1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2023

I'm not sure what components malfunctioned but my vehicle is in a body shop currently getting work done from the accident I was recently in. The safety of my cousin and I was put into risk when I was driving on the highway and I hydroplaned on the highway and did a 180 degree turn but luckily no one hit me and I didn't hit anyone else. I slammed on the concrete median which is what stopped my vehicle on the highway leaving my vehicle with 9 thousand in damages. I filed an insurance claim and is now getting fixed like I mentioned. Prior to the accident I had noticed the car shifting to the left and dramatically declining acceleration and a loud pop by the front driver tire. That is the best way to describe what the car does. So on the day of the incident I believe the car did what I just explained and it caused me to hydroplane and I'm in fear it is going to happen again. I have taken it to another shop after the accident because my vehicle would not start and a different shop said they heard the noise but could not figure out what it was. When I get my vehicle back I planned on taking it to a recall center but I decided to make this report first. There were no warning lights before during or after the accident.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

Electronic stability controls along with traction and fcw affecting transfer case with steering.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2021

Twice in recent months the car accelerated on its own while idling. I received no warning or message. Both times the car surged forward a short distance. I applied the brake both times, but it didn’t seem to have much effect. The car seemed to slow on its own. My search of the internet uncovered many instances of sudden unintended acceleration involving the Jeep cherokee, some resulting in severe injury/property damage, so it is definitely a safety issue. There have been many complaints, over many years, about this same problem, but I could not find mention of a recall notice or service advisory. Apparently there has been no definitive identification of the cause. I would gladly have the car inspected, but suspect that the problem can not be easily reproduced. I have had the vehicle for 5 years and only experienced this problem twice. Of course it only has to happen once to cause serious harm.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2020

28000 miles +\- driving car on freeway in high speed lane in las 405 - the most traveled highway in the us, and the car slowed to a dead stop. Complete loss of acceleration. All electrical still working, lights, dash, radio. Would turn over but would not start. Hour earlier car was idling and idled to a stall. All electrical still working. 5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2020

I was pulling out onto the highway from a stop position, as I tried accelerate the engine acted like I was in neutral or park! I thought I hit the gear shift into park or neutral, but I was in drive. It went back into drive mode second s later. Scary feeling with traffic going 50 mph around me! well it did it again going from a stop position turning left onto a busy 3 lane street. Now I know something is not right!! so far no recall on my VIN #, but many other 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee have been recalled with something similar. It's very scary , dangerous, and hazardous!.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2020

On may 3rd 2020 driving on highway the accelerator sensor went off. Heard a loud pop. Vehicle lost power and speed declined from 55 to 30. I floored it and the car would not reach speed of 55 mph. I had no cell service and was 45 miles from even a town. Limped the car to dealer and left there. This is the 3rd time this has happened and the dealer tells me they can't get it to repeat. When I was driving on fwy 4 the truck wipers suddenly start working and feel like the truck lost power and kind of drive hard I tried turn off wipers but panel turn on check engine light, stability control inoperable, warning light, anti slip. So I scanned with module fixd and shows code u0212 lost comm with scm. Vehicle was park at drive thru atm. Vehicle was placed back into drive and as. Take brake was released, vehicle accelerated without gas pedal being pressed. Vehicle went into forward motion rapidly and brake had to be applied to stop vehicle. Same incident happened again a short time later when pulling onto street. The vehicle lost all acceleration. . . On a highway. . . In a tunnel. . . Surrounded by large trucks. The vehicle coasted out of the tunnel and made it to the nearest siding. No buttons were pushed and the controls where not touched. Both hands were on the wheel during the trip through the tunnel. Once pulled over, it was discovered that the engine was on, but did not respond to the pedal. Turning off and restarting the vehicle allowed the pedal to function again. This was purchased brand new only two and half weeks prior. This vehicle was brought to two dealers and has been with them for the past two weeks.
