I am the original owner for 10 months. Several times over the last ten months, when stopped and then depressing the gas pedal fully without cruise control or launch control engaged, the throttle continues to accelerate even though my foot is removed fully from the gas pedal. It forces you to put the car in neutral and brake until the throttle becomes "unstuck" and the rpms of the engine come back down. I am mechanically inclined and have checked to see if the floor mat or something around the pedal or pedal mechanism was causing the pedal to be stuck but there are no indications of any mechanical interference. I have read from other owners who have had a similar issue with the high performance trims (srt and trackhawk) of the Grand Cherokee. Again cruise control and launch control were not activated in any way. I know there was a cruise control recall for throttle sticking but this is not being observed with the cruise control set or on. Is this perhaps a related issue ??.
2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle accelerating full throttle while vehicle is set to cruise control.
While operating the SUV in cruise control, it was necessary to brake and re-accelerate while driving on the interstate. However, upon pushing the pedal to increase speed, it took between 10 to 20 seconds to increase the speed from just 60 mph to 70 mph. This happened repeatedly over a period of 30 miles. It was very concerning as I was not able to clear traffic properly. I stopped at a rest stop and tried to do the same acceleration from 0 mpg. This time however, the car hung at 5500 rpm's when I reached 75 mph. I had to move the gearshift into manual mode and back to and unhang it. I reported this to national rent-a-car upon my return. I want to make sure this is reported. I felt unsafe.
Driving on the interstate in wy, 70-75mph, rolling trrain, cruise control on. All of the sudden the vehicle DE-acelerated. The transmission was in automatic when this occured. Both of my hands on the wheel when this happened. Tried to re-acelerate, but the vehicle was very sluggish. The gear was stuck in high gear, which would not change until I pulled over, put the gear in park, and then in drive. No injuries, no damage, but I don't want this to happen again. Could have been a badproblem if I was in heavier traffic. When I got home I recieved the recall notice for udden acceleration with the cruise on.
