Travelling with my young daughter on the freeway at freeway speeds at 9pm (nighttime). The entire vehicle just shut down. Everything - completely dark. Steering went out. Brakes went out. I had to get the car to basically drift to a shoulder and slow down gradually in a spot where we would be safely out of the way of traffic. Again no brakes or steering and completely dead. Hazzard lights would not work. I had to get the car towed and get my daughter and all of our stuff out of the car on the freeway at night in the complete dark. Scary stuff. It's an expensive car and 2022 is the first model year of the grand wagoneer. I suspect based on my experience with this car that this model year will have these types of problems going forward. The car has had electrical issues from day 1 and its unsurprising this happened. What is surprising is just how dangerous the situation was when you were in it. It was a shocking experience.
I would like to file a complaint against Jeep. I drive a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe with 16,000 miles. While driving to the store, the electronic parking brake engaged while driving. This caused braking system damage. Jeep / manufacturer are refusing to reimburse me. The total cost was: $9,129. 26. This effected the actuators, brake calipers, rear rotors, and brake pads. This is not normal wear and tear, however a safety-related defect.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep grand wagoneer. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the abs, the esc, and the parking brake warnings illuminated. The contact stated that the brake pedal felt loose and travelled to the floorboard upon depression; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact shifted to neutral (n), and the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that she was picked up by her husband, who then drove the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle had not yet been diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the same failure had previously occurred while reversing (r) out of the driveway. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
Screens switches to italian, also screens freeze or go blank, front collision warning (fcw) light illuminates and can't be turned off. Bluetooth randomly disconnects, auto door locks don't engage; paddle shifters for manual gear selection cease functioning, pedestrian avoidance, automatic emergency braking, and high-beam assist stop working; memory seats unexpectedly adjust while driving. I have to bring the car to the dealer to fix this, this happens every 14 days or so.
While driving on a local neighborhood street at approximately 38 miles per hour, ( cruise control possibly engaged) , all the lights on my dashboard suddenly illuminated. A messages appeared stating that service was required for every guidance and braking system. At that moment I became concerned, so I attempted to use the brake. Despite pressing the brake pedal as hard as I could, the car did not slow down. I cannot remember if I downshifted using the paddle shifters on the steering wheel, but I was able to coast to a manageable speed and pull into a parking lot. I then turned the vehicle off and on again, but all the warning lights remained on the dashboard. After waiting for about five minutes, the vehicle was restarted, and this time none of the warning lights were on. Since I was very close to home, I drove the rest of the way very slowly. Later, I searched online and discovered that other people have experienced this same problem. Some of the information I read suggested that water can get into a component, and it had been raining on the day of the incident and the day before. My primary safety concern is what would have happened if I had been approaching a stoplight or driving on a freeway where I needed to stop suddenly. I am confident that I would not have been able to stop in time to avoid a crash. It is frightening to think of what could happen if a child were to run into the street and this happening. I immediately made an appointment with my local Jeep dealership. The dealer has since driven the vehicle 98 miles but has not yet been able to replicate the issue.
Multiple warnings with the service hybrid system alert coming on the dash. Code b273c-00 was confirmed by the technician at the napleton Jeep service department. Vehicle can shut off at any time at any speed and there is no resolution at this time to fix the issue. When accelerating over uneven surfaces, the vehicle bucks back and forth violently. This concern was verified with the technician at napleton Jeep. The shop foreman contacted Chrysler zone engineering and confirmed that they are aware of this issue but there is no current resolution for this issue. This is highly dangerous when pulling out into traffic.
I am a victim of sua (sudden unintended acceleration. I entered my driveway and had my foot on the brake petal. Before I could shift into park, the vehicle revved to a high rpm and then took off like a rocket. Brakes were initially hard to press and then the petal went to the floor, and I lost the brakes. This all happened very quickly and took me by surprise. I crashed through a double cyclone gate, closed garage door, back of the garage, double fence in back of garage, neighbors jacuzie and shed, hit the side of another neighbor's house and ac unit. It seemed that the power train electronics malfunctioned and caused all of this. Progressive insurance took procession of the vehicle and declared it a total loss.
