2 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2021

The airbag deployed on my wife that was in her third trimester pregnancy while driving on the highway, which left the baby and my wife at risk. She was sent to the emergency for abdominal trauma. Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, or ram dealer were unable to locate a recall number for the Jeep airbag system occupant restraint control (orc) module. It was a very long process and Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, or ram dealership located on I-10 kept giving us different responses about our airbag being at the dealership and then later finding out that they did not have the airbag in stock. The dealership offered $500 to keep the vehicle, but I refused and just wanted them to repair the airbag. The dealership kept calling us to pick up the vehicle and in order to do that, we would have to get it towed to where we lived. Luckily, a staff member at the dealership informed us that if we were to pick up the Jeep at that time then we would be fully responsible for it and could not hold the dealership accountable if something worse happened. Instead of following through with towing it, we did our own research and discovered that there were several similar testimonies about this issue for the same year make and model, (2003 Jeep Liberty). We called corporate several times and they were unable to locate the recall number nor give us a solution. After several months had passed, we finally received a recall number via text and email from mopar. Com. ( fca recall # r06). We then contacted the dealership with the recall number and confirmed that this was an issue that needed to be taken care of. They took several months to locate an airbag and finally repair the orc module. Once the vehicle was ready for pick up, they did not exactly walk us through the vehicle and new parts installed. The Jeep was in poor condition; it was left outside, uncovered, and paint is now peeling. Seatbelts do not spring back, dash lights are dim and steering is screeching, engine light is on. This took a total of 8 months.

7 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

I took my vehicle to the dealership to have the orc module replaced as part of recall campaing r06. The service writer informed me that after r/r of orc, they had to replace the front impact sensors, which was not part of the recall, and afterwards they could not communicate with the orc and it would cost me $100. 00 or so to have issue diagnosed. I couldn't afford it and now have no air bags. Also after leaving the dealership I noticed the pass. Seatbelt is in a constant locked position while the drivers side seat belt never locks even when brakes are applied. Fca said I wld need to pay for the diagnosis & if found to be related to the orc recall fca would reimburse me but I can't afford the diagnosis fee. So now I have to drive a vehicle with no air bags and no seat belts. How can this be considered a remedy to a recall situation? fca stated that it did sound like it would be related to the orc recall. If that is the case why should I have to pay for the diagnosis? it doesn't sound like to me that fca truly cares about the safety of their customers. Is there anything that can be done to get this rectified without cost to the customer? this happened in may of 2016 & I didn't know I could report the incident to anyone or should even question it until I spoke with a neighbor who used to work for a dealership who advised me to look into the issue further as he said it didn't sound right to him.

8 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2016

I just received a call from Jeep that an outstanding recall is still on my vehicle and looking back some months ago, I brought my car into a dealer to have all of the recalls fixed and they said they need to order a part for one of the recalls. I never received a call back stating that the part was ready to be installed. Had it not been for this current call from Jeep I would have forgotten all about it. The car had been acting funny , going fast then making a noise and going ok again. I am not a fast driver as in November my husband of 32 years , passed after being in a hit and run , from people with no insurance , my life is pretty much hell . I was starting to smell something funny like burning and I thought I maybe a tire or strut. I was at a signal second car in and loots of traffic , including school buses. There was a gas station about 30-40 feet from me , but the first car went in to get gas , so on second thought going by the pumps was not a good idea , so I put on signal and tried to pulled over . Car were speeding past me and the car began to accelerate and ll to the right,I turned left or pulled to the left , crashed into a pole hard . Seat belt went flying off , air bags on side did not go off , but front ones did . I broke my leg and bruises, plus a black eye. Since the week before I lost my job , I am doomed , have to try to find a job , because I can:t my car get unemployment. I loved my car first and only car I have ever had. Is there anything you could do to help as I have had many recalls and had them checked, but thois is just so strange I thought I had .
