36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2019

Parked vehicle in sloped parking lot left vehicle running walked behind Jeep with taligate lifted to remove wet items from Jeep. Noticed the Jeep was rolling backwards my quick reaction was to jump back in drivers seat to turn off car. While doing this the Jeep pushed me backwards flat on my back and broke my t11 and t12 on 9-14-2019. This resulted in surgery and stress while not being able to work. I have researched this model of Jeep and appears there was power train issues in 2017 and could be carried over into 2018 models. Please advise.

38 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2019

The upshifter paddle driver control on my Jeep srt trackhawk, along with many other 2010+ fca vehicles equipped with paddle shifters, performs the opposite function (downshifting) when vehicle is in motion- causing the gears to lower one or more, the engine to rev up, the engine to engine-brake, and ultimately the weight of the vehicle to shift aggressively to the front unintentionally.

39 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2019

My 2018 jcg altitude edition with 16000 miles has been having issues with radio and navigation. Cjdr replaced stereo system which fixed the navigation issue but now radio turns up and down on own. Took car in today and there is no fix. They told me when it occurs to turn my car off and then back on which will help it temporarily. The period of which it will help is less than 1 minute before it repeats the volume issue. However this is not acceptable. Vehicle has been shifting very hard and lunging forward without foot on gas, they re-flashed my Jeep twice. Saying my car needed to relearn my driving. I was told by my service technician that he would call when they had some solution.

40 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2019

While driving a message of service shifter displayed and vehicle went like on park mode but in d shift. Car was in motion and became stationary. Shift lights came on. All wheels were locked, service engine light on. Turning car off and back on didn't help. I was unable to move the shift from d to any other shift. It was very scary as I was on heavy traffic road, unable to move the car in the middle lane during work rush hour. It had to be towed to the dealer, tow guy had issues getting into the flat bed as the wheels were fully locked. Awaiting a diagnosis.

41 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 30 mph and attempting to shift gears, the vehicle downshifted. The vehicle was taken multiple times to route 46 Chrysler Jeep Dodge (located at 1655 us-46, little falls, NJ 07424, (973) 339-7752), but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 15,800.

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2019

An issue relating to electrical or power train causes the vehicle to stall and remain in a no start condition. Without warning, the vehicle is completely without electrical power while driving and the vehicle becomes unable to be controlled. This vehicle was manufactured 9/2018, purchased 12/18. This incident happened while driving the vehicle on the interstate at a speed of 45-55 mph on 5/31/18 and again while driving at 30-40 mph on a city street on 10/18/19. Both of these incidents were terrifying and thankfully we were not involved in an accident. The only service that has been performed (oil changes and these two issues) was completed by the dealership where it was purchased. Both times the vehicle failed, the dealership discovered that the master fuse was "blown" and the replaced it. This is an unsafe vehicle that I am now forced to pay for and drive myself and my children around in not knowing when it will shut off and I will no longer be able to control the vehicle or move from the flow of traffic. When calling the manufacturer, I was told that the recall number u87 / NHTSA id 18v524000 did not include my VIN number although the description is exactly the same. This recall explains that the dealer should replace the powertrain control module because it may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail causing a stall or no start condition and potentially causing the vehicle to stall while driving and cause a risk of crash. Yet, the dealership is unwilling to do anything to resolve the issue because the recall does not include this VIN. The manufacturer refuses to acknowledge this issue and this is my only recourse until the issue happens two more times, I survive being in an inoperable moving vehicle and can file for lemon law rights.

43 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2019

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee trackhawk throttle stuck open and began accelerating after removing foot from gas pedal. This issue is not related to the floor mat recall as I have already had the recall performed on the vehicle by the dealership. This could have caused a serious injury or death. I had to press the ignition to turn the power off and slam hard on the brakes to stop the vehicle from continuing to accelerate.

44 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2019

Tl-the contact leased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that upon the dog as well as the contact exiting the vehicle with the gear in park, the gear shift rolled out of park, reversed colliding into another vehicle near the contacts residence. There was no warning when the failure happened as the failure caused catastrophic damages to the vehicle as well as the vehicle that was hit. The dealer darcars Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of rockville, 755 rockville pike, rockville, MD 20852,(301) 424-1700 was notified of the failure. The vehicle was to be towed to the dealer for further testing to determine the cause of the failure and the contact no longer wanted the leased vehicle. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v280000 (power train) but the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the recall campaign. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for a response to determine their solution. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. Dyd.

