general problems of the 2000 Jeep Laredo

The lock on the back door of my 2000 Jeep grand cherokee Laredo will not unlock and when I try to unlock it, it makes a "quack" noise.

Just recently my passenger side door locks are not working correctly. You can not unlock them unless the driver goes inside first. The driver must hit his/her lock then reach over and pull on the lock to unlock the passenger side. When trying to exit the car, the driver must hit the lock mechanism on the driver side to unlock the passenger side. I have to do this for both passenger side doors. This is a concern due to the fact if something happens and the passenger cannot get out then it could lead to serious problems. I know I have talked and read complaints by many other owners of 2000 Jeep cherokees and it only makes sense that a recall be issued and hopefully soon before something serious occurs to some individual.
