1 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2025

Windshield wipes are malfunctioning. They come on and function by themselves without the windshield wipers being activated. Purchased the car on 5/26/2025 and issue started on 6/1/25. Took the car to the dealership on 6/2/25 to check the problem out. They couldn’t mimic the problem. Car has been back and forth to the dealership 3x since 6/2/25 trying to figure out what the issue is.

2 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2024

I had a recall on the dash of my Jeep due to the leather wrinkling. I had very slight wrinkling, so I honored the recall and took it to the dealership. They replaced the leather which seemed to fix the problem, well wrong, they put the leather down with no adhesive to keep it in place. Long story short, it began having some puckering in the middle, now the whole dash looks like a wrinkled bed sheet and its totally lifted along the bottom of the windshield, which has caused my defrost vent to lift out of place and resricts airflow. This resricts my visibility when the defrost cannot blow accurately. I took it back to the dealership to show them, and to tell them that it's worse than before I brought it to them, and if I had've known this would happen, I would have left it alone! I showed them that they obviously didn't put adhesive under the leather, the just laid and tucked it! they said they couldn't repair it. I took it to get it assessed and as soon as he saw it, he said "this was obviously installed wrong!".

3 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2022

The dashboard of the vehicle has delaminated, with the leather covering bubbling and warping. The uneven surface causes significant glare at certain sun angles to be reflected into the eyes of the driver. The dealership has inspected the vehicle and noted that Jeep had briefly extended the warrenty on the component due to known issues, but refuses to honor a repair or replacement outside of that warrenty period. The vehicle was purchased in this condition so it is unclear when the damage occurred.

4 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2022

I noticed things like the cluster going completely black at random and it would last for seconds before re-illuminating; it happens while driving. I took in my vehicle to the dealership on June 28, 2022, two days prior, I noticed that my doors were unlocking while I was inside my workplace, the alarm was going off another day and I noticed shifting issues with the transmission. On June 27, 2022 I was forced to buy a brand new battery because the Jeep was running in power saving mode, instead of taking a risk with a low battery, I bought a new one and thought everything was good, but it continued to run in power saving mode; I received two cel codes, both correlating to the transmission control module (tcm). Later that evening my son informed me that the cluster light was still on, the Jeep had been parked for several hours so there was no reason for the light to still be on (wake mode?). Also, I notated the codes I received before I had to have the Jeep towed to the dealership on Jun 28th to compare to what the service dept came up with; however on Jun 28th I attempted to jump the battery to take it to the service center but it wouldn’t jump or charge; what happened was, just before the cluster went haywire, the wipers were moving across the windshield while it was in an off position, the uconnect was glitching out then went black, cluster warned to service the electronic abs and the shifter, the fuse box was vibrating and shuddering very loudly, a hissing noise was coming from the back of the vehicle (could be the fuel pump? like compressed air) so by Monday morning, the 27th the battery had completely died and by the time it got to the dealership on tues, I had to use the battery warranty to replace the battery so that the service department could then diagnose the Jeep. Fine, the battery was replaced Jun 30th with a brand new one, but by fri Jun 8th I was told I need another brand new battery. All the issues had had a prior recall and seem to be reoccurring.

5 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

Over the course of several years' use, the oem hid headlights lenses have been burnt by the oem headlights which has incrementally diminished the headlight effectiveness. There is a frost like haze that has been burnt into the interior of the lens. This should be covered by the manufacturer given that the headlight cover lenses used on the headlight assembly were not adequate. I have experienced this diminishing visibility over the last several years, but it has reached a point now that it is a safety concern while driving at night.

Fca uconnect sending forced updates to certain vehicles with uconnect systems onboard (satellite signal sent directly to vehicle). A known issue by fca, is that the forced update fails during the update rendering certain features useless. In my encounter the system update failed and most electronic systems were not functional such as defroster, control of the power seats, the vehicles lighting systems among other systems. This is dangerous and fca is aware of this failure yet they have failed to notify consumers of such failure and how it could adversely effect their control and access to function of the motor vehicle while in operation.

10 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

The "service gear shift" warning has appeared while the car is in motion (6 times) and while parked (1time) and the transmission feels like it is starting to slip and will gear down while driving. The next thing that occurs is the wipers will start on their own and can not be turned off. After the wipers are triggered then the next message will say "until you reach a desired location you may not be able to shift again until serviced". Next another random message will appear and then the screen will go blank. This includes all digital functions of the dash. Such as speedometer, fuel gauge, tachometer, etc. Service engine warning lights are the only thing that will appear. The last time this happened on Aug. 2, 2019 the car would not allow me to shift into park or turn the car off. I had to put on the emergency brake and get under the hood where the fuse panel is located and pull the ignition fuse to disable the car. We have officially been to byers Chrysler llc. 7 times and have an ongoing communication case with a corporate Jeep care associate. We have mutiple videos that can be seen of the actions of the car. Three times the car has been returned to us with nothing done except clearing the error codes it generates while this occurs. It is unsafe to drive and is now at the point where it will not safely park and turn off. The image I am including states the the car should be shut off to engage park but it will not allow me to this. I have to pull the fuse while the car is still in gear and running with the parking brake on. This is as unsafe as it can get and there is no clue why this is happening. We have currently spent $1600 to fix the problem and have had no remedy.

11 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2019

My cars windshield wipers suddenly turned on and would not turn off. Even after turning the car off and turning it back on they would still not turn off. I took it into the dealership I bought it from and they told me that the switch and motor would need to be replaced. I know this has been an issue with several other owners of this vehicle as I have researched it extensively. There have been several electrical problems with the car and I believe this is another issue.

The driver's side mirror and windshield column create an 18 inch blind spot. And, the mirror is so tall it is almost impossible for a 5'6" driver to see over it. There is no seat height adjustment. The blind spot makes it very unsafe to make left turns. I have had a few close calls and last week it caused a minor fender bender. I was turning left on a residential street in pagosa springs, CO. Because of the blind spot, I did not see the car coming up to a stop sign. The Jeep Grand Cherokee mirror design is dangerous.

28 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

I see double light sources out my front windshield. This occurs both in the daytime and intensifies at night. This effect is called ghosting and originally I thought my eyesight was going bad so I went to an eye specialist where they said my vision is near perfect. This double light effect goes away in other vehicles such as the wrangler, most likely has something to do with the windshield thickness and angle. This double light is extremely distracting at night and dangerous, also this creates headaches and driver fatigue due to trying to always focus on objects. Jeep customer care said that my windshield is out of its 1 year warranty period, however I've had this issue for awhile now, even most likely within the 1 year period. To test if a windshield replacement would fix the ghosting issue, I sat in a brand new 2016 Grand Cherokee on a dealer lot and it has the exact same ghosting issue. The ghosting problem is a safety concern and should be investigated, or at least driven to have some mitigation to protect the safety of drivers/passengers. Technologies exist that can eliminate the ghosting effects and also changing the glass thickness/material can eliminate this issue. Jeep customer care has not expressed interest in having Chrysler assess the problem or even look into it. Chrysler customer care said engineers do not make service visits to dealerships to investigate issues.