45 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2019

Had several issues with this rented vehicle still running after pushing button to stop vehicle when parked. Family members told me your car is still on at least 3 times. Had issues when stopped at an intersection. The vehicle seemed to die & was very delayed when starting to go again-required more pressure on gas pedal than usual. Had issues while filling the vehicle with fuel. Several times the pump would cut off (approximately 10 times) indicating that the tank was full when I knew it wasnt. Had a severe issue resulting in damage to the vehicle & the aloha island mart at 50 pakaula st. Kahului, hi 96732 gas pump. I stopped to fuel up in order to return the rental vehicle to budget rental car (865 w mokuea pl, kahului, hi, 96732), I put the vehicle in park, pushed the button to stop the vehicle to turn off the motor. Exited the vehicle to get the credit card out of my purse which was in the back on the floor board in a beach bag I saw that the vehicle was rolling back. There was no slope to the parking lot, it was level ground. I jumped back in the vehicle with left foot outside the vehicle and put my foot on the brake to stop it, it went out of control backwards. Thankfully I got my left foot in and had to use both feet on the break to stop the vehicle. Put the vehicle in park & turned it off again. The door & driver front quarter panel sustained severe damage from hitting the gas pump which also received damage. Although the pump was in workable condition once the vehicle finally started & was moved. This could have resulted in severe bodily damage to myself as well as more vehicle & bodily damage if someone had been behind me at the next pump. Needless to say I was terrified, shaking uncontrollably & the thought of what could have happened. After reading the complaints & recalls on the Jeep Grand Cherokee I feel this one should be added.

46 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Recall: u65/NHTSA 18v-332 just bought it and found a recall on v-6 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. I haven't driven yet. Please send me the certificate to get it fixed.

47 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2019

Transmission doesn't always shift from low gear to next higher.

48 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2019

After driving into condo garage, I put transmission into park, with engine running, and opened door to exit vehicle - car started moving backwards - the surface is flat. I was partway out of the vehicle, hit the brake pedal but could not stop it before the open door impacted a concrete pillar incurring damage preventing door from being subsequently closed. If I had been further out of the car the result could have been far worse. The vehicle behavior was extra alarming because my experience prior was that the transmission tended to bounce back to park when selecting reverse. Also when in reverse - extra effort is required on the gas pedal to make the vehicle move. So here - not only did it seem to be in reverse despite my pushing to park - the vehicle was at idle speed which has previously not been sufficient for movement.

49 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2019

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee just accelerated by itself up a sidewalk at a parking lot and ran into the pillar of a building. I then put it in reverse and it accelerated into a car parked beside me. The front axle snapped completely even though the impact was not tremendous. The air bag did not deploy. This vehicle has all kinds of impact sensors and usually brakes on its own even when it senses a leaf from a nearby bush and none of that worked. This happened just yesterday and I'm at a loss as to what to do. I cannot believe my internet search has yielded so many similar stories!.

50 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

I have a "no start" issue. When the ignition button is pushed to start the vehicle, the starter turns, but the engine does not crank. There are times when it may take up to 10 seconds or so to get the starter to turn off. This is an intermittent problem, but is getting more frequent.

51 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2019

After turning on the ignition and putting car into reverse the reverse light flashes and car will not go into reverse, same for putting into drive. Engine light stays on. This problem only lasts for a few seconds and then the car can go into reverse. I brought it into the dealer they had it for 4 days and could only recreate the problem once. It has happened to me twice prior to bringing it into the dealer. The dealer could not find any electrical or engine issues. I was told to bring it home and when it lasted to longer then to notify them. Very disconcerting!! have to wait until I cannot drive the car!.

