general problems of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is the third time that my Jeep has completely shut off with no warning and in the middle of traffic. I am unable to turn on any hazard lights. The power goes completely out, and I am unable to put the car in neutral or anything to be safe. I have reported this issue in the past. The dealership is unable to figure out what is wrong and I keep trying to get this resolved before it turns out tragically. Please help me before I loss my life in this vehicle.

Vehicle was in electric mode and failed to accelerate under electric power. First time was traveling around 45 mph and went to accelerate to 60mph at speed limit change. Battery was around 95% and gas pedal was gently pressed with no acceleration. Once floored and ice started acceleration continued. Second time was pulling onto the highway and accelerated up to 25mph and continued to press the accelerator and vehicle would not speed up untill gas pedal was all the way to the floor and ice engine kicked in. Battery was about 50%. Delay in acceleration could have caused rear end accident when pulling onto highway. Issue has not happened before. 68c recall was performed on January 13th. Has only happened 2 times so far. Has not been reproduced by dealer. Has not been inspected yet. No warning lights, just electric mode temporarily unavailable when ice kicked in.

Was driving with the kids in the car, all of our safety was put at risk when the warning lamp came on and then the gear shift system malfunctioned. It said service hybrid system then went away. This is the third time this has happened. I had to pull over and got honked at by cars that had to stop to avoid hitting us. The problem has been confirmed by today's announcement over the impending recall for this exact issue. The component has not been inspected, I am scared to drive it to the dealer.

While driving the vehicle, several warning lights activated, the first being automatic emergency braking is disabled. The second warning light advised me to not turn the car off until I got to my destination. It further advised that I would not be able to shift gears. The vehicle began to slow down on its own until it came to a complete stop. I was in the middle of an intersection when this happened. The dashboard was displaying a message saying press brake and push button to start car. Nothing happened when I did that. I could not shift gears or get the vehicle to move at all. Even though, I was getting the message to push the button to start the vehicle, I believe the vehicle was actually on. I was stuck near the intersection for one hour with a tow truck on the way when I was finally able to turn the e vehicle off. When it turned back on, the check engine light was on and the vehicle was able to drive. It has now happened three times.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee 2022 4xe lost power while I was going 65 miles per hour on the freeway. I had great difficulty getting to the side of the freeway nearly being struck by other drivers. I had no power steering and no way to put my hazard lights on when the car lost power. The Jeep is still not drivable at this time and is at the dealership.

I am a victim of sua (sudden unintended acceleration. I entered my driveway and had my foot on the brake petal. Before I could shift into park, the vehicle revved to a high rpm and then took off like a rocket. Brakes were initially hard to press and then the petal went to the floor, and I lost the brakes. This all happened very quickly and took me by surprise. I crashed through a double cyclone gate, closed garage door, back of the garage, double fence in back of garage, neighbors jacuzie and shed, hit the side of another neighbor's house and ac unit. It seemed that the power train electronics malfunctioned and caused all of this. Progressive insurance took procession of the vehicle and declared it a total loss.

On April 12th my husband and I were driving our Jeep after it had a recall and update to fix the recall of a battery issue on all 4xe models. We were doing 45 mph down the road and it threw an error code that said “service hybrid electric vehicle system”, “service emergency braking system” the Jeep then shut off and said for us to push the brake and press start for us to turn the car on in the middle of the road. We were able to safely get off the road, when we came to a stop the car put itself into park automatically. We had to start it a couple of times to make sure it was ok to turn around and drive home. It was then towed to the dealership. They told us they could see the issue logged in the system but they could not replicate the same issue after driving it. They told us that we had to come and pick up the Jeep and I told them how unsafe that made me feel for us and everyone on the road. They told us there’s nothing they could do for us. We got the car back and another issue arose where are passive entry switch became corroded and our car kept unlocking itself throughout the night. The day we got it back from them we were driving it and we got the same “service hybrid electric vehicle system” again. So I brought our Jeep back again and they told me in the service department they’ve been working with the engineers at Jeep and they are waiting for an update to fix it and it’s one of four in the area with this issue and Jeep is fully aware of the severity of the issue. They also told me they would be holding on to our car until it’s fixed. I was called by the head of the service department at that dealership and was told they need their loaner car back and they got word they’ll maybe have a fix for our car in November. They knowingly gave us our completely unsafe Jeep back and told us to try for lemon law - with all parties knowing the severity of the security and lives put at risk on the road. We have gotten this error code many times and are told there is no fix.

