Car accelerated without warning propelling me across a curb, street, then a second curb. The SUV was stopped upon impact at a concrete building. Fortunately there was no injury to others but the accident caused the car to be totalled by my insurance company. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The airbags did not deploy upon impact,.
Cruise control, O2 sensor, fuel/propulsion system , battery, if your check engine light is not on when you take it to the service department they say its hard to detect serves needs. Come back when it comes on again. Trouble while driving when using cruise congtrol it excellerate15miles beyond speed set very scary while driving next 30 minutes smell smoke next flames and smoke coming from underneath hood, open door flames and smoke can into Jeep. Causing me to hit my head tryng to watch the fire and get out the truck and getting the two kids out the back the we ran then the exploded. The 911 button inside did not work! now we can't sleep!.
When setting cruise control to speed limit then pressing brake and then resume the Jeep sone times accelerates to a higher speed the. Having to break again. Has been reoccurring nervous when driving and setting cruise or resuming. Have not taken it in as of yet.
While in starbucks drive through, my vehicle suddenly accelerated and hit the vehicle in front of me.
It was freezing outside, but not icy on the road. Well lit. I was not in a rush. Car was in excellent shape up until then. I was going ~10 pmh down the inside parking garage driveway. Had to pull to the right due to car coming up partially on my side. Scratched the side wall. Once that happened, the car accelerated out of control. Brakes didn't react. Only way to stop the car before running into other cars or even people was steering the car into the wall front on. The car finally stopped, the wall broke down. The airbags didn't go off, the brake assistance system didn't kick in. Fortunately nobody was hurt, but could have easily happened. The car is a total loss. I was not under the influence of drugs and don't have a seizure disorder. Witnessed every single second fully awake and aware.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, when she noticed the instrument screen showed she was driving under neutral. I was easing our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee into a parking spot at a trail head parking lot with my foot on the brake pedal. I fully engaged the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, and the vehicle accelerated at full throttle over the top of a 2. 5 ft by 2. 5 ft cement block parking barrier. It dragged the cement block about 20-25 ft. I continued to press the brake and after about 40 ft, the vehicle came to a stop. I immediately turned the vehicle off. It was terrifying not to be in control of the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured. Damage to the vehicle is yet to be determined, but even if it is repaired, there is no way I would feel comfortable driving it again. This vehicle should be totaled and not resold to anyone else. I have been a loyal Jeep owner for over 20 years, but I am not sure I would purchase another one, especially now that I have researched the issue and realize that this is a rare but reoccurring problem with the Jeep Grand Cherokee for 20+ years.
Driving the vehicle speed over 60 miles it shakes and it trembles, and the sensor driving beers out of control.
Previously entered complaint regarding cold throttle/turbo lag of 3-5 seconds which is dangerous for pulling into traffic and almost causing accidents but this is not limited to cold vehicles. The lag is shorter but evident when warm. I have had several incidents of hitting the lag while trying to turn in an intersection and there is a "flat spot" lag of 2 -3 seconds. Pressing the gas pedal in stop and go traffic can cause a lag then surge forward. I have almost hit the car in front of me several times and had difficulty switching lanes because I get the nose of the vehicle turned into another lane then it does not move causing near collusions then surges forward. This is extremely dangerous and I am beginning to be frightened of driving this vehicle for even the shortest of times.
While traveling approximately 70 miles per hour (on a highway), on two occasions working 24 hours, the vehicle shifted from drive into neutral with no manipulation of the shifter. There was no warning of the impending loss of mechanical power to the drive wheels, and I was forced to coast to the shoulder of the road. No other systems (brakes or power steering as well as other electrical systems appeared to be affected. Once on the shoulder and completely stopped, I attempted to shift the vehicle back into drive, but was prompted shift not allowed - vehicle speed too high despite the fact that the speedometer read 0 mph. Next, I pushed the start/stop button and the vehicle did not power down, but did allow me to shift into drive. The error has not replicated more than once per start up sequence (if it happens once while driving, pull over and restart, the error seems to not recur for the duration the vehicle is in motion for the rest of the trip). Oil pressure and temperature as well as transmission temperature were reported as within normal operating ranges. I checked the vehicles oil level which was within the safe zone on the dipstick. The vehicle had over 1/2 a tank of gas. This issue is new to the unit, with over 16 months of operating the vehicle it has only occurred within the past 24 hours. The issue is not preceded by any notification, and no mil's were activated either before or after the failure to shift. It is worth noting the key fob is low on battery, but the issue occurs solely in motion. I will be visiting the dealer prior for troubleshooting prior to operating the vehicle again.
Out of nowhere, my 2015 Jeep gc decelerated, all the lights on the dash came on and the following messages popped auto park disabled, service electronic throttle control, and ended with service shifter. The truck would not accelerate in the middle of a highway. I took the vehicle to the dealer where they cannot seem to find the problem. The windshield wipers turned themselves on along with the check engine light and the hazards.
Takata recall- while driving at speeds above 35 miles, it feels as if the vehicle slows down as if the gears changed and it requires more pressure to be applied to the gas accelerator for the vehicle to go the same speed. This has happened multiple times at speeds of approximately 35 and over.
Received a service shifter message while going from park to drive on dash board display recently 3 times. I read online others have experienced this same issue.
The vehicle was being parked and from shifting from drive to reverse the vehicle turned off and would not start again for a few minutes. The vehicle showed the service keyless system and the check engine light then appeared.