52 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2018

After having my Jeep brand new from the dealer roughly about two weeks after purchasing the check engine light turned on. We bought our Jeep from autonation in spring, TX. We live in galveston county so when it turned on we took it to autozone for the free code check - the code read was p20e8 and it just said emissions code. No specific readout was available for the code detected. The exact Jeep we own is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee serling edition ecodiesel. We did notice that the def fluid was not properly filled to the full level upon the purchase so figured it could in relation to that. We drove back up to spring to the dealer and told them the issue and they said ok got us in a rental and then would call us as soon as it was ready. Once we picked it up it we asked what was the cause for the code and the technician said OH well it was nothing - just something that we forgot to turn off. On the way home the check engine light again comes back on the dash. We stop by another Jeep dealer in the way home and inquired with them what they thought it might be and they said that whatever the dealership told you cannot be true. Then bill or service or receipt said check engine light p20e8 was found def pump low pressure fault is stored, found tank low with less than 2 inches of fluid in take, found vehicle was not topped off when purchased, added def to tank and cleared codes and verified proper def fluid pressures at injector. The light remains on two days later and now a message pops on my dash and said def system problems see dealer. Normally I would not be so upset but this a brand new car the dealer (not mentioned) was not exactly helpful dropping off or receiving the vehicle back with any kind of helpful information. I love my car and just want to make sure it can be properly fixed so I hopefully do not have to worry about my safety or the integrity of my car.

53 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2018

This SUV has the energy efficient shutdown/restart feature. After being stopped at a traffic light, I re-engaged the engine/transmission by lifting my foot off of the brake and began pressing the accelerator. There was very little power to accelerate, you could hear the grinding and pulling of the engine/transmission but only a little power. I put on the emergency hazard lights, looked around the dash for messages and verified that the gear was indeed in drive. I continued to press the accelerator to move the truck out of traffic. I made it to a driveway where I could pull off of the main street and not block the morning rush hour traffic. I put the truck in park, looked at everything again (no warnings or error messages) and put the truck in gear and it moved as it was supposed to do. I made it back to the street, went a short distance (less than 2 blocks), started to go up a small hill and the no power issue happened again. I was less than a block away from my destination, so I s-l-o-w-l-y made it to the top of the hill. I parked in my office's garage, reported to work and contemplated what to do. I have had this truck since the end of June and it has only 1,100 miles. I will be dropping it off/towing it in to the dealer repair shop tomorrow. This is dangerous and not acceptable Jeep!.

54 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2018

Transmission problems. The transmission shifts are pronounced, cause the SUV to jerk and feel jumpy. This condition is sporadic, and can change based on mode - normal, eco off, sport . Besides causing a choppy ride, the condition is unacceptable and may be a r a precursor to gear failure.

55 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2018

My vehicle was purchased brand new 11/2018, when I press the button to start it, 75% of the time it won't start and takes several attempts. Also when I shift into reverse, the r just flashes and the vehicle won't reverse. It won't move until I turn it off and restart it again. These two problems occur frequently.

56 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while waiting at a traffic light a message was displayed shift into park and select gear " and the check engine warning indicator appeared also. The vehicle failed to accelerate afterwards. The contact turned off the engine twice but upon restarting a gear could not be selected. The third time the vehicle started normally and was able to shift into the drive gear so, the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The dealer waconia Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge (905 strong drive waconia, minnesota 55387) was contacted by phone and an appointment was made to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,056. Bp.

57 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2018

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to odometer and transmission issues. The consumer stated mileage recorded on the odometer does not conform to the manufacturer's disclosed miles per gallon. The gears of the transmission are defective, the gear shifts into an unknown gear and would not move forward.

58 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

I have a few occurrences to tell about. 1. When taking it through a drive through car wash it was propelled forward at an unsafe speed. The vehicle was in neutral but still was shot forward and the brakes had to be applied quickly. This happened twice. 2. After coming off a freeway and coming to the first stoplight, when the speedometer hit 0 the vehicle lurched forward. I turned the auto stop off and proceed down the road. When I hit the next stoplight, it did the same thing, lurched forward hard, when the speedometer hit 0. 3. While getting up to speed, 70, on a freeway, the vehicle seemed to "miss" gears and it lurched a few times. 4. When approaching a turn, at slow a very slow speed, I tapped the gas for a little more speed and it propelled me forward hard and I had to hit the brakes. 5. In the first week of ownership an alert popped up on the center screen indicating the control panel had detected a problem with the catalytic converter system and it was a fire hazard. After taking it to the dealer they told me they could not find this in the computer memory anywhere and there was nothing wrong. At times I feel very unsafe in this vehicle and the whole reason I bought it is to feel safe and secure. Right now the vehicle has less than 1,000 miles on it.