I lease a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has developed serious and unresolved safety issues. While driving at highway speeds, typically between 70 and 75 mph, the vehicle has repeatedly lost power and begun to decelerate on its own without driver input. When this occurs, I am unable to maintain speed with traffic, creating a dangerous condition and placing myself, my passengers, and other motorists at risk. In addition to the loss of power, the vehicle regularly displays warnings related to critical systems, including electric mode being unavailable, fuel and oil refresh in progress, emergency/sos system unavailable, hybrid power loss, and an airbag system warning. These warnings are documented and have appeared across multiple service visits. The vehicle has been taken to two different authorized Jeep dealerships and has spent nearly a month in service between them. Despite extended diagnostic efforts, neither dealership has been able to identify or repair the underlying issue. The problem remains unresolved. In addition, two active recalls continue to show as incomplete in the system and have not been successfully addressed. As of now, the vehicle is still at the dealership and is not available for use. Given the unresolved loss of power at highway speeds and the incomplete recalls, I do not consider the vehicle safe to operate. I have contacted both Jeep/stellantis and Chrysler capital in writing to request assistance and resolution. Despite providing documentation and allowing ample time for review, I have not received a response or acknowledgment. All repair attempts, warnings, recall status, and communications have been documented. I am seeking resolution because the vehicle remains unsafe, unreliable, and unavailable for normal use despite multiple repair opportunities and extensive time in service.
I have some major safety concerns with my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, specifically with the aeb. Today was the second time that my automatic emergency braking came on while I’m driving down the highway at 60 mph. The first time was in November. The roads were dry, no other cars coming toward me, driving on a straight stretch, with one car a safe distance behind. My Jeep went from 60 to 0 slamming on the brakes so hard and flashing the aeb lights and dinging on the dash. Seat belts locked up tight and gave you a hard fast whip lash forward. Very terrifying like what is even happening?! the car behind me thank goodness had enough time to slam on their brakes and not rear end me! as fast as you could even comprehend what was happening, the lights and dinging stop and you can drive again. I was like maybe a leaf or something blew over the sensor and kind of wrote it off because nothing came up on my Jeep app. Fast forward to today, February 25th. Again roads are dry, no one is coming towards me, driving 60 mph in a straight stretch and wham the auto emergency brakes slam on again! hard brake from 60-0 mph. Aeb lights flashing and dinging, locking seat belts and whiplashing your head forward as you screech to an uncontrolled stop. I had absolutely no control over my brakes or gas! this time I’m livid bc my children were in the car with me! thank goodness everyone was properly wearing seatbelts and in car seats, and I had both hands on the steering wheel, and it was not on a bend in the road because this could have been very dangerous and not ended well! this is not ok and there is nothing at all that blocked a sensor or would have had any reason to cause the Jeep to engage this feature. I should not have to be afraid to drive my Jeep and now it’s literally terrifying to drive it bc you never know if it’s going to happen. It needs addressed and fixed ASAP and all Jeep owners should be made aware of this very dangerous situation!.
The adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking have not worked properly for over a year. Sometimes I get a message that the aeb/acc is not working and to see the dealer other times I have a light lit showing it is not working. On some occasions there are no signs of it not working but ate acc works like the regular cruise control and does not slow the car down unless you apply the brake. The car has been to the dealer 2 pervious times with no long term fix it is now there again out of warrantee waiting to be fixed. Last time was 05/06/24.
I was parking in my sister's driveway and car just accelerated in to her house!.
The vehicle came to a screeching stop with no visible reason for doing so. Three cars behind me also had to come to an abrupt and dangerous stop to avoid me. I pulled out of my driveway, began to drive, reached 10 mph, then came to a full brake, causing tires to screech. The speed of traffic behind me was approx 25mph.
Driving down a road at 50mph during daylight hours. It was sprinkling and vehicle was in electric mode. There were no cars in front of me, or behind me at the time. While my foot was on the accelerator, there was a loss of power then collision warning engaged out of nowhere with the audible beeps, flashing on the instrument cluster, and sharp braking. The incident was brief, but certainly a safety hazard as there were no indications the automated emergency braking was going to occur.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep grand wagoneer. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the instrument cluster was flashing "systems disabled" and the steering was difficult to turn. The contact depressed the brake pedal to slow the vehicle however, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle back to the residence and the vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred once. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
Lost brakes and steering going 55 mph, and then many warning lights were on the screen saying that different systems were disabled. Was able to coast vehicle to a safe location. Had vehicle towed to dealership 4/29.
Today was the second time the aeb engaged while I was driving with no apparent reason. The first was in Nov 2023 while driving on the interstate at about 70 mph. The aeb engaged, slamming the car to an almost stop, alarm blared for a moment and then the car continued operating with no apparent codes or warning lights. Today it did it again while traveling about 30 mph. I was slowing down to turn into a drive. I was still headed straight with no cars around and the aeb engaged, slamming the car to a full stop, with the alarm and the dash flashing something in red. The car then drove off fine with no warning lights or indicators on the dash. I cannot reproduce the aeb reponse. In response to the first occurrence, the dealer “flashed” the software last year. I intend to take it in tomorrow for the reoccurrence. I believe it to be a safety issue not only in that my back hurts terribly from the whiplash of a stop as sudden as hitting a wall, but because had there been a car behind me on either occasion, it is almost certain they would have had to make a dramatic and dangerous swerve to avoid it or rear ended me.
