The contact owned a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 40-45 mph, the vehicle rear-ended another Jeep vehicle stopped at the red light; however, the air bags failed to deploy. The contact mentioned that there was no brake pedal depressed in attempts to stop, therefore the vehicle was going at full speed. The windshield washer fluid warning light was flashing, and there was smoke coming from the driver's side front end of the vehicle after the crash. The contact stated that the radiator was caved in due to the impact. The contact did not sustain major injuries. The vehicle was towed and totaled by the insurance company. A police report was filed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 187,000. The VIN and the license plate numbers were not available.
The horn has stopped working and it appears to be the clock spring. This is a safety hazard as it can cause the airbags to engage randomly or not engage in the case of a crash. This is an expensive repair that should not be at the expense of the owner since it is a defect in the clock spring. I am aware that there have been clock spring recalls on other models of Jeeps, but not on this one.
The contact owned a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while her nephew was driving at 51 mph, a drunk driver in the opposite direction nearly caused a head-on collision. The contact's nephew veered to the left, but the other driver's vehicle swiped the rear passenger door and rear quarter panel. The vehicle jerked and flipped three times before landing on its roof in a residential yard. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's nephew was unharmed, but the contact's son and a third passenger were injured. The contact's son was transported by ambulance to the hospital with a fractured neck, but the right vertebral artery was unable to be detected. The third passenger was airlifted to the hospital with a fractured sternum and internal bleeding after a plastic piece from the front passenger seat dislodged and struck the third passenger's chest. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 215,000.
I was in a head on accident with a vehicle, then a building. Traveling at approved 55 mph. My airbags did not deploy.
Me and my girlfriend where driving when out of no where the air bags deploed causing us to crash. There was no warning lights on the car. No one has had a chance to look into this other then me and the research that I have done I did find that there is an open investigation for the airbigs and this Jeep was listed as one of the possible affected cars im not sure what I shoud do next that is why im reaching out to you guys.
I have gone back and forth to the dealership since I purchased my Jeep. It’s been a horrific time dealing with all of the issues. Seatbelt sensor’s, windshield sensor, fuel pump problem over and over. I’m alive by the grace of god, while on the freeway the Jeep latterly stop. Completely died on me. Nothing to warned me simply shut off. For the longest all I got from the dealership was no replacement was available. Finally in December 2021 it was replaced. But right after I drove off the lot the air bag light came on, I returned to the service department and once the service technician turned on the Jeep- nothing came on. So I went home a few weeks later the same thing on and then off . It would stay on for a couple of days then off. Now it’s on for months and off for about a day two the most. The lights on the dashboard are continuous flickering on and off. I’m so tired of all of the problems this vehicle has it’s ridiculous. I need some one to please look into this. I have spent over $5000. 00 dollars on diagnostic testing and repairs from extra work other then the normal expense’s. I’m at the end of my patience with this.
Headrest deployed on its own. I came out to my car 1 day and my airbag was headrest was deployed.
My paint on the roof of my Jeep Grand Cherokee started bubbling and visible rust started appearing. After about a month my windshield cracked all the way across starting from where the rust made the paint bubble, this is the only part of the vehicle with any rust. I had usaa send safelite to come repair my windshield and what I thought was minor rust damage. To my horror the damage from the bad paint/seal was extensive and the windshield can’t be replaced until the body of the Jeep is fixed. The windshield needing replaced is the original from the factory no part of my Jeep has ever been replaced, the only reason it needs to be fixed is because of the faulty paint/seal. I now have no windshield or drivable car. I have reached out and there are quite a few Jeep owners that experienced this same issue in the same exact location. It is now being held on by tape so there isn’t just a huge hole in the car. The day it cracked the vehicle had not left my driveway, but now my car is not in a state to drive anywhere. Also in outside temperatures exceeding 80 the seat belt warning light and air bag light come on, sometimes it stays sometimes it goes away. However when the airbag light is on it prevents them from deploying in case of an incident which could cause more serious injury or death. I have three open recalls as well, I call roberson Jeep of salem in March of 2021, I have not heard anything about the parts being ready, I called in June 2021 about an update and they have not started my claim.
