While turning from a green light I was probably going maybe 5-10 mph both my driver and passenger airbags both went off and man those things hurt badly but there was no car collision or anything they just went off out of the blue and there was a lot of smoke and left my ears ringing and parts of the dash came apart.
A recall was made for Jeep Liberty for the control arms upper and lower and the ball joints. I was told my VIN did not have the recall. However, others had the recall and Jeep paid for the repairs. After the repairs the wheel hub went bad, and a recall was made for that but not my basic model. After replacing the wheel hub the driveshaft was damaged by all the issues. A recall for the same vehicle was made for a driveshaft and again the bass model was not included in the recall. This time Jeep said they would fix the driveshaft and when it came time they denied it.
On 8-15-2018, I (driver/owner of a 2003 Jeep Liberty sport) was leaving my parking spot at a convenience store. When I put the vehicle in reverse, it immediately started speeding backwards. When I applied the brakes with all the force I could muster, it failed to stop the vehicle. The tires were squealing & black tire marks were left on the pavement. My vehicle stopped when I slammed into the front end of a parked car which was next to a gas pump with the driver inside. Fortunately nobody was hurt. No police report was filed but my insurance company was called immediately to report it. "takata recall" I went to the local Jeep dealership (bluebonnet Jeep in new braunfels,TX. ) with the recall notice in hand. The employee in the drive-up service lane called the office to verify if part was in stock. It was not. She made an appointment for 2 weeks from that date. I returned with my vehicle on my scheduled appointment date & was notified by a different employee that part(s) were still not available & was told that an individual needed to inspect my vehicle first but he didn't know when the inspector would be available to do it. I told that employee that they weren't serious about replacing the part(s) needed. So I got back in my car & drove home.
Loud ting ting noise and severe popping noise from front left side. Driving - ting ting and upon acceleration loud popping that jerks bad - it can be felt.
Cpsc: 2003 Jeep Liberty struck a tree head on and the airbags never deployed. The vehicle was inspected and had a clean and clear car fax of no prior damage history.
After safety recall n46 &r06 Jeep didn't inspect the tank and there's gas leak, as it on the video https://youtu. Be/u-67o4tnsjw . When they give me back my vehicle I had a lot of electrical issues like windows doesn't work and vehicle stopped on the road. This is very dangerous and they don't care. Vehicle is stationery because I'm afraid to fire like more than 50 people in my Jeep Liberty.
Vehicle has approximately 69,500 miles - while in motion on a city street during the evening, the rear passenger window fell into the door frame. Research indicates Jeep Liberty has defective window regulators which causes same to happen and no recall has been issued by Chrysler.
We cannot get any cooperation getting these recalls corrected!.
Rear swing gate doesn't open - whether using key fob or unlocking from front, glass window open but swing gate will click but not open up.
Back passenger window pump went out around 80,000 miles- was not replaced because the price to fix was quoted for at least $600; back driver's side window pump went out at 105,000 miles - prices have seemed to come down for repairs and am looking to get it replaced but it seems soon to have to replace this.
My 2003 Jeep Liberty has been shutting off while I am driving it. This problem has been on going for about 4 months now and I have taken it in to fix it multiple times. I almost got into a very bad crash recently because of the issue and as a 19 year old girl its a very scary issue to be dealing with. I have put in $400 for new sparkplugs which didnt even fix the problem as well as new tires and brakes. This little car problem is taken a toll on my whole life. I did some research and found I am not the only one yet still no answers. What happens while im driving usually if im braking and or turning my car will shut off the oil light will turn on for a second and beep and then if I want it to keep going I have to turn the key again and it will start but this is no longer okay and the problem should be known to Jeep owners or future buyers especially of my model. Please take my complaint in consideration and let me know if anyone has any answers. Thank you, monique gray.
I have repaired my electric windows twice, driver side, rear passenger side and now front passenger side. This has cost me several hundred dollars for two regulators and now I can't fix the recent passenger window.
While driving at 35 mph, observed that ignition key was loose. Pulled on key and it came out of the ignition switch and car was still running normally.
I believe I have 6 recalls on my Jeep Liberty. I have contacted a dealer closest to me asking for service on my vehicle 3 times in the past 7 months. I have yet to hear from them to get any of these recalls fixed. I want to know where I need to go and take my vehicle to get these recalls fixed. I have not had an accident yet but am holding my breath. Patricia willson.
Received notice about r06, which is a recall fixing the original recall for this issue with the airbag and restraint system. I received this notice in February 2015, almost 6 months ago, and no remedy is available yet. I feel this is an excessive amount of time, and should've had a solution by now, or at the very least Jeep contacting me again, and saying "I know we have not resolved the outstanding recall, and we apologize however we are working on the situation". If this was done, at least I'd know there still trying to do something to resolve it, instead of getting the run around when calling the dealership.
