A week ago before incident, power steering pump fluid level showed normal. About 63 miles later, the vehicle got steering wheel become stiff and near impossible to turn either direction. Then engine overheated very quickly and then engine stalled without warning. There was no "engine check" warning on instrument. A/c stopped working just before overheated. Found antifreeze solution leaked out into street surface. Next day, the vehicle had to tow and delivered to Jeep dealer sane date as incident. They informed me about problem was failed power steering pump assembly because of fluid leaked. That same pump also drive twin cooling fans instead of electric motor. I learned Chrysler knew about this incident and then redesigned later model quietly. I also found many incident from online forum as so many owners have same kind of experience. There was no recall from Chrysler because it related to near lock-up steering wheel. If I drive over 65 mph on I-95 would lead lost control with steering wheel. No computer system detect this situation because there was no sensor to watch for fluid level in the steering pump. No warning at all until incident. Paid 100 dollars for lifetime service contract through Chrysler. This situation, Chrysler should recall to prevent lost steering control and avoid engine overheating and possible engine damage. They avoid to use electric cooling fans to save money. Use hydraulic from power steering pump was not Smart way included lack of sensor(s) for computer for early warning. This kind of incident, must recall to correct the situation as I asked them if new power steering pump had been updated. No answer this question and learned the pump made by Toyota and there are many owners as mentioned above that face unexpectedly failures. This incident consider as dangerous and harmful to owner/passenger(s) safety.
