I have a safety recall that cannot be fixed according to tunkhannock auto mart and scranton Dodge. I'm experiencing all kind of malfunctions due to the sensor being bad I have no power, my shifting, fuel economy ,hard starts,everything. On a drive home from my mother's house, I had come to a complete stop waiting to make a left turn on a residential road when I heard a clicking sound. Then my seat belt tightened on its own and immediately after that the driver's side air bag deployed. Fortunately I was uninjured with the exception of a slight burn on my forearm.

On 11/11/2015 at approximately 05:00a. M. I started out for work. The airbag indicator light started blinking and about 5 seconds later the airbag deployed for no reason. I was traveling in a straight line going about 40mph. The vehicle is being serviced at this time.

I filed a complaint with a representative from Chrysler and it is shown on the previous page. . However, a couple of things aren't as I described them to her. We received 3 recalls and took the Jeep to mtn. View in ringgold GA on July 28/2014. The recalls were for trailer hitch,air bags and seatbelts. . We were there for approximately 4 hours and were told we were ready to leave. A few (3) miles towards home the air bag light came on-we had stopped at a vegetable stand and immediately turned around and went back to the dealer ship. . They were not happy. . After about 35-40 minutes a guy comes out and said it was our battery!! that we needed to purchase a new one. . We left and started home again and just a couple of miles up the road the light came on and has continued to stay on. . On the other information the girl took she said we did not take the car back to the dealership-but it was not fixed. . I called and filed a complaint because of the harsh treatment and the problem was not solved and because medicine belonging to my husband had been taken out of the console. . She suggested I notify Chrysler and then gave me and odi # 10618678. Chrysler said it was reported the airbag module and a ball joint had been replaced. . .
Seat belt button remained pressed in, after passenger tried buckling in. Seat belt would not latch.
I have been getting these recall for two years and every time I go to the Dodge dealer (helms motors in lexington tennessee 38351) they say the same thing "no parts, call you when we get them". What am I to do with the recalls? I have six on this Jeep and none have been fixed. I thank you for any help you can give me on the problem.
Upon entering vehicle and sitting in the driver seat, an attempt was made to latch the driver side seat belt. Upon inserting the latch into the receiver, the connection did not hold as it had the previous eleven years. Upon further investigation it was visible that the red plastic latching device in the receiver was in a depressed position. The seat belt sleeve would enter the receiver in the slot but would not catch and hold making it unusable and therefore unsafe to drive. The latching device on the receiver was able to be pried upward at one end and, only by sliding the belt latch into the receiver while being careful not to push it any further than necessary to catch, it would latch and hold. If it was pushed even 1/4 inch deeper the latch would stick in a depressed position and a secure connection was impossible to achieve. It then needed to be manually popped back up into the position to receive the belt latch by using a tool with a hooked piece of metal on it similar to a knitting needle or a bottle/can opener on a pocket knife. Prying it up with a screwdriver may also work but might take several attempts, being careful not to damage the receiver.

Issue with drivers side seat belt. Female end button does not return to receive position. Prohibits latching of seatbelt.
Drivers side seat belt receiver failed to reset so it could be used again, had to use screw driver to force the receiver to pop back out so I could insert the belt into the receiver, continues to happen, now over 2 weeks and the receiver never resets, must always use screwdriver before I can lock seatbealt to its receiver. I am the original owner.