Unable to complete recall, including m35 orc filter circut, n46 trailer hitch, and r06 orc module, due to "excessive corrosion", on 7/22/2015 at victory dealership in rome, n. Y. They suggested I bring my Jeep to a fabrication shop to repair, which I did today, 7/29/2015. Cny precision welding and custom fabrication, located in rome, n. Y. , repaired the vehicle for $350, but they wondered why the hitch couldn't have been installed previously. I will bring the Jeep back to victory as soon as I can get another appointment. My complaint is that I am a single mom with no safe car to drive! why couldn't they fix the other recall issues? they don't even have the parts for the airbag issue yet. What is really upsetting is a quote I found from the new york times, "but under federal regulations, automakers undertaking a recall cannot opt to repair some of the affected vehicles and not others, said allan kam, who worked for the highway safety agency from 1975 to 2000. They can't be selective and say, "if they are rusty, they don't get the remedy," mr. Kam said in a telephone interview, "if you can't repair it, you replace it or buy it back. " is any part of the previous quote true? I really need to get some clear direction from the fiat Chrysler company before I borrow more money to fix an unfixable car. I can't afford this mess. I'm taking an emotional beating here. I don't even want my child in a car that can have an airbag go off at any time or aa gas tank explode! this is just terrifying.
We were driving on a busy street to go our house when we heard a warning tone when we were turning over a roundabout. After 10 seconds, the air bags blew up all of a sudden. It was fortunate that we are running only at 10 mile per hour or slower as it was rush hour and there was traffic. Also my husband was able to put on the brake to avoid hitting the car in front of us. We were badly shaken, traumatized and had bruises on our arms and chests due to some parts bursting towards us. The steering wheel cover and dashboard where the air bags were are pretty damaged. We totally cut out the air bags to avoid the repeat of this incident. My husband is now traumatized to drive the Jeep. We also heard some strange sounds in the sepertine belt. We don't now if it's connected to the air bag explosion. Our car was bought second. The first owner who is american imported the Jeep from the us and brought it here (another country in southeast asia). We are living abroad (not in us) and we don't know how we can file this complaint on the defects of the Jeep Liberty we are using. We hope someone can respond and help us. I am putting the contact details of my brother who lives in the us in the personal information in case someone would like to contact us.
My airbag light was showing up intermitent , now will stay on permanent. I am afraid to drive it and have an accident.
I just want to file a complaint inregard to trailor hitch that was not installed on my Jeep Liberty. The dealer said even before the part finally came they would have to check the Jeep for corrision. I do not feel my Jeep has any more corrision on the frame then any 2003 Jeep would have. I'm sure if I wanted to pay for a trailor hitch ,one would or could be installed. I think since I talked to numerous Jeep Liberty owners, who were also turned down, that this is Chrysler way of getting around the cost of installing the trailor hitch. I believe this is a stall tactic & away Chrysler can get around the recall. I hope you can check on the number of hitches that have been installed or if the dealers get a kickback by saying they cannot install a trailor hitch! thank you!.
For three months I have been on a wait list to have recall n46 / NHTSA 13v-252 performed on my 2003 Jeep Liberty. Local service department has wait list of over 100 clients needing the recall units, yet is only receiving 6 or less per month. Went on line to purchase an alternative unit to have installed and submit claim. To my surprise a search of cbxtn461aa identified several Chrysler dealerships that were "selling" the recall parts on ebay while others did not have sufficient units for their clients. This is an unconscionable act of greed. These dealerships should face severe fines for there disregard to the safety of vehicle owners needing these recall parts. Nhtsa needs to put financial punishment clauses into recall agreements to address this type of action. Each of the ebay listings indicate they have greater than 10 units available for purchase. Contact these and any others and have them cease immediately and reallocate their "for sale" units to other dealerships who's clients are waiting on service. The three dealerships on ebay that are selling cbxtn461aa are garden city Chrysler hemstead long island, bob boyd cjd lancaster ohio, and elmwood Dodge east providence rhode island. Chrysler directors also need to step up and set an example of these dealerships and their deplorable act of disregard for client safety.
Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated a recall notification letter was mailed to home address, for NHTSA campaign number 13v252000 (fuel system, gasoline , structure ). The contact stated they have been waiting for over one year for the parts to come into local dealer. The dealer continues to stated the part was unavailable. The contact has not experience a failure at this time. The vehicle mileage was 110,000. Lnc.
Airbag light came on while driving to work. Researched online and saw this has happened in other Jeeps.