Dash board is severely wrinkled. This could possibly interfere with the integrity of the air bags.
Passenger side headrest air bag popped a few months ago smacking me in the back of the head. Didn't think much of it, couldn't reset it. Got an email about how it was available for service and dealership said there's no such thing after looking at. Seams strange the headrest airbag would just pop and mot be resettable.
SUV entered intersection on a city street. And was struck on the right front panel. I believe the car spun to the left and clipped the rear end of the truck. SUV came to rest with front end against a tree. I was doing approx 25 mph. The truck that struck me appeared to be going a bit faster. None of the airbags deployed. I suffered broken bones in my neck.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to defective air bag clock spring in the steering wheel. The consumer stated the part necessary to complete the repair was on back order. The consumer stated the vehicle was not included in the airbag recall.
Air ride suspension airbags has to be recharged every month since 2019. While parked front end becomes low (during 1-month period) not leaving appropriate distance from wheel to top of wheel well, resulting is a very bumping ride, until recharged. Brand new oem lines and compressor replaced. Also, while driving 40 mph or less, "air suspension needs service" notification comes on. Front of hood (where the chrome Jeep is displayed) exterior now shows paint corrosion.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the entire dashboard leather are buckling. The contact afraid for her safety that the air bag might deploy in the event of an accident had taken the vehicle to south county Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram dealer, located at 7127 s lindbergh blvd, st. Louis, mo 63125, and was quoted a repair fees. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty and did not offer further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 52,925. Aw.
Dash cover coming unglued affecting defrost function and may affect airbag deployement. 04/01/2018.
Leather dash is bubbling and peeling which is causing dash mounted windshield defroster vents to be blocked. Blocked vents can not provide heat to the windshield causing ice build-up on the windshield during cold winter months. This results in blocked/impaired vision while on the roadway which could result in a crash. The leather dash has also bubbled over the passenger airbag which could affect the deployment of the airbag during a crash.
- all lights in instrument cluster illuminated, air suspension disabled, vehicled locked out in 4x4 low, wipers activated, no exterior lights including brake lights working. - vehicle would not detect key, unsafe to operate, this occurred on 2 occasions while driving.
The front dash of my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is bubbling up and may cause a problem with air bag deployment. Multiple complaints on this same problem and keeps getting worse.
The leather dash cover is coming undone from the back forward and is bubbling and buckling. I am worried this will affect the airbags.
The leather from the dash is coming off and bubbling up. I am afraid this will affect the airbag deployment.
I noticed the leather dash bubbling a couple of months ago. Since then it's gotten much worse. After researching, it is the result of an incomplete process in the manufacturing from a vendor. The dash has bubbled so bad that the defrost vents asr distorted and no longer are effective. Also, it appars it could directly cause an ineffective deployment of the passenger airbag. Both are major safety hazards. After talking with both fca and a local dealership I was told there was nothing they could do. This is an issue that fca has known about for years with many complaints but refuses to correct the defect.
Was involved in a collision wherein I was "t-boned" on the driver's side door/pillar while crossing a four lane intersection. My vehicle subsequently flipped multiple times before coming to a rest. I was able to crawl out of the car with my dog via the rear passenger side door. Not one single airbag deployed during the incident, including the side-impact airbags form the collision itself nor the side curtain airbags from the multiple rollovers. When I asked Jeep to investigate, I was sent a letter essentially saying: "your accident wasn't severe enough to warrant airbag deployment. " - this despite, as I said, it being a multiple rollover event. My injuries consisted of soreness on my left side, a laceration on my right hand, and a heck of a bump on my head. Needless to say, I was extremely fortunate my injuries weren't worse; however, myself and practically everyone else including the officers and emts were baffled at the fact that not one single airbag deployed. I have photos of the vehicle after the wreck showing exterior damage as well as interior shots showing no airbag deployment.
Leather dash is delaminating and bubbleling around airbag.
Leather dashboard has wrinkled to an extent it could affect the deployment of the front airbags.
