One problem related to door latch has been reported for the 1997 Jeep Laredo. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Drivers side front door became hard to open/close on or around 09-30-05. 10-05-05, hinge (bottom hinge) weld on Jeep body broke completely loose and now door wont close completely. Not repaired yet.
