Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem #1

Lower ball joint failure on 2002 Jeep liberty sport. Original lower ball joint recall was Nov 03. At that time my vehicles ball joints were inspected and the aluminum heat shield was installed. My ball joint was not replaced because they were already replaced under warranty at 23911 miles on 29 Jul 03. I now have 42665 miles today 25 oct 05, and the left front ball joint has failed. It has excessive bump (up and down motion in the socket) and vibration in steering wheel and on floorboard. Vehicle is not safe to drive, and is parked waiting for new parts, based on other failures I have seen or heard about. Jeep has used an under rated part for this application. I have never seen a ball joint only last 20,000 miles and be considered "normal for the vehicle" as d/c would claim. Summary: 2002 Jeep liberty build date:08/01 lower ball joint failures 23911 miles on 29 Jul 03 and 42665 miles on 25 oct 05. On order are heavy duty serviceable replacement ball joints from moog part # k3199, will replace all 4 ball joints with stronger serviceable moog joints. I will be keeping all 4 old joints, including the failed left front lower ball joint.