Both driver and passenger front seat belt locking mechanism failed within two weeks of each other. They would not latch because the release button stayed in the release position. The only way to make it work was to manually pull the button up to the pre-lock position and insert the belt locking clip. I recently ordered two replacement units at a cost of $185. 00. I looked for used ones but since just about every Jeep in the salvage yards across America were out based on need. I hope these new ones last.
Driver's seat belt latch does not pop up after it is released. Very hard to latch seat belt. Must hold seat belt connector together and quickly move back and forth until it the push button wiggles up enough to latch.
Drivers seat belt latch sticks in open position (does not pop up when seat belt is unlatched). I have seen numerous complaints all over internet. Perhaps no one has reported this dangerous safety defect to you. Latch can be popped up by inserting key or screwdriver in and popping up.
My 2002 Jeep Liberty was bought brand new from the dealer. About two months ago I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden the dashboard turned off and then turned back on, then my car started shaking like it was about to stall, and the engine light started to blink. I got scared because I didn't want my engine to stall and break down in the middle of the highway since it can be very dangerous, so I got off the highway and parked it in a lot over night so that I could take it straight to the dealer the next day. I took it to the dealer very carefully, my car started over heating when it was sitting in place/ traffic for more than one minute, and then it would cool back down when it was moving. Finally at the dealer they changed the water pump, thermostat, and one of the coils. The dealership said the problem was fixed and sent me off. Within that week my car started acting up again, the engine light began to flash again and I noticed my car was still being jumpy. I took it back and it turns out it had blown head gaskets, not only that but the heads were not even repairable. I need a complete new engine. I looked online and have found that it is very common for Jeep Liberty's to have a major engine problem. There is obviously something wrong with the way Jeep builds their engines. There needs to be a recall, it is a defect in the Liberty's. There have been multiple complaints of Jeep engines breaking down with no signs. Also as a side note, the seat belt on the drivers side doesn't really click and sometimes un buckles on its own. There is also an electrical problem, the inside lights turn off and on all the time by themselves.

August 08, bought my 02 Liberty. Took about 1. 5 years to drive it because of an accident - that's why I bought the Liberty. About 1 year later the idle air control valve went out, had to replace it. There's been other, minor things, like when accelerating, feels like someone bumped into me. Sometimes are worse than others. Often feel a "vibration. " within months of being 1 year of replacing the iav, began to get extremely bad gas mileage - about 187m to a tank. Not sure why. Replaced the spark plugs, did a lof, inspection, etc. . Almost exactly 1 year from replacing the iav, check engine light came on. Was on for 1-1. 5 days. I decided not use it until I could get it to the mechanic. Next morning, was going to the store & the light was off! but when I pulled into a parking space, it died. This sort of thing's happened before, db cluster being "faulty. " other things [vacuum seal leak, etc] never prompted the lights on. Had to replace the iav again & it ran fine. Recently, been getting that "kicking" feeling & like my car is running "rough". Today, I noticed the airbag light was stuck on. Checked the manual, it said to have the airbag system checked. I was nervous about driving - had an odd feeling the airbag would deploy - moved my seat back just in case. Since the accident, I get anxiety over these things. Luckily, no deployment. Got it home, turned it off, waited, turned it on, waited a few seconds and the light turned off this time. Went straight to my computer only to find these recalls and investigations - one being the steering - last week had a nerve-wracking experience, my car began to swerve turning left onto the freeway, it was raining, so, I slowly merged. Wasn't until it straightened out that it began to swerve, almost like losing control, didn't feel like a "slip. " but I just assumed it was. Also, the seat belts don't seem to stay click in at times.
Safety recall notice received, yet no action by Chrysler to provide replacemetn parts to dealers. Ocr recall received, yet fca delays delays delays with no replacement parts to dealer. This is long overdue.

In 2002 Jeep Liberty collision at intersection other vehicle pulled in front of us. Driver of Jeep with seat belt on cracked windshield, I, as the passenger, my forehead hit the dash. Going at appx. 30 mph.
Update to odi 10135119, previous issue was drivers front seat belt. Current issue is front passenger seatbelt. It is not working. The female end is stuck in the in position and will not release.
The seat belt buckle on my 2002 Jeep Liberty started getting stuck in the unlatch position about three months ago which means I have to dig it out in order to belt myself in, and it doesn't always work. Due to my unemployment, we tried taking a belt from the back seat and using it in front but now my air bag light won't go off. This seems very unsafe to me.

My 2002 Jeep Liberty front seatbelt latches are inoperative. They get stuck in the "down" position and have to be pried up in order to latch the seat belt securely. I would like to know if Jeep/Chrysler has issued a recall or offered to repair the latches that go bad.
2002 Jeep Liberty has had two failures of seat belt latches. Passenger seat latch was replaced at 80,000 miles and drivers seat now need replacement at 96,000 miles. Both latches failed in the stuck down position.
Have a hard time releasing the front seat belts and when they do release, the release button stays pushed down. There have been a couple of times my husband had to push to release my seat belt, as I could not get it to release. Thank goodness he was there or I would have been stuck in the car.
