1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2025

This is in reference to recall #z46/NHTSA 22v-406 on June 11 2025 I had my Jeep at the dealer for an unrelated problem. The next day when the dealer called me to let me now that my Jeep was ready they mentioned they preformed the high pressure fuel pump recall. I figured no big deal, no additional trip to dealer for the recall. After getting my vehicle home I looked in to what exactly was done as part of the recall. I also found the instructions for the work to be done and the parts to be replaced as part of this recall. The dealer only preformed part of the recall, they replaced the pump the filters and left the label pack in an envelope in the vehicle. When I called them the next day to ask why the additional parts were not installed they said that they do do that part of the recall for no contaminated vehicles. In the instructions for the recall it states numerous times that the high pressure fuel lines are one time use and to discard and replace the lines. In their own service instructions for high pressure fuel lines or whenever the lines need to be removed for a repair the fuel lines are to be replaced. I have had to pay for fuel lines in the past on a repair that required removal. So my question is are dealers required to replace one time use parts only when the customer is paying? same for the egr tube and gasket. This recall was serious enough to cause a nation wide stop sale order on all dealer stock. The dealer that did this work is west valley Chrysler Jeep Dodge 4174 west 3500 south west valley city ut 84120 (801) 955-0872 any help with this would be appreciated.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

The hpfp (high pressure fuel pump) on this vehicle fails causing a fuel lapse and loss of power. I have taken it to two different dealers and they say the hpfp is on recall but not available. The vehicle was available for inspection but neither dealer performed this. When the hpfp fails the engine light comes on and the electronic throttle control light comes on. This started in September of 2023 and has repeated several times. The recall for the hpfp has been announced for quite awhile but nothing has been done about it.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2023

While returning home from vacation, the high pressure fuel pump on my vehicle failed. This happened while in heavy traffic traveling 70mph on I-95. This incident left myself, my husband, and my four month old infant at the time stranded on the I-95 shoulder in 90 degree heat for three hours. My husband was barely able to maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder after all power was lost and the car was billowing smoke. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. The dealer inspected and replaced the high pressure fuel pump and other fuel system components four months later but failed to inspect other engine components for damage related to the high pressure fuel pump failing. Because of the lack of thorough inspection, when the service person at the dealer started the engine again, the engine completely failed. The dealer and Jeep are refusing to honor the recall and repair my engine due to a recalled item failing. Prior to the high pressure fuel pump imploding and ripping shrapnel through the entire fuel system and engine, a yellow check engine light came on. While trying to find a safe place to pull over while traveling 70mph in heavy traffic on I-95, diesel began pouring out of the bottom of the vehicle, smoke started billowing out of the engine, a handful of warning lights flashed across the screen, and all power was lost to the car. This happened in less than approximately 5mins/10miles from the yellow check engine light initially appearing. Prior to this incident, there were no sounds or warning signs that there was something internally wrong with the engine.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2023

As part of the Jeep recall z46 my vehicle is currently dead and sitting at the dealership. Dealership quoted over $15k to replace the entire fuel system. They said I can pay out of pocket to replace the entire fuel system however to claim under the recall they don’t have a remedy nor any new parts to replace the failed component along with replacing the rest of the fuel system from the metal contamination. Service advisor provided a corporate Chrysler contact number to escalate to a Chrysler case manager. After creating the case order I was told the case manager would be contacting me within 24 hours. So far it’s been about 5 days and attempting to call I get sent to a voicemail box that’s full.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2023

Car does not accelerate on a hill readily. Difficult to get it to move as necessary at times.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2023

I had a warning code of service electronic throttle. It then started to regenerate and we took it to lithia Jeep to fix egr recall. They needed to replace engine intake because it caught fire. Several months later the car broke down while driving, sputtering, knocking, squealing. Upon inspection, metal flakes found in oil. Suspected hpfp sucked into engine causing havoc. The hpfp is an open recall but no available replacement parts. I'm currently out of a vehicle. I've contacted Jeep but haven't heard a reply.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2023

My issue is with the manufacture recall #z46, NHTSA recall # 22v-406. This recall has been open since Jun 9, 2022 and involves the fuel pump (hpfp) failure. I have taken the vehicle to my local dealer and they advised there still is no remedy available to correct this recall. The vehicle I purchased used, had several open service tickets related to emissions which have been corrected and covered but this safety recall seems to be ignored by the manufacturer and could in fact cause a accident if it fails. The recall covers more than my vehicle and for the sake of my family and I would like it repaired before something happens. I feel the manufacturer has let this issue drop in hopes it will go away. I would like the NHTSA to follow-up on this recall and require them to fix the issue. Thank you.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2023

