I just purchased this vehicle, in may 2023 and I have honestly had nothing but problems. I have no idea what is causing this but the speedometer/odometer does not work at all (all the lights and warning symbols work, cruise control doesn't work, tpm is lit up on the dash as I checked all the tires and all has same to, the key fob buttons worked when it wanted to (has new battery it was replaced 3'xs already) key fob would not stop alarm from going off most days and key fob would also not start my Jeep would have to keep trying before it did start and now it doesn't do anything. It doesn't start doesn't turn over nothing expect for the alarm going off non stop had to disconnect the horn and we pulled a relay to have it stop. We tried disconnecting the battery post to hopefully reset it, didn't work. I also had a res dot start blinking and I read up on all this and red dot is anti theft was activated. I been reading up on the reason and I keep getting the wireless control module and sentry key as the problem. I also seen that many other vehicles same as mine has had the same exact same problem. Some had theirs come up as a recall. Why is this vehicle listed as not having any recalls. Clearly something is going on with these vehicles that shouldn't be. I for one didn't cause this problem and I certainly can not afford to get this resolved on my own. I had my truck for only 2 weeks before it broke down. Please help.
Passenger mirror did not pass state safety inspection because it became cloudy from the automatic defroster mechanism. Vehicle inspector informed us this was the case, mirror has not been otherwise damaged in an accident, we will pay $500 to replace it. Component is available for inspection. Has been cloudy for several years, this is the first time it failed state inspection.
The key will not come out of the ignition. The key gets stuck all the time. Vehicle starts properly, but does not shut off correctly since the key is stuck in the vehicle. Takes several hours to until key can be taken out properly and vehicle is completely turned off the right way.
Paint peeling off on roof. Payed a lot of money for this Jeep, never had a paint problem on any Jeep or car I had before, going to cost me 1,258. 00 to fix, still making payments on this Jeep, should be recalled, I am not happy, don't think I am getting another Jeep, this is my 4 th, and I love them. But.
Fob falling out of ignition switch. Car was in drive but was not being driven as was stopped at gate which was opening. When fob fell out engine stopped. Happened multiple times now. The described was the most recent. Very dsngerous. We plan to take it to dealer.
Vehicle turns off while driving, loss of brakes, steering and propulsion is loss. Vehicle does this randomly and it is not the first time.
4 issues: 1. Vehicle will not restart right away after the key fob has been turned off and sometimes I have to get out and disengage the battery for it to start again. 2. Key fob will come out of ignition when it is turned to accessory. 4. Key fob is able to come out when vehicle is running. 3. Sometimes key will not come out of ignition if it locks up. There are recalls on this problem with Jeeps but for some reason not my vehicle. I did have it fixed at the Jeep dealer but it is doing the same thing after $600. 00 . This is a safety feature when the key comes out of the ignition before turning vehicle off.
Driver-side and passenger-side interior door handles both (at different times) just broke for no reason and started crumbling in pieces. It started about a year ago. I asked about it at our dealership. They informed me there were no recalls or anything. I looked it up online and saw that there have been many Jeep cherokees having this same issue and no one understands why there has been no recall on this common problem. My handles have gotten so bad that I am afraid of the safety issue for my family and I now. Of course the vehicle was stationary, as we were trying to get out of the vehicle when both of the handles did this.
On August 26, 2014, this 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo 4x4 vehicle was involved in an accident causing serious cervical and spinal injuries to a pedestrian. This vehicle was in a parked position, accelerated without the driver touching the accelerator pedal, kept moving forward on its own accord until the vehicle ultimately stopped after striking a building metal staircase. Please investigate this safety issue to prevent further personal injury and, or properly damage.
Twice within the past month, my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee with approximately 85,000 miles has stalled on me while driving. Both times I took it to a garage; the second time I took it to a Jeep dealer/service center. No codes were thrown either time and neither service person was able to duplicate the problem. It may be a coincidence, but both times this happened, I had filled my tank with gas that day. On both instances, I was able to put the car in park and restart the car with no issues. Additionally, for the past few months, the car often does not start on the first try. It will start with no problems on the second attempt. Dealership has replaced the win module; this did not seem to help. The throttle bottle was also replaced in case that was causing the stalling; that did not help either. I now feel as if I am risking my life and my kids' lives every time I step into the car and take it on the highway. If this stalling issue happens on a highway, we could be killed in an instant. Very dangerous and the service people don't seem all that concerned. . . They can't pinpoint the issue so they charge me $100+ and send me on my way.
The vehicle has on more than one occasion stalled while driving.
While I am driving the key will flip back, thus shutting the car off while in motion. It has happened several times, hitting bumps, and simply driving along the road. Everything will lock up, can not steer, I have almost wrecked on several occasions.
Driving 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee on highway at 65 mph. Right front tire instantly went flat preceeded by a low tire pressure indicator. Auto club installed spare and noted that the tire valve (tire pressure monitor wheel sensor) was gone. Tire dealer checked tire (now damaged beyond repair) and found the pressure sensor fell into the wheel because the threaded nut that holds the sensor in place failed and separated from the wheel while driving. Inspection of sensor assembly showed clear evidence of severe corrosion to the threads which allowed retaining nut to separate at highway speeds. Inspection by tire dealer of all other wheels showed similar condition. Vehicle is regularly maintained by Jeep dealer shops, driven primarily in NY state. This issue is worse than driving on low pressure tires as it occurs catastrophically. The tire pressure monitor sensor on the vehicle is 100% oem (no dissimilar metals in use). Cannot believe there is no indication from manufacturer of this defect or suggested preventative actions.
