3 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the automatic windows raised up in only small intervals. The contact felt that this was a safety issue if a quick exit was required. While driving with the cruise control engaged, braking was required and the vehicle almost came to a complete stop. The failure nearly caused the contact's vehicle to be rear ended. New carlisle Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram - tobey auto group (580 n main st, new carlisle, OH 45344) required the contact to leave the vehicle for a couple of days with no guarantee of being diagnosed. The contact did not leave the vehicle at the dealer and it was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 39,000.

4 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

Dash cover coming unglued affecting defrost function and may affect airbag deployement. 04/01/2018.

5 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2018

Leather dash is bubbling and peeling which is causing dash mounted windshield defroster vents to be blocked. Blocked vents can not provide heat to the windshield causing ice build-up on the windshield during cold winter months. This results in blocked/impaired vision while on the roadway which could result in a crash. The leather dash has also bubbled over the passenger airbag which could affect the deployment of the airbag during a crash.

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the front windshield defroster was inoperable. When the heater was activated, cool air entered the vehicle. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to buchanan & young incorporated (713 e main st, burnsville, nc 28714) where it was diagnosed that the entire fan housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 877-426-5337 and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer asked the contact to call NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 51,177.

8 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

The leather covering on the dash closest to the windshield is pulling loose and buckling causing the defrost vents to pull up which is creating a problem defrosting the windshield. We have not used any type of cleaner or leather polish on this either. It is my understanding that the 2011 Jeep's have this issue. I want to know what the manufacture is going to do about this issue.

9 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2016

The leather covering the top of dash under windshield has come loose, dislodging the defroster vent and blocking airflow from the defroster. Defroster vent cannot be reseated because of mis-shaped leather. While driving during early morning, condensation on windshield could not be cleared by defroster because no airflow was reaching the windshield on the drivers side. Had to pull off the road and pull the leather away from the vent opening to allow windshield to clear. If I had been driving in traffic, this would be extremely dangerous. I have called Jeep customer service, but they will not acknowledge a manufacturing defect, but cannot tell me why this has happened. They will not repair because the vehicle is out of warranty. The leather started coming loose 2 months after the warranty expired. There are numerous cases of this same problem in online Jeep forums. I took the vehicle to a local vinyl shop, but they could not fix without removing the windshield; windshield cannot be removed without breaking it. New windshield for overland model with rain sensor is over $1,000. Winter is approaching, but I will not be able to clear the windshield of ice and snow because of this problem.

10 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2016

I took my 2011 Grand Cherokee to the dealer for the normal maintenance. However, there were a couple of recalls so I asked them to take care of them. Recalls were related to the fuel pump relay and to the sun visor (which apparently can short-circuit and cause a fire). There was a firmware update for the tipm also so I got that done too. 3 weeks later, I get on my car, I put the ignition to on and the wipers went on, I tried to turn them off and I couldn't. This is a list of all the symptoms: - turn signals not working - rear wiper not working - front wipers on - traction control off and no way to turn it back on - buttons on the steering wheel not working, none of them, except for the ones that control the radio - heated steering wheel, tow/haul, traction control and 110v plug switches not responding - interior lights not working - headlights worked but no way to control high or low beams I did some research online, found that some other people were having the same issue and some of them said that they had the issue resolved by leaving the battery unplugged overnight, it didnt work. I took the wipers out (since I couldn't turn them off) and took my car to the dealer (without turn signals). They've had the car for 2 days already, yesterday they called me back and told me they were still trying to determinate the issue but that it could be a defective tipm. I have no idea of how much this is going to cost to get fixed but the truth is, I got this car 2 months ago, looked perfectly fine, very well maintained and now I will probably have to put more money out of my pocket to get this thing resolved. Reading on the forums I have also become aware of the big safety issues that a faulty tipm may cause, read of people's cars stalling in the middle of traffic! I am really concerned now about my safety and I wish I didn't buy this car.

11 Wiper problem

The VIN and failure mileage were unknown.

12 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2015

The oversized sideview mirrors, absolutely block the view of approaching or stopped vehicles, at an intersection, causing driver and passenger to have to move heads to see around them , which in most cases does not help to view the approaching or stopped traffic at an intersection. We have only had this vehicle under 2 months and have had 3 near collisions , from the very large mirrors, that are factory installed on this model Jeep. The mirrors are in the position on the side windows , that absolutely blocks the drivers view! it is very dangerous , and we are afraid we are going to be killed by getting hit from a vehicle that is hiding in the view we should have of the approaching traffic! we want Jeep to replace or move the mirrors to a safer location for safetys sake, before we are killed. Please check these out yourself. On the Grand Cherokee limited model 2011.

There were smoke inhalation injuries sustained that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

15 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2014

We received 3 recall notices related to the brake booster, the totally integrated power module, and a short in the visor lamp. We called our local dealership and each time we called, they told us they did not have the parts and they would call when they did receive them. They still have not called and the first recall notice was issued more than 6 months ago.

16 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the push button start was not funtioning properly and the failure progressed to the point that the vehicle stalled several times and also would not start. The contact had to tow the vehicle several times due to the intermittent failure. The fuel pump sensor and the service engine sensor illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who replaced the fuel pump and the failure recurred. The dealer also reset the sensors more than twice and they still illuminated. The dealer suggested an interim fix of filling the fuel half way. The contact was included in NHTSA campaign id number: 14v530000 (fuel propulsion system) however the part and the remedy was not available to repair the vehicle. The contact was also waiting for two other recalls to be performed and the parts were not available for NHTSA campaign id number: 14v39100 (visibility) and 14v154000 (brakes). The contact was waiting for an appointment to remedy all three recall repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

17 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2014

The air conditioning produces cold air on the driver's side but produces hot air on the passenger side. The heater bend doors are broken. This is a common problem with Jeeps. My vehicle is 38 months ond, 2 moths out of warranty with 30,120 miles. Jeep refuses to repair the problem under warranty, and even denies that bend door failures are a common problem with Jeeps, even though the internet is filled with complaints about the problem.

18 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2012

Jeep's climate control is not allowing permanent engagement of recirculation option which leads to allergens and pollutions from outside get inside of the vehicle without driver realizing it. Few times I was, literally, inches away from rear ending vehicles in front of me. When I'm going 60-65 mph on a highway and climate control opens intake for outside air, with my eyes becoming watery from allergy, I had to find that recirculation button to reengage it. It happens exactly every 5 minutes. When I brought vehicle to Jeep's dealer they told me that it's the way system built and there can be two ways to eliminated the hazard: complete shut down of intake or climate control program update. I called Jeep's help line and explained the problem to their representative providing suggestions stated above. After that I was given 'great' explanation: climate control acts this way because it was done by design !? based on that they refused to do anything to fix it. I have two other vehicles (Honda and Suzuki) and those cars don't have problem like Jeep has. This shows that all Jeep needs to do is issue software patch for their climate control program to take care of this issue.