The brake force will jump suddenly and fall back when the brake pedal is even maintained at a constant level while the vehicle is being braked to a stop or decelerating. This malfunctioning will lead to imprecise control of the distance to the front vehicle. Engine wobbling when it is fully stopped with "d" gear engaged, especially when the transmission temperature comes up after a few hours of driving. It can be clearly felt that the entire vehicle is bouncing with the engine. Engine misfires when crawling after a cold start. Engine speed will fall suddenly and then back up. The vehicle will shake badly, which can cause improper reaction and improper operation of the vehicle speed. The passenger seat squeezes the center console on the right side and the plastic panel comes off, which exposes a sharp edge to the passenger's lower body. After the dealer's inspection, there is no obvious cause for this defect, passenger and center console are all in their places. The rear quarter window on the passenger side water leak. Metal rattling noise from the left front side (driver side) of the cabin when the vehicle is running on a bumpy road, especially in hot weather. Noise comes from the rear left suspension when the vehicle is decelerating.
The contact owned a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 5 mph from a parking spot, the steering wheel became inoperable. The steering wheel failed to move. While depressing the brake pedal, it failed to respond, the vehicle became uncontrollable, and the driver crashed into a pole. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no reported injuries. There was smoke detected, but no fire. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The local dealer was contacted and referred her to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed to a body shop by the insurance company. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 11,150. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 24v132000 (suspension, steering).
Vehicle completely shut off while driving down highway. Completely lost steering response and breaking response. There was absolutely no way to control the vehicle. My daughter and I both thought we were going to crash and die. We live in alaska and it's winter time so the road conditions aren't the best. It took about 10 to 15 seconds and everything came back on and started working again. I drove my vehicle straight to the dealership I bought it from and have demanded a buyback process. I haven't had it a year and even the hybrid heating coolant system has had to be replaced twice.
The vehicle’s hazard lights flash when the brake pedal is applied and my Jeep is not part of the recall.
While I was driving with my family on a highway, I deployed the drive assist function that controls the speed of the car and keeps car in lane, out of a sudden the car itself deployed a sudden quick brake without any immenant risk in fron of me ( there was no car in front of my car for at least more than half a mile) this caused a very close threat from being hit by the cars behind me amd all of my family members to be scared and worried and even my wife blamed me for slamming the brakes without any reason. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer in the coming weeks to have it looked at and fix a recent recall as well as look into another weird noise/sounds that I was complaining to the dealer about in the past but was unable to fix or replicate.
In hybrid mode, the transition from gas to battery power is clunky. It surges forward unpredictably and takes a bit to respond when the pedal is pressed. This erratic forward surge has happened several times, including once while my child was drinking water – which spilled all over him. The brakes are hard to modulate and are never consistent. When driving in e-save there is an awful engine noise. I typically only try to drive the vehicle in electric mode, but that only lasts to a point. At higher speeds and/or further acceleration, the gas engine kicks on- loudly- and without warning. There is no consistency in when to anticipate this abrupt change in how the vehicle drives as it happens at different intervals (ranging from 0%-3% battery left). This vehicle drives erratically, and I do not trust myself or my children riding in it. On top of this, there have been at least three safety recalls on this in three months. Therefore, I do not drive this vehicle unless necessary. Thus, $60,000 is basically parked in my garage with minimal to no use. I have even recently updated my insurance to reflect that it is not in use.
Twice in the last month I was driving to work on a two lane road without any objects in the roadway and the forward collision warning system automatically applied the breaks hard enough for my coffee to splash out of my coffee cup. It occurred at almost the same spot on the road. However, I drive this road at least twice a day. I'm concerned that it might apply the breaks randomly while driving on the highway, thus causing an accident. I have reported it to the dealer. Despite me relaying my safety concern to them, I am unable to get an appointment until July 8th.
After starting 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, multiple warnings displayed on dash including: service power steering, service electronic stability control, blind spot alert unavailable service required, and rear braking assist unavailable. The ignition was fully turned on and after shifting into reverse, there was no power steering which required extra effort to turn the steering wheel. The power steering was out for approximately 20 minutes. After restarting the car 20 minutes later, the power steering and blind spot alert was back. A check engine light persisted. After taking to auto zone to read check engine light, there was no readable code. The warnings have since went away. The vehicle had 2,497 miles on it at the time of this occurrence which was on June 9, 2023 at 10:18 am.