I have received the safety recall notice for possible fuel leakage in a rear end collision many months ago and have not heard anything about it since. It said Chrysler plans to install a oem trailer hitch. How much longer do I have to wait to have this done for now I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle.
Passenger rear window fell into the door. The dealership informed me that this is a common problem in the Jeep Liberty. The regulator assembly had to be replace. Is there a recall on this part?.
It appears my vehicle has multiple recalls. Ford has not contacted me for repairs.
The swing gate will no longer open. Ive seen numerous online complaints about the swing gate lock malfunctioning. When pulling on the swing gate handle, only the window unlocks and opens. Both locks used to operate but now only the window lock is functional. Please help. This seems to be a very popular issue for Jeep Liberty 2003.
Safety recall notice has been received, but dealer does not accept vehicle because parts to fix problem are not available from manufacturer. This is the second recall on the same vehicle and manufacturer is not providing parts necessary to fix recall problems.
I received a recall notice approximately 1/1/2014 for NHTSA 13v-252,and have been to the dealer three times to resolve but they never have the parts. The dealer claims that Chrysler is not sending adequate quantities for demand (Chrysler recall # n46). I have reached out to the Chrysler group recall assistance center twice, and have been sent back to the dealer both times with no resolution. It has been an unreasonable amount of time, and I am requesting assistance from the administrator of the NHTSA for assistance in resolving this matter.
Window regulator, which is manufactured of cheap plastic, has broken and caused window to fall. Car exposed to elements overnight.
After turning on the headlights they flicker or go out completely while driving. There is also a loud clicking noise from under the driver side dash board while the lights flicker. I've checked many online websites/community forum sites and there are many postings about this same issue for just about every Jeep make, year and model. Many people have referenced issues with the multi-function switch. With the numerous people reporting this dangerous issue (due to the lights going out while driving at night and some people have experienced issues with aggressive driver thinking the person in the Jeep was flashing their lights in an aggressive manner) I'm surprised their isn't a recall or technical service bulletin. . . The local dealerships have confirmed on multiple calls they were not aware of any technical service bulletin for the lighting issue.
I bought a used 2003 Jeep Liberty sport and after 1 month I had it at the shop where my mechanic discovered the problem as a safety recall from the factory, I was then referred to the local Dodge /Jeep dealership where my car was stated as "unsafe" to drive. I dropped the car off thinking I would have it back within 2 days maximum, after almost 1 week I called and requested a rental or loaner vehicle and was informed by the service technicians that they do not offer such service, as well as they have no idea when they will get the parts to fix my vehicle so they have my car and I have nothing to drive. I then contacted Chrysler llc myself and requested they provide a rental since mine was in for safety recalls. They at first refused stating that it is because I am the 3rd owner of the vehicle, once I argue the fact that it shouldn't matter since it is a safety issue not something I did, they should still be responsible they finally decide to supply a rental by end of the day (9/25/13). I went up to enterprise to wait for a car and while I was there waiting I get informed that Chrysler has changed their mind and this time due to the vehicle not being under warranty, again something that shouldn't matter as it is a safety recall. So at this point I am a single mom with 4 children and I have no vehicle to care for them and no time frame as to when I will have mine back. Is there any way I can get some assistance with this? I feel that since it is their vehicle and it is a factory recall they should be responsible for providing alternate transportation until the work on mine is completed.
The fuel tank on your vehicle has a small chance of experiencing a fuel leak during certain types of rear end collisions. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in an underbody fire. It has been almost a year that I have receive a safety recall. I have called the dealer and they told me I have to wait for Chrysler to send another notice. Are they waiting for my nine year old grandchild to get killed before they send me another notice that the parts are in.
I have known 2 other people with this issue, I have been the only one with fire. My Jeep is leaking oil from the engine seal that is just above the passenger side upstream exhaust (right before the passenger side catalytic converter. I smelled burning oil and I got under the car and there was a small fire which I extinguished with my rag. The problem is also a huge health issue. If you are stopped at a light, or stop sign and have the heat or a/c on. The interior of the vehical becomes filled with the burning smell. Smoke bellows out from under the vehical at these stops also. I am afraid of the thing bursting into flames at a light and being helpless. I know 2 other people that have this exact issue. One of them got rid of their vehical, the other still has it. This is a major defect that will result in fire, or as I see it cancer due to the smoke entering the vehical. I have to clean the oil saturated area at least once a week.
There appears to be water leaking on the passenger side front and passenger side back into car when it rains and it is severe.
None of the recalls are being fixed I have been to Jeep place in claremont nh and in springfield vt and all they can say is we dont have the parts for it now how safe am I surpose to feel when they sell these vec and dont fix them.
