Unsafe, defective vehicle & refusal to remedy vehicle: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe overlander VIN: [xxx] purchase date: [xxx] dealership: route 18 Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram, east brunswick, NJ I purchased this vehicle new in June 2023. From the first weeks, it has displayed severe, life-threatening defects that make it unsafe and undriveable. Despite presenting it to seven authorized Jeep service stations and contacting both the dealership and Jeep/stellantis repeatedly, no effective repair, replacement, or buyback has been provided. The SUV has just 1,000 miles yet has been out of service for over two years, resulting in substantial financial loss and hardship. Safety defects hvac/defrost failure: after 20–30 miles, the a/c stops cooling and blows only hot air. The blower often shuts off completely, fogging the windshield and reducing visibility to zero. Jeep has acknowledged this defect under NHTSA recall 24v111 (manufacturer code 04b), but no remedy has been made available. Hud mirror glare: the head-up display mirror is misaligned and reflects light from headlights, streetlights, and sunlight across the windshield, producing blinding glare and making safe driving impossible. Failed remedy attempts seven Jeep service centers refused long test drives, logging less than 5 miles even though the hvac issue occurs after 30–50 miles. Route 18 staff admitted seeing the hud glare but told me to “tint the windshield. ” management was dismissive, and Jeep/stellantis corporate has ignored all follow-ups for over two years. Impact and remedy requested I have paid tens of thousands in loans, insurance, towing, storage, and rentals for a vehicle I cannot safely drive. I request an immediate buyback or full refund, or replacement with a safe, defect-free vehicle, plus reimbursement of all related costs. This Jeep is unsafe and abandoned by dealer and manufacturer. Regulators must act now before more consumers are harmed. – [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552.

My windshield has small bubbles in the laminate layer between the glass. It is only noticeable in the early morning and sunset when the sun shines directly through the glass windshield. The safety concern is at night when it is raining. When an oncoming car headlights come through the glass it is impossible to see the road. I have to slow down considerably. Hopefully the road is straight at this point because I cannot see the road. At first I thought my windshield was just dirty. After cleaning the windshield many times the issue did not go away.

6 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2024

I received a safety recall letter in the mail. I made an appointment at the south shore Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram service center in inwood, NY for the repair of the recall and to change the oil. I specifically made the appointment for the recall (I keep getting notifications to repair) I went to the service center (1 hour drive from my home) on may 18,2024 (when I called to check in for the appointment “shanty” told me that there’s no appointment scheduled for me, even though I got a text message confirming the appointment) nevertheless, I went anyways. When I provided the recall letter to the representative, he told me that the service team can only do an oil change and can’t repair the defrost that day. So, after waiting for the oil change, I asked when I can come back for the recall repair, the representative told me that they need to get the parts first. I also notified the rep. That my parking rear view camera doesn’t turn on sometimes when in r and sometimes the screen goes black while I’m in the middle of parking. They ended up letting me go and drive with the recall still active. On June 19, 2024, I read on fox business that stellantis is recalling Jeeps due to rear view camera defects. I called the dealer who sold me the car (apparently he no longer works at Jeep) I spoke to a different representative, she gave me the phone number to mopar and stellantis - nothing else. Throughout the entire time of driving this car, I’ve been experiencing total discomfort. The car constantly jerks, seems like it doesn’t have enough power or traction (even though the gas tank is full and charged too) , and the windshield defrost takes a long time to work, even just the other day on June 29,2024 I started to drive and the windshield got so foggy that I had to stop. This car is dangerous and I do not feel safe driving it.

7 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2024

My vehicle has in cold weather no ability to clear and defrost the interior cabin of the vehicle as described in the recent recall, issued by Jeep, my VIN number was not included as part of this problem is obviously related, and the condition described in your campaign number is an exact match for the condition I experience during the winter months. While driving in boston in heavy traffic, my vehicle fogged to the point where I couldn’t see where I could pull over or if I could pull over or the vehicle in front of me fogged to the point of visibility and every window I had to put my hazard lights on and stop in the middle of traffic. I reported this to Jeep directly, they attributed it to a design defect? the most recent recall issued by Jeep left my VIN number out. With respect to the issue with the headlights activating in auto mode. My vehicle does not have high beam headlights. When the high beams are activated there’s absolutely zero change in lighting conditions and the fog lights stay engaged. Stellaris failed once again to identify all the applicable VIN numbers. What else are they failing to include as there have been four major safety recalls with my make model and year Jeep that did not include my VIN number which is disconcerting to say the least. Especially given the most recent airbag recall in the possible lack of activation. In my opinion, they are limiting this recall by guessing what production dates apply and are ignoring the vehicles that were produced immediately after or during the pandemic, which had items such as rear differential swapped out to a mechanical differential because they didn’t have the stock electronic diff in stock at the factory when the vehicle was built. A reasonable and prudent person would assume that major issues such as these would’ve been missed or overlooked when there were parts shortages as result of the pandemic and supply chain issues and not when things returned to “normal”.

8 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2024

Wind shield fluid is not dispensing onto windshield, wipers operated but no fluid dispensed. With salt on roads visibility out the wind shield became nearly zero. There were no symptoms of an issue before it happened, no warning lamps or messages. Fluid would dispense to rear window meaning system is operational and there is fluid in the tank. Windshield washer fluid tube runs under the insulation on hood of car, found the tube has become disconnected from t-joint under the hood and fluid was running into engine compartment and not on wind shield. Defect happened at ~20,000 miles on car.

Dear administration, I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a potentially life-threatening issue regarding the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe overlander, which I purchased from route 18 Jeep Chrysler dealership in new jersey in June of 2023. The car in question has a critical flaw that poses a significant danger to both the driver and pedestrians. Specifically, there is a glaring reflection cast onto the windshield directly in front of the driver, blocking visibility of the road. This appears to be coming from the head-up display device located on the mirror, which obstructs the driver's view of the road. The glare I'm referring to. Will change several times during a day? depending on the direction, you're going time of day or night and the external environment. It's impossible to drive the car through a tunnel lights on both sides of the roadway, it becomes very difficult to drive the car in the evening in the city environment, with light illuminating overhead on a street way. It's easier during midday but very difficult in early evening, we're early morning. This obstruction makes it nearly impossible to operate the vehicle safely and creates hazardous conditions for everyone on the road. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of multiple Jeep service stations, as well as Jeep wave, the manufacturer's department, I have received no acknowledgment of the danger from them. They have simply stated that this is how the automobile was manufactured, particularly for the specific model, highlander. As a result of this safety concern, I have chosen not to drive the vehicle for the past 10 months, as I refuse to put my family and others at risk. I urge you to take immediate action to address this issue before it results in tragic consequences on the highways. If this specific model of Jeep was indeed manufactured with this flaw, it has the potential to cause accidents and even fatalities.

12 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2023

The vehicles climate control/hvac system has inadequate ventilation that prevents air movement to occur. In cold tempatures all all of the vehicles windows fog and ice over form the inside. This results in the driver loosing visibility out of any window. During cold weather conditions, the rear passengers, windows, and rear wind window, even with defrost drawn ice up immediately along with the double moon roof. Problem limits, visibility, making the vehicle, unsafe to drive due to the limited visibility caused by this inadequate and design deficiency. There are no heating system vents besides in the front dash of the vehicle due to the moonroof. The rear climate controls do nothing to remedy of the issue . When I reported the issue to Jeep corporate immediately after purchase, they acknowledged the design deficiency, and that they were working corrected for future models. This is unacceptable and creates a hazardous driver condition for any vehicle. Had I know this prior to purchase I would have never bought the vehicle as there is no remedy.
