Hood Latch problem #1

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep grand wagoneer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the hood of the vehicle suddenly became unsecured and flew open, striking the front windshield, and creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The contact indicated that the locking mechanism bolts had erroneously unscrewed from the hood causing the failure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the hood and locking mechanism and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.

Hatchback/liftgate Lock problem #2

The contact owns a 20122 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph the rear tailgate door had erroneously opened. The contact indicated that on several earlier occasions while driving the liftgate mechanism erroneously activated but the tailgate door did not open. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 50,000.
