Clockspring malfunction causing horn, cruise control, and air bag not functioning.
We were about an hour away from home (in the mountains) and our Jeep had been running fine. We had stopped for a while and when we got back to our Jeep and started it, just about every warning light on the dash board came on and wouldn’t go off (the brake light, check engine, airbag, abs, etc. ) the middle of the dash was also flashing different messages…”service park assist and service power steering”. We started to drive and the car was jerking really hard while it was shifting gears. We think it was getting stuck in a high gear because it would hardly drive after we stopped at a stoplights. We turned our hazards on and just tried to make it to an auto parts shop. Our windshield wipers were automatically coming on and the speedometer and rpm needle were both going up and down really quickly. We spent just shy of two long months without our Jeep while it was in the shop. The mechanic ultimately replaced the clock spring and the tpim. Meanwhile, I joined a Jeep Grand Cherokee facebook group and it seems like this is a pretty common issue in Jeep Grand Cherokees. It was a costly repair and was very difficult for us to go without our second car for two months. I really feel like this issue needs to be addressed by Jeep.
I was driving and the battery light came on with a chime, within seconds the car smelled hot, the air conditioning went out, road hazard lights on dash indicating flat tire came on, windshield wipers were going on and off at different speeds and windows were opening and closing and then did not work at all. I got the car into the driveway as I was en route to our home. As I got car to the driveway I lost all power. I had the same thing happen in 2019 - report # 11255268. I do not know where to go to get the vehicle repaired or it the old recall will apply to this problem once again. Should I have the car towed to a dealer? I have my own private mechanic that addressed the problem in 2019. Please contact me ASAP. I don't know what the plan of action should be. Can I bring it to my own mechanic or does it need to go to a dealer. Please call or send me an e mail as soon as possible as I am without a vehicle. My number is 847-867-3921 or e mail me at kemahgal@aol. Com. Or sherlumpkins@gmail. Com. Or use both e mails. Thank you!.

There's a eecall for the fuel pump, that may cause my Jeep to stop all of a sudden when driving it. The recall has yet to have an answer as to when it will get fixed. I don't want my car to stall as um driving and cause an accident, the safety of my children is at risk. Need this to be fixed ASAP.
This is my third time experiencing this system failure. Each time while driving and the vehicle in motion, the truck shuts off. Each time this has almost caused an accident as I was turning onto a street. The first time it shut off in the middle of driving was as I easy slowing down to stop at a red light and lost all controls as the vehicle died. I did not accidentally touch anything. This is extremely dangerous and something needs to be done bout it ASAP. It turns off unwarranted while driving. I have to put the vehicle in park and press the start button to turn the vehicle back on. I do not know what part is causing this problem. It happens out of nowhere occasionally and not everyday either.
My Grand Cherokee has stalled several dozen times over the past few years and the dealer can't fix it. The car stalls when slowing to a stop or turning through an intersection but we can't duplicate the problem at the service center. The dealer kept the car for nearly a month trying to duplicate the problem but could not, but I have kept records over the past year of all stalls and the conditions and the only condition that remains constant is that I am quickly braking from 40 mph or faster or I am braking while turning. Initially it only occurred while turning left, but now it occurs while turning right and while braking quickly while going straight. I have been in several near misses due to losing power steering and brakes and I am to the point to where I can't allow anyone but me to drive the car due to the safety factor. Twice I almost hit a car while turning and once a big rig almost hit me in the side as the car stalled mid-intersection of a six lane highway. The car is still under Chrysler's warranty, and as noted, the dealer has tried to fix the problem, but has failed time after time. The problem has occurred dozens of times but the latest time was today, at which point I decided to submit this complaint. Although I can't duplicate the problem on demand, there are 3locations where it most often occurs, and it most often occurs in the morning. The first location is about 2. 5 miles from my house, and the other two are 5 miles each from my house. Two of the three locations are at intersections with red lights, while the third is simply the location of where I work where it has stalled multiple times while just turning into the driveway. It also has stalled several times while coming home or just driving around or on vacation. Dealer has replaced fuel pump relay, wiring, and some emission control parts.
I was pulling into a parking spot and transitioning the vehicle to park when the vehicle accelerated. I had my foot pressed firmly on the brake but it did not stop and it went up and over a parking barrier into another parked vehicle.

The contact stated that jacksonville Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and ram located at (11101 nurseryfields dr, jacksonville, FL 32256), exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect. The failure mileage was 125,000.
Car began to sputter and rise in rpms and missing gear going into nuetral and causing dangerous situations in traffic runs at 2 rpms in ideal standpoint now car is leaking fluids and service 4wheel drive lights on I read that there are recalls for this issue in other keeps but not for my VIN number and this is a manufacturer problem.