I was parking in my sister's driveway and car just accelerated in to her house!.

The system has many errors, the primary issue is the forward collision warning indicator light is on showing that the service is off. But it isn't, you can go into the system settings and turn the service on and off without issue. The light stays on. It does work as far as I can tell also. It seems to be causing the paddle shifting to be disabled. I can't downshift going down a steep grade and am being required to use by brakes. Which can be very dangerous. It is causing another issue that I cannot recall at the moment. There is another issue with the settings of the vehicle randomly changing to euro type metric settings. The clock changing to 24 hour, tire pressure changing to kpa? mph changing to kph, all the different unit of measurements changing over. Randomly, not at the same time but consistently every few weeks. At first it seemed like it was connected to a monthly software update, but now its random. The vehicle has been taken to a Jeep dealership in sherman, TX about the issue of the forward collision system and they fixed it. Then the problem reappeared a month afterward. I've called and they confirm that the correct us software is installed. I am the only driver of the vehicle, so no one else is changing the settings. I work a full time 9-5 job and do not work close to a dealership, which has become an issue for these matters. All the issues I have had with the vehicle seem to be related to them updating the software without my approval. Currently my vehicle has 71k miles on it and won't be covered by the 50k warranty. The warning light issue started after 50k miles.

I recently had a recall fix for the hybrid system battery. Days after the car was serviced my dashboard displayed messages saying to service the hybrid system and the 4wd. Two days later I was stopped at an intersection. I put my foot on the gas and after a few feet I lost power and the car only rolled. I was able to roll onto the shoulder while the dashboard was displaying multiple errors and showed the parking break was on, along with other warnings. I turned off the car and turned it back on. I selected the e-save setting wnich allowed me to complete the drive without any further issues.

Vehicle immediately accelerated as I was attempting to pull out of the house garage. I pressed hard on the breaks to halt it. I then returned the gear knob to park (“p”) mode. I tried again to place the gear knob on drive and the vehicle started raving on high as if it was about to take off at full speed. I waited for a few minutes while it was on park “p” mode, with the engine still idling, and placed it in reverse “r” mode to return into the garage and the same thing happened in reverse mode. It jumped back in full speed when I gradually released the brakes. Engine was raving extremely high. I decided to shut it off and schedule an appointment with the dealership for a vehicle inspection. As is, not certain if it might do the same while out on the street driving it. Vehicle just had a recall inspection done on 4/20/2024. This is the first time the engine has done such.

On Jan 17, 2024, at 5:39 pm, I was driving the vehicle in electric save mode, where the temperature was around -19 degree on that day and I was heading for car wash, during that time, the vehicle in front of me applied a break. I was at safe distance I applied the break as the distance was close even the anti-breaking system did not work on hitting the vehicle at that time, and then it bummed three times. I was in shock at the vehicle's behavior and lost confidence in it. So the police office impounded the vehicle. To make the road safe. None of the air bags were deployed. I am having trouble picturing what would happen if this were on the freeway.

Started engine and had no power steering plus all warning lights on dash.

