1 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

My 2017 Jeep cherokee rolled away three times in one day while in park with the electric parking brake engaged. My driveway has no flat area and slopes toward a public road, creating a serious hazard for my family and traffic. The rollaways occurred suddenly with no warning lights. I had to park the Jeep sideways in a snowbank for two weeks to prevent further rollaways, creating added risks for my family in winter conditions. The vehicle remains at the dealership. During the first two days of the evaluation, the dealer confirmed brake shoe thickness (4mm), verified the epb software was current, and found no diagnostic codes. They could not recreate the rollaway or identify a cause. No mechanical or electronic faults were found. Fca communication has been inconsistent. I experienced dropped calls, long holds, contradictory statements, and repeated refusals to provide written documentation of the inspection authorization. Fca said they could not escalate the safety case unless the vehicle was already at the dealership, yet still refused written confirmation of the purpose of the inspection, and I was not willing to bring the vehicle in without documentation. After the evaluation, when I attempted to relay the required findings per the ro instructions, fca informed me the safety case had already been closed, leaving no record of the defect. Fca said only the rental authorization remained open and they could no longer escalate my case. I then had to re-explain the entire rollaway incident. Fca and the dealer now disagree on whether the ro is open or closed, and fca has not explained who is responsible for the ongoing loaner or what the next steps are. The defect remains unresolved and the Jeep is unsafe to operate or park at my home.

2 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2023

I was driving back home and was travelling at around 30miles/hr on a street. All of a sudden my car dashboard started flashing and all the indicators in the dashboard started to flash. . The vehicle started to accelerate and brake at the same time. . . The engine made a strange weird sound. I had to put the emergency parking lights and pull over slowly. Luckily I was closer to home, so drove back home with the hazard lights on. . The car moved very slowly with the engine accelerating and braking at the same time. Next day, I had the car towed to the dealership and they also saw the same issue. They indicated the throttle control module was behaving erratically and have to re-flash it.

3 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2021

The rear parking assist break does not turn off, yes it is available for inspection. I had an emergency, I could not reverse out of my parking spot because the emergency break would automatically stop my vehicle, it was sensing there was something behind it. The problem has been confirmed by dealer stated it is an internal failure with the factory radio. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, they say, it's out of warranty so they are not responsible even though this was a defect since the beginning. I mentioned it to the dealer when I took my car for service, when I first purchased it, they said all I had to do was turn off the park assist button, that did not work. This is very concerning, its a safety hazard if I can not go on reverse due to the break automatically stopping my vehicle and impeding me from going on reverse. Jeep and mopar are ware of this issue. I am not the only person that has complained about this safety hazard/concern. There are countless individuals that have complained about the same issue.