Car stalls without warning. Collided with tree, major front end damage. No power steering, power brakes, no air bags were deployed, seat belts did not tension. Vehicle had stalled previously and take to dealer. Dealer replaced ignition coils and said problem was fixed.
My front dashboard is peeling up and I'm worried that my air bags are affected.
Leather dashboard is separating from dashboard and may cause issue if airbag should deploy. This defect has been on the news. I filed a complaint with Chrysler in 2016. Since then, I've made trips to the dealership only to have the person submitting pictures be terminated. Now Chrysler will not respond to my requests to have this fixed. I've kept all communication. There's no way with the entire leather dash separating from the dash the passenger airbag be able to deploy properly. I've followed up and been as patient as possible looking for a remedy.
Tl-the contact own a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the air bags auto deployed which caused the vehicle to crash into a mailbox. The contact sustained injuries to the right arm, shoulders and left waist side medical attention was required. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000. Lb.
This past July, on an extremely hot afternoon, while driving on the highway, I noticed that the leather covering on the dashboard from window to glove box was lifting and wrinkling before my eyes. Under this area of the dash are airbags. I pulled off the highway and relayed this information to a mechanic friend, he felt that I'd be able to continue driving safely until I reached my destination, but should immediately call my Jeep dealership once I arrived. I have since spoken with my dealership and Chrysler several times and they keep telling me it's a cosmetic defect and the dash just wasn't glued properly when manufactured. I have been told they will repair it at a discounted price of $500 because my car is over the warrantee. I am extremely concerned that my in-dash airbags may deploy at anytime and don't feel this repair should be at my expense, especially with the most recent recalls but can't get anyone at Chrysler to take this seriously. Is there any information supporting my concern?.
My husband was in an accident on a sunny morning with no precipitation or ice involved while driving in a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He was not speeding or found responsible for this accident. A Chrysler authorized body shop and the insurance company totaled the car based on the steering column, electrical system, the airbags, as well as the seat belts - which we found strange since we drove the car from the accident. It has been over a year now that he has been dealing with the aftermath of this accident - a traumatic brain injury from this small collision, still out to work, having trouble functioning, and trying to get some answers as to how an airbag that deployed at a speed of 30 mph or less can injure someone so much. Fca (which is now Chrysler) is not giving us any straight answers as to whether this case is involved with the tanaka airbag recall situation. Based on their actions we feel that fca doesn't want to pay for/take responsibility for the vehicles that they have inherited from Chrysler. Through our dealings with fca we are learning that they cannot be trusted to do what they say they are going to do. Fca has told us a few different stories about the orc module, airbags, and seat belts, what we have found is that fca is a group of liars and this needs to be looked into by the federal government immediately as fca is directly putting american safety at risk. We were very loyal Jeep customers prior to the fca buyout because of Chrysler's previous track record of safety and their reliability as a company to take care of important issues like these, fca is not following in their footsteps and I hope all who read this that can do something about this will.
Dashboard delaminating, buckling, bubbling full dashboard warped. Air vents are warped and don't sit properly possibly affecting window defogger. Concerned if airbag on right side would work properly.
My problem is with my totally integrated power module (tipm). It is faulty and needs replaced and so are 25,000 other 2011 vehicles in the USA. Part is on backorder and there is a business problem with the vendor. I am flagging this situation as a life, health, and safety matter now because you have on file 5 - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee accidents where the air bags were written up in the police reports as not deploying. This goes right back to the tipm which is the brains of the whole vehicle. The air bags are wired into the totally integrated power module. This is the case where you need to connect the dots. There are thousands of us out there that won't start because we need the tipm. What about the other thousands out there that didn't develop the fault yet in the tipm but in the event of an accident the odds that the air bags don't deploy has been greatly increased. This consumer/Jeep owner has no faith at all that my bags will ever deploy when needed. When my Jeep is returned to me I am immediately trading it in. Nhtsa needs to force Chrysler to make a recall, they will never do it on their own. Air bag NHTSA id numbers: 10430083; 10536377; 10483929; 10463107; 10445572.
Oct 5, 2011 I was in an accident, 3 car pile up. My head hit the steering wheel I suffered a concussion, facial contusion, hematoma.