Note: I entered an erroneous VIN number on my complaint a few minutes ago. My description of the problem was listed on that complaint.
When in motion, transmission downshifts to first gear. Engine races.
I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee that has been in for the rollaway recall. Tonight I pulled into a parking lot, got out of the car quickly to see how far I pulled in, and the car started rolling backwards. I thought the car was in park but in turn it was not. The car was in reverse. Previous to tonight I've had this happen and as soon as you let go of the brake, if the door is open, the "auto park" kicks in and the vehicle goes into park. That did not happen. I was able to catch the car before it went to far and get it in park. After that incident I took videos on the behavior. Repeatedly going from park, to reverse, or drive with the door open, taking my foot of the brake and every time it rolled and auto park did not apply. Turned the car off and on a few times and still, no auto park. The videos are to large to fit into the 5 mb limit but can be sent by any other means you have available or here is a link to them on onedrive. Https://1drv. Ms/f/s!airasnb8ajcyg1xqr6wwntqyirj8 I do not feel safe driving this car as the recall does not work. If a satisfactory fix cannot be made I would like to discuss what options are available to me. Thanks.
I was traveling up interstate 95 just passed exit 26 in connecticut. As I approached exit 27 a a vehicle in the exit only lane merged into the slow lane in front of me. I proceeded to then accelerate around the vehicle that had crossed in front of me and immediately as I accelerated the vehicle began to accelerate uncontrollably to an unsafe speed. I shifted the car into neutral and braked and steered appropriately. As my vehicle began to slow I then proceeded to shift the car back into drive hoping that the issue would be resolved. While my vehicle was a neutral I tapped the gas pedal in hopes of if it was jammed or stock it would come loose and I would be able to control the acceleration of the vehicle. Unfortunately the pedal did not come on stock as I proceeded to drive I realize that my speed was dropping to an unsafe rate while being on an interstate I proceeded to shift my car back into drive only to have the pedal that was still pressed to the floor accelerate the vehicle uncontrollably to again in unsafe speed. After I proceeded to stomp on the throttle in hopes of loosening it from whatever it was that was causing it to be stuck in the open position, the pedal finally returned to its on stock position with a loud bang. I don't proceeded to steer immediately off the highway at the next available exit and turn the vehicle off.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the speedometer read a higher speed than the actual speed of the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v529000 (power train) however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000. Part distribution disconnect.
The vehicle locked when I was stopped in traffic in the highway, rendering the vehicle disabled in traffic while in drive. I pressed on the gas pedal but did not move. I hit my emergency lights placed the car in park and then shifted back to drive but got no movement. I then turned off the vehicle and restarted the vehicle and was able to move off the highway and took the surface streets to get home. I saw on this "site" there is a recall for 2016 models which is recall s28.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When placing the vehicle in park, it rolled away without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
Vehicle often does not engage in gear. Eventually when it catches gear, the vehicle lunges considerably in gear forcing the car to jerk forward. It happens more often when going slow in traffic or going up and down hills. Very unstable in these situations. In one specific situation in traffic, car did not catch gear and then when it engaged, jerked forward into car in front of me.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. After switching to the park position and exiting with the engine running, the vehicle suddenly drove forward and struck a second vehicle. The contact sustained an injured right arm. Medical attention was not required. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. Also, while driving at various speeds, the collision avoidance system randomly activated and caused the braking system to abruptly stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 1,000.
I own a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. I was informed of the NHTSA research into the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the problems individuals were having with the collision warning system and the automatic breaking. I have experienced the same problem two times. There was no vehicle or obstacle close to me and the collision avoidance system initiated the autmoatic breaking system while driving down an interstate highway. It did not cause an accident, thankfully. After the second incident, I disabled the forward collision warning system due to my fear that it would happen again and cause an accident. I was alerted to your investigation into the 2014 model but wanted to bring it to your attention regarding my 2015 model. Reference: the office of defects investigation (odi) has received nine complaints alleging inappropriate activations of the autonomous braking system in model year (my) 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. All nine reports alleged unexpected braking incidents preceded by collision imminent brake warnings and resulting in sudden reduction in vehicle speed in traffic. Two complaints reported autonomous braking incidents with no objects on the road resulting in rapid increase in brake force and anti-lock braking system (abs) activations. The complaints alleged experiencing multiple events at different locations and road conditions. A preliminary evaluation has been opened to assess the frequency, scope and consequences of the alleged defect. The following voq numbers are associated with the issues discussed in this resume: 10543837, 10713629, 10690650, 10663320, 10630362, 10596913, 10533622, 10533524, 10651269.
I was driving down the road, with my foot steady on the gas, and the transmission shifted hard (8 speed automatic) and lunged my car forward without any pressure on the gas pedal. Then it continued to shift hard and lunge until I reached and maintained 40 mph ( in which my Jeep put the transmission into 8th gear at a steady 1000 rpm). This has happened multiple times since, and sometimes when I remote start the Jeep, it will give off a very loud high pitched whining sound for about a minute, then stops.
Third time of incident. While parallel parking, and shifting from reverse into drive, while foot is still on the brake the vehicle revs and lurches forward. 1st 2 times involved parking on snow/ice. Today, with a dry street and sneakers, vehicle began to rev. I attempted to shift into park to avoid lurching forward but failed to do so in time. When vehicle revs, I hold onto steering wheel and press brake with all my strength but unable to prevent the forward movement.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving at various speeds after disengaging the accelerator and brake pedals, the vehicle accelerated without any control. The vehicle shifted into different gears independently without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.