It is easy, when driving in automatic mode, to accidently touch one of the paddle shifters. In doing so, the automatic transmission disengages, and the transmission suddenly switches to control by the paddle shifters. If the driver is unaware of this, the vehicle can lose motive power if the gear then in effect is no longer fitting for the vehicles speed and the engine's rpm. I recently took the vehicle in for service of this issue because my wife had experienced this while driving on interstate 95, in maryland. The vehicle stopped responding to the accelerator, so she pulled onto the shoulder, put the vehicle in park and turned it off. When she turned it back on, it was back in automatic mode, and she was able to resume driving. The technician and service manager advised that when this occurs, the vehicle can be returned to automatic mode by pulling the right paddle forward. That information does not appear in the vehicle manual, or on the Jeep website. We had two tires put on/rotation at the dealership and the two recalls repaired via a software update on or around the end of August. Once I left, felt the steering was hyper sensitive thought it was the tires. I had two incidents upon acceleration the truck aggressively yanking me into the opposing lane without driver input. Secondly, my wife had it happen to her on a very busy feeder road, the truck not only aggressively pulled her into the adjacent lane but also accelerated. I was told the software update corrupted the electronic steering input and the electronic steering gear resulting in the car 'getting a mind of its own'. I followed up with stellantis about a buy back or swap and was denied. I do not feel safe in the vehicle at all. It literally feels like a passenger is yanking the wheel out of your hands. Very dangerous. My truck is still in repair awaiting parts. Stellantis tells me that after the dealership service department issues a report, they may reconsider. I find it deeply troubling.

While I was driving with my family on a highway, I deployed the drive assist function that controls the speed of the car and keeps car in lane, out of a sudden the car itself deployed a sudden quick brake without any immenant risk in fron of me ( there was no car in front of my car for at least more than half a mile) this caused a very close threat from being hit by the cars behind me amd all of my family members to be scared and worried and even my wife blamed me for slamming the brakes without any reason. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer in the coming weeks to have it looked at and fix a recent recall as well as look into another weird noise/sounds that I was complaining to the dealer about in the past but was unable to fix or replicate.

The issue only occurs when holding down a +/- button to move the speed control to a high/lower set-point greater than a one mph increment. When, after being held, the button is released at the desired new speed level, it continues to increase/decrease speed until the speed control is turned off, cancelled, or the brake is actuated. (the manual for this vehicle reinforces my understanding that releasing the held button, should stop the speed change and save a new speed level. ) I have tested this, and it occurs every time and never stops accelerating until I turn off the speed control function. ( I have released this control at 35 mph and it continues to accelerate to greater than 90 mph and the new speed command is not recognized. ) I can handle this now, but the first time it happened I froze temporarily and believe this issue to be very dangerous if it occurs with an unaware person at a critical time.

I was turning at a intersection, there was no car in-front only on the side , as I was turning , my Jeep suddenly made an emergency beeping sound and break as if I was goin to crash into a car or something. Clearly I was just turning . The break was so hard I even thought I had gotten hit in the back or I had hit something in the front ! the car behind me had to stop and act fast as well otherwise I would have really been hit by him/her. I called my dealer since I had just bought my car 2weeks ago. I have a appt to get it look at , they told me it might be my sensor being dirty or something but I feel like this is a concern Jeep should take care of. Or it will really cause an accident I don’t feel safe driving my Jeep at all now! especially doing turns or just thinking it might breaking when I am driving much faster next time. Car started displaying all mill lights in the message center, including “lane assist disabled,” “stability control arm needs servicing,” “traction control unavailable,” and others. After about 3-5 seconds of rapid fire messages being displayed, the car made a “shutting down noise” and then died on the side of the road. Had it towed to a dealership.

Vehicle loses power randomly, have to pull over and turn it off and back on.

My vehicle has a faulty front camera system that began at around 1800 miles. When driving, multiple lights will illuminate on the dash. The cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep system, and emergency automatic brakes will shut off. It has been in the shop off and on since may 13,2022. Dealership has been replaced multiple parts, but is unable to get camera system to recalibrate and function properly. Car manufacturer, Jeep, has gotten involved and can not seem to figure out what is wrong either.

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I engaged the adaptive cruise control. It worked fine until such time as I attempted to pass a large vehicle such as a semi truck. When I would get along side of the truck the brakes violently slammed on without warning. The vehicle has been taken back to the selling dealer for repair and they were not able to fix it. (see uploaded repair order). I then called Jeep customer care who then sent me to another dealer for a second opinion. This dealer attempted repairs twice, both without success. When I took it back again a dealership employee rode with me and took a video of what happens when passing a truck with the adaptive cruise engaged. This dealer now has it for the third time and so far the vehicle has been there for about 9 days with no indication of any progress. Even if they "fix" it I am not confident of the safety of the vehicle as it would be very easy to be hit in the rear end by a following vehicle should this happen again.