I have had major problems with my vehicle relating to recalls. Last month had had $2,800. 00 in repairs done to the vehicle related to two recalls (z46 & w79) I had to have all of my fuel lines and fuel filters replaced and the air intake manifold replaced and currently the vehicle is not running as I lost power entering the highway my mechanice diagnosed it as code p0336-00 crankshaft position sensor performance which is covered under recall w58/68 to date Jeep has denied that any of this work is related to recalls and denied my reimbursement request I appreciate your help in resolving these issues as I currently do not have transportation at my disposal even thought recall w58/68 states that transportation to be provided if needed I can supply you with receipts and emails from fca Jeep denying my claims thanking you in advance for your help in this matter.

17 Other Fuel System problem

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2023

The past 3 times putting gas in 1) after gassing, Jeep started, would not go into gear. Shut off, restarted, was fine. 2) after gassing, Jeep started however shaking, shut off, restarted, however shook until it caught and started. 3) after gassing, the 3rd time it started. The Jeep would shake, like the old cars would diesel when shut off, this is what it was like. Shows multiple codes. Purge valve under hood replaced in November, replacing again to see if its bad. Rear purge valve replaced (driver rear wheel). Next step is smoking the vehicle to find the leaks, believe to be the gas filler neck. Often when putting gas in, gas clicks off. Also the capless tank is awful, often difficult to put the hose in. This is my 3rd jgc, the 07 had issues and this one. The 2011 was a dream! these are manufacturer's issues and should be repaired free of charge!.

Failure Date: 06/13/2022

Jeep has no fix for this recall it’s been 15 months.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2022

I received a recall notice from Chrysler (recall #z46) on June 9, 2022. The NHTSA recall number is #22v-406. I also recently received another recall from Chrysler (recall #66a). The NHTSA recall number for this recall is #23v-411. Both recalls indicate that failure of the defective part that has been recalled can result in the unexpected loss of power and a resulting crash without warning. Any resulting crash without warning presents a huge safety concern as it quite possibly could result in injury or death. To date I'm told the part for recall # z46 is not available and the dealer will not repair recall #66a until recall #z46 has been remedied. In light of the potential for injury or death resulting from the failure of the necessary repairs request that the NHTSA become proactive in forcing the manufacturer to remedy the problem(s) noted above ASAP.

23 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2022

22v-406 recall issued June 9 2022. We’ve tried to have fixed but parts unavailable. At what point is this untimely? it has been over a year which seems untimely to me. The safety issue indicates high pressure fuel pump ("hpfp") that could fail prematurely. A hpfp failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation. Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

Fca has had an open recall (z46/NHTSA 22v-406) for over 14 months. They are unable to provide necessary parts and as such potentially unsafe vehicles must be driven by owner and these vehicles are unable to be traded/sold due to open safety recall. Fcs recall assistance and Chrysler group customer care for Jeep have been contacted with no resolution and no anticipated date for resolution.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2022

We have been unable to drive the vehicle for 9 months out of 12 due to it being in the shop. The latest was a obdc of "improper def used see dealership". It was at 3 different shops to remedy the issue the final one being lithia Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge of missoula #134. Even with the extended warranty they would not cover the expense even though it was their warranty. We were told it was for labor, but labor was supposed to be covered. There is also a "stop sale" in place so we cannot even drive the vehicle anymore due to lack of power. The dealership and fca told us that this was "normal" and we just "had to let the vehicle warm up first" I have owned and operated diesel vehicles for a better part of 28 years. I have never had to do this. I cannot put my families lives at risk with this pos. Right now as it is, we are. Making payments on insurance and and vehicle payments on an SUV we cannot drive. I can give specific dates, times and conversations as well as email threads from fca trying to handle the situation to no avail.

26 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2021

Driving my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, in oct 2021 and this weekend, slipped into neutral while driving on the highway at 50+ mph and wouldnt shift back into drive. Displaying the message 'vehicle speed is too high to shift' while at full stop stop sign both times trying to restart it, the engine would rev violently and shut off, only to restart after a few minutes and drive as normal. Both times in high moving traffic, narrowly avoiding traffic. The 2nd time I was on the NY triboro bridge and used road flares to alert traffic called the dealer and they claimed to have never heard of this before. Couldnt find any issues or replicate the issue. Attached are several issues of other drivers having the same issue and still @jeepc laims no knowledge. Does someone have to die to fix this issue.

