9 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2017

This vehicle was purchased new and has less than 140,000 miles. #1-it has corrosion on the outer body panels that is starting to go into the frame. The corrosion has caused numerous cuts, scrapes and damaged clothing as you get in and out of the vehicle. #2- I started smelling antifreeze but you couldn't see any leaks unless it was parked downhill so I took it to the shop for diagnosis. After several test they found it to be the head gasket. #3- I also have issues with the drivers side seat belt staying latched. You can be driving along and it will just release and it takes awhile to get it to latch back. #4-it wouldn't let me select the option to talk about the window regulators that just all of a sudden decide to work by themselves. I've had several people discuss these issues with me and I'd not seen any issues until lately, regardless of how significant anyone thinks these issues are I've worked in the auto industry long enough to know that the maker should stand behind their product regardless of the significance or age of vehicle.

10 Seat Belt problem

When fueling, the gas tank sensor fails and causes the gas pump to not automatically stop and gas overflows. Luckily I was not standing too close when this happened. Accident on 12-8-2015. Was hit in front end. I was stationary and car travelling about 35 mph hit me on right front end. Air bag deployed but the seat belt didn't hold at all. 17 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2015

Suspension issue. It appears that the front end to be coming loose. Lots of noise such as grinding, etc. I stopped at garage and had them out it on a lift for inspection. The determination was that the front, left and right, upper and lower ball joints are defective. Upon inspection by the mechanic, and by me visually, it appears to be premature wear. Mechanic suspects a product defect, as do I. I checked NHTSA official site for recalls. Multiple recalls for this suspension issue. Seat belt driver's side latching mechanism between the seat and console sticks intermittently. Sometimes it takes multiple efforts to disconnect the seal belt so that driver may exit the vehicle. Dealer claims there are no recalls on this item and no warranty. Current mileage on vehicle is 74,400 miles. Electrical power window assemblies. All four assemblies have been replaced. During the first year of ownership (bought new in 2005) both left and right front window assemblies were replaced under warranty, since then all four assemblies (front driver and passenger sides, and rear driver side and passenger side have been replaced at the expense of the owner. This is a multiple occurring problem and in my estimation seems to be a product design and manufacturing problem.

18 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2014

Driver seat belt unlatches from time to time. I could be just sitting at light, or driving down road and it just unlatches. I put it back on, and sometimes if immediately unlatches again for no reason. I have had to keep doing it 5 or more times within 10-20 minutes. I drive 15 minutes to work and it has been happening at least once if not more every day.

19 Seat Belt problem

Drivers side seat belt becomes unbuckled without warning. Required replacement of seat belt receptacle assembly. This exact same problem also occurred on my sons 2005 Jeep Liberty.

20 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

My 2005 Jeep Liberty driver side seat belt randomly unlatches, sometimes up to 3 times in 20 minutes as of this week. The problem began one week in July 2014 out of nowhere. I called Chrysler at 1-888-992-1997, spoke with a woman named ashley, gave her my VIN number, and asked if they would replace the seatbelt given the 2002 recall of Jeep Liberty seat belts due to the same problem. She said they would not. She advised me to fix it on my own, and to save my receipts in case one day Jeep does to decide to recall my years seat belts. I use my Jeep Liberty 2005 to drive my two children under three. Their car seats rely on the Jeep Liberty 2005 seat belt as well.

21 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

Seat belt complaint after arriving for an appointment, I was unable to exit my 2005 Jeep Liberty renegade because the driver's seat belt latch would not release. It took several minutes to get it to do so. Later, when we were shopping, my husband could not get the latch to engage as we attempted to leave. The red push portion of the release latch would not function. The red push portion of the latch was depressed, and it would not disengage for several minutes. We were stuck in the parking lot while we struggled with this issue. Either way, this is a dangerous issue. In an emergency, will I become trapped and unable to escape? to be safe, we must be restrained, but it appears this seat belt is not doing its job. My husband took our 2005 Jeep Liberty renegade to the dealership, and they merely told him these things wear out. Really? my 19-year-old Honda's seat belts are still just fine! things like this should never "wear out" on a vehicle. Huge safety issue! to make matters worse, the part will take at least 10 days to arrive, and we will be charged to replace it. This seems very wrong!.

27 Seat Belt problem

Drivers side seat belt unlatches itself while driving, seems to initialy lock, but will unlatch anytime while driving.

28 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

I've had multiple window regulator failures (leaving my car open to theft and damage), seat belt broken, and air condition compressor, and rear axel problems. All issues happened shortly after the warranty expired.

29 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

Both front seat belts have difficulty locking and they continually unlatche while driving.

30 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

We have a 2005 Jeep Liberty that spontaneously releases the driver side seat belt while driving. It "clicks" into place (fine) and holds tight when you pull on it, but will intermittently unlatch without touching it. It does not exhibit any consistent pattern as to its defective behavior when releasing. Just driving under normal circumstances without any pressure on the belt will allow it to come undone.

31 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2010

The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that when starting the engine, there was an unusual squealing noise coming from under the hood. Upon further inspection, the contact found that the serpentine belt tensioner had failed. In addition, the contact stated the vehicle was experiencing emission failures due to unknown wires rubbing against emissions tank hoses. The dealer advised the contact that the repairs to the vehicle would be his responsibility. The contact was able to repair the emissions failures himself. The manufacturer would provide no assistance. The failure mileage was 27,500 and the current mileage was 28,288.

32 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Both front seat belts continually unlatch by themselves. Also, they are hard to get latched. The vehicle currently has less than 50,000 miles and had only approximately 25,000 when the seat belts first started malfunctioning, so they haven't been used that much. I called the dealership to complain but they said the seat belts will cost $60 each without installation. It's sad that such a prevalent and serious issue such as this isn't currently being recalled. Maybe it'll take a few people being seriously injured for Jeep (Chrysler) to perform this recall. . . . . . But then again, they'll probably just say the person simply wasn't wearing their seat belt.

33 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2009

My daughter had an accident while driving to school this morning and although she hit head on and the hood buckled her airbags did not deploy nor did her seat belt restrain her. She did not have any severe injury, didn't hit the stirring wheel or her head but she has minor neck pain at the moment and I am taking her to the hospital as a precaution.