The first occurrence was upon starting the vehicle in a parking lot. The death cluster lit up with power steering unavailable, airbags unavailable, autobrake disengaged, and the the battery warning. The dealership towed the vehicle and replaced the batteries. In April of ‘22 while driving the vehicle the power steering became unavailable, forcing a difficult left turn off a major roadway. The same warning lights came on and the vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed and a new power steering rack and steering gear were installed. Third occurrence was in the driveway recently when again upon starting the same warning lights were on and there was no power steering available. The vehicle is at the dealership now being inspected.
Today while driving our Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was slowing for a stop light and a message came on saying service start/stop system. At the time I was traveling approximately 18 miles per hour. As I was slowing down I reached off approximately 5-8 mph when all of the car shifted to park. This was a very scary and dangerous incident for myself and vehicles around me. Now that I was stopped it wouldn’t let me shift the vehicle back in to drive. Finally a new message appeared saying stop/start restart required. Out of frustration and trying a number of different things, we eventually shut the ignition off and restarted the car and this did allow us to put the car in gear. It was a very unnerving situation. I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership. This is the second time it’s in the shop for shifting to park on its own. After doing some research at home it appears others with the 202/2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee l have been having similar issues. This is a very serious issue that needs fixed.
Going down highway at 40 mph and no cars in front of us or besides us and vehicle activates brakes out of no where. Jeep is been at dealer for last week and unsure what happened and are reluctant to return it to us not knowing if it will do it again.
Car completely shut down all electronics and not moving. Car engine still running, though.
Advanced brake assist / emergency assist issue - while highway driving, during a sunny day and with no cars for at least 1 mile the system engaged the emergency brake as if it detected an eminent accident. This was at highway speeds so caused some commotion in the car. Once safely stopped in a rest area I turned off that system. The next day the active lane management system stated it needed service, that later went away. Moreover when the brake pedal is depressed the peddle pulses, leading me to believe the rotors are warped. This SUV only has 3300 miles on it. It is scheduled to go to the dealership next week.
I work at the Jeep facility doing repairs. We notified management that someone put glue in the fitting for the left rear brake line, where it meets the soft line. The issue was never fixed and the vehicle has since been shipped. The person who fixes brakes on first shift said he’s been putting glue in brake lines since day one. Management has no idea what they’re doing here and these vehicles are unsafe to be in the road.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the message "power steering unavailable, service required" had suddenly displayed and the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who replaced the steering rack and pinion. After retrieving the vehicle the contact was driving approximately 25 mph when the same steering malfunction had occurred causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle and crash into a tree. During the incident the braking system had also malfunctioned and the brake pedal was hard to press and the vehicle did not stop before crashing into a tree. The driver sustained a headache and back and should pains. The front seat passenger sustained back and neck pains. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. No police report was taken. The vehicle was towed away. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 2700.
1. In normal driving condition suddenly apply the breakes full, putting yourself at risk if you have another vehicle that comes behind you, it will definitely hit you 2. On many occasions the anti-collision system is deactivated for no apparent reason, it is almost always in specific areas, I understand that it has to do with some WI-fi signal.
On 2/23/2022, owner struck a medium sized pothole. The vehicle lit up several warning lights (abs, traction control, etc. ) as well as the check engine light. At this time, the driver applied the brakes and they went to the floor. Driver was able to coast into a roundabout and eventually into a parking lot and got the vehicle stopped. Upon shutdown and re-start, the vehicle had brakes again. Vehicle was taken to dealer on 2/23/22 and returned on 2/25/22. Several updates were programmed and battery was replaced. On 3/5/22 driver hit a medium sized pothole on a major interstate at 65 mph and the same thing happened. Luckily traffic was very light as the time and driver was able to exit the freeway and coast to a stop. The car was brought to the dealer again on 3/7/22 where it remains to this day.
Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I engaged the adaptive cruise control. It worked fine until such time as I attempted to pass a large vehicle such as a semi truck. When I would get along side of the truck the brakes violently slammed on without warning. The vehicle has been taken back to the selling dealer for repair and they were not able to fix it. (see uploaded repair order). I then called Jeep customer care who then sent me to another dealer for a second opinion. This dealer attempted repairs twice, both without success. When I took it back again a dealership employee rode with me and took a video of what happens when passing a truck with the adaptive cruise engaged. This dealer now has it for the third time and so far the vehicle has been there for about 9 days with no indication of any progress. Even if they "fix" it I am not confident of the safety of the vehicle as it would be very easy to be hit in the rear end by a following vehicle should this happen again.