27 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2021

Both catalytic converters failed a while ago. Now spark plugs are going bad faster.

28 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2021

The part that failed is identified as the oil cooler, I will request the dealer provide the defective unit. The part number for the oil cooler 68211323ab. There are two areas that would pose a safety concern when the oil cooler fails. When the oil cooler fails, oil is let into the cooling system. The oil level continues to fall to a point where it is very likely the engine will seize. There is no check engine indicator, the oil temperature indicator shows no rise in temperature. You would not know that there is any problem, if that happens while the vehicle is in motion it could prove to put occupants in jeopardy of injury. The second area of concern, as the oil bleeds into the cooling system it is unable to adjust for the additional fluid. The cooling system reservoir fills up and begins to overflow each time the vehicle is started and driven. The reservoir overflow is in the front right side of the engine compartment. When car is parked the oil flows on to everything that is below it. But when the car is in motion the oil covers the right side of the engine compartment. The result of the overflow could lead to a fire in the engine compartment, oil on the rotor and brake could result in the malfunction of the brake mechanism. With oil in the cooling system the smell of diesel is very strong in the passage compartment. This may, lead to headaches, nausea, and eye irritation. The dealer did confirm the problem and provided a quote of $8600 to repair. The car has been inspected by and independent mechanic and the dealer’s mechanic. As noted earlier there was no warning that a problem was occurring. The first sign of a problem was on the 17th of September. A large oil spill in my garage.

29 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2021

31 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2021

I have been having trouble putting fuel in my car since I bought it. I was told that this was just a problem with Jeep Grand Cherokee xj. Because it is difficult to fuel up, twice I have sprayed fuel all over myself and once I had the rents myself with water. My warning light is a now on . Now the capless fuel cap assembly came off while I was feeling. This is very dangerous. I don't know if I can feel up anymore making the car useless until repaired.

32 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2021

This 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee ecodiesel has an open recall for the egr system (recall w79). On December 29, 2020, the malfunction indicator light came on. I called the dealer (turnersville Jeep) for an appointment on Monday, January 4, 2021. The first available appointment was on Tuesday, January 12 2021. This dealer kept the vehicle until Friday, January 15. This dealer declined to repair the egr system under the w79 recall, but did replace all fuel injectors and the fuel tubes after finding the fuel injectors restricted. This dealer then cleared the dtc p026c-00 and performed a stationary regeneration. I picked the vehicle up at 5:15 pm on Friday, January 15, 2021 and proceeded to road test the vehicle. After about 75 miles of driving, I suffered a exteme and sudden loss of power at approximately 7:30 pm; the dash indicators included the malfunction indicator lamp, an error regarding the throttle body, and an error that the oil pressure was low. As I coasted to a stop, smoke began to rapidly pour from the hood cover and began to enter the cabin through the hvac vents. I vacated the vehicle immediately and under some duress. The smoke continued to billow from the engine area of the vehicle and I could see it continue to enter the cabin. At approximately 9:00 pm on January 15, the vehicle was delivered by flatbed to pellegrino Jeep. I spoke with the pellegrino Jeep service department on Saturday, January 16, 2021, but they were unable to provide a commitment to examine the vehicle. I opened case #78239258 with fca (Jeep) us llc customer service. As of January 20 at 11:30 am, I do not have feedback on this case. The dealer has also provided no commitment to examine the vehicle. I believe this vehicle suffered a failure due to the inability of fca and it's dealers to remediate recall w79.

33 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

Received a recall 1 month go but the dealer cannot repair-no parts!! recall w58 "a loss of motive power can result in a vehicle crash without prior warning" now I am frightened to drive to work but no way to get it repaired???.

34 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2020

I got a service engine soon light. When I took it to the dealer they said it was purge valve on the evaporator system. I encounter the same problem on my 2014 Dodge durango at the same mileage. I think Chrysler has a systemic problem with this part of their emission system.

35 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2020

This vehicle is undriveable and is currently at the dealership. They've informed us that the problem is related to a recall w58, however there is currently no fix available. How do we proceed when the Jeep/Chrysler is unwilling or unable to correct the problem?.