Vehicle randomly shuts off while driving. No indications of problem as far as warnings. Loses all engine power, power steering, power brakes. Happens when slowing. Once shifted to neutral or park, it will restart without issue. Intermittent dangerous problem. No faults active, no diagnosis to be found. Vehicle is up to date on recalls as far as we can tell. Concerns for safety are present. Vehicle currently has 128929 miles, but this has happened 3-4 times a year randomly since we purchased it at 33k in 2014.
Car lost all power for steering and braking. Car stalled. Was at low speed 5-8mph turning to the right into a gas station driveway from busy roadway of speeds of 55mph. Car went straight and rolled to a stop. Grateful was parking lot and ditch in front of me and not the gas pumps or another vehicle as I had no control of the car stopping. I have twice had car to dealer for car going into limp mode. Both in year 2016. Same cylanoid each time.
Vehicle stalls when applying brakes while decelerating. All power is lost and very difficult to steer or brake. The vehicle will restart when put back into park after drifting to a stop. This is a random problem that occurs 1-2 times every couple of weeks on average. The problem has been reported to Jeep and has been at the dealer several times but they cannot reproduce the problem and there are no engine codes being generated. This is a very dangerous hazard and I have simply been lucky I have not been in a serious accident yet as a result.
L-the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving a 35 mph, the power steering and the accelerated pedal failed. The lights on the instrument panel illuminated. The failure mileage was 36,900. Aw.
There is/has been continued issue with the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee not starting and/or ignition getting stuck in starting mode. When the ignition is evidently started after several attemtps the speed control excells to maxed rate including rpm rate while in parked state or driving and upon breaking it did not stop the increased speed until 1 minute or more later (very scrary).

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000. Mc.
Letter from congressman barber on behalf of constituent regarding a mechanical malfunction with his 2012 Grand Cherokee overland; attn: taj sultan. The consumer stated on occasion, he would brake and accelerate simultaneously to avoid rolling backwards. He soon discovered, while doing so, with the Jeep, it would creep a few feet into the intersection, and there would be no acceleration for about five seconds.
My 2012 Jeep grend cherokee laredo has stalled when turning on and has often not turned on. When driving the vehicle the car has shut off almost causing an accident. This has happened on many occasions. The car accelerates often when driving the lights, airbag symbols, etc turn on erratic. I had to replace the alternator and battery due to faulty timp which Jeep has recalls on however not my year although-my car has the same problems which I have to pay for and I have researched and many other Jeep owners have the same issues and Jeep is very aware and are not taking responsibility, I feel unsafe driving this car especially with my children, the car is unreliable and have been late to work due to the car stalls and lack og turning on. This car has a mind of its own starts when it feels like it, speeds up on its own, lights turn on off, tells u keys left the car when it hasnt. Very angry at Jeep I should not have to pay for faulty equipment due to your negligence!.
I was driving my Jeep from a stop sign and it all of a sudden slowed down and would not accelerate. The engine light comes on and forces me to pull over, restart it and it runs fine after that. Well, it's happened 3 times after this and I have arranged a 7am service for it on Monday. The book says check the gas cap or it may be bad gas, but I burned the gas down to 15 miles left and filled it with super unleaded. No matter what I do, like shift into n, rev the engine, nothing works until I pull over and restart it.
Distracting and hard to see speedometer needle in daylight. Have to take eyes off the road while trying to determine current speed, very dangerous.
Cold started vehicle. Waited for fast idle to subside (cool weather). Placed in drive and slowly accelerated into garage, appr 30 feet. Braked vehicle to full stop. Vehicle seemed to be under some level of power, more than idle speed with no acceleration by driver. Began to shift out of drive and once the shift lever was in the neutral slot, the engine rpms increased to about 4000 rpm. Engine was shut down in neutral to avoid shifting into park at high rpm. Second occurrence on 15nov2012, same situation. Contacted local dealer (bb - Chrysler Jeep) (16nov2012 0931), spoke with pm - service consultant who stated that there were no recalls or service bulletins on this vehicle for acceleration type problems. He recommended to bring in for inspection if it happens again.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to stop, the vehicle violently accelerated and excessive force was required on the brake pedal. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,525. Djr.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle surged forward abnormally when first started. The failure would also occur while the vehicle was engaged in park. The contact stated that the anti-lock braking system and the four wheel drive warning lights illuminated when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times and the manufacturer sent several engineers to further inspect the failure. The manufacturer was not able to determine what caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40 and the current mileage was 2,000.
I was going approximately 20-25 approaching a signal light. I let off the gas and applied the brake as the light was red. As I let off the gas, the engine began to rev higher and as I applied the brake I had to apply it harder and harder as the engine continued to rev even higher. I began to smell the brakes burning as they tried to hold the car back. Fortunately I had the foresight to put the car in neutral. It continued to rev for about 5 seconds and then went down to normal. It has happened once. No warning lights went on. The dealer said that they contacted the detroit technical bureau and they suggested that maybe it was the floor mat, or my foot, etc, etc but claimed they had no other reports of this occurring. I don't have carpets as I opted for the rubber mats and they sit tight to the floor. And my foot was not stuck on the gas. I was conscious of the fact that my foot was on the brake and not the gas as I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on. They said they drove it and did computer checks and had no explanation. The service rep said the response from the technical bureau would be "insulting to me". The dealer was bradshaw Jeep in watertown, CT and the service rep was victor. I wrote this out on the service order and kept a copy.
