. So I have had and continue to have every system malfunction on this heap known to mechanics. I'm sick and tired of paying for things that "jeeps are known for" when in truth its all been a result to the viscous cycle of recalls that were either never done or never the proper fix to begin with. So I beg the heads, money and engineers of Chrysler group llc to get your shit together and do the right thing by removing the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5. 7 liter with a hemi death trap off the roads! its quite obvious from the first recall only three months after its manufacturer date this truck was meant to fail. . . !!! so please stop the duct it fix it or f__k it!.
Dashboard lights and service electrical brake system come on and off while driving. When the dashboard flickers all gauges shut down while driving. Major safety hazard. Researched on internet and this is a global issue with 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokees.
After only 31,000 miles the right front abs and traction control system on a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee failed to work, causing erratic stopping, moving and braking. The car stopped in the middle of traffic and had to be accelerated rapidly to avoid a crash.
This problem started when vehicle was new. You would be riding down the road and all the electrical would fail. Instrument warning lights come on. In some instance the engine shut down. No steering or brakes. It was taken to dealer several times and they said they did this or did that. Problem seemed to go away for a while and then it would do it again. This was problem form the very start when we bought the Jeep. We spent way to much time at the dealer with no fix and we still have the problem. This is a very serious problem and very unsafe.
