1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

My windows will not roll up and down. If I roll them down they will not come back up. My air conditioning went out and I had to drive , 45 minutes, home in 105 degree heat with no recourse . I could have passed out! there was a recall on the windows parts but I bought my Jeep used and the recall ended before I purchased it. If Chrysler diamler knows that there is an issue there should be no end date to the recall. Every vehicle should be repaired. What if I had a baby or child with me?.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2019

Since the day I got the vehicle I have had nothing but problems it shut off while driving the steering wheel would lock up and all lights on dash would light up. Turn the key off wait a minute and it would start back up. Ground wire issue, the driver window stopped working 2x electrical problem. The power side mirror doesnt work it. While driving switches between 2 and 4 wheel drive on its own. The 4 wheel drive doesnt work. Transfer case, linkage cable broken. The part time light stay flashing or lite up on the dash the drive shalf broke and lower ball joint broke while driving. While driving the loss of traction lights up the dash. The radiator fan stopped working, water pump broken. The ac compressor and clutch went out while driving. If I leave the climate knobs turn on while vehicle not in use it drains the battery, ( the form wouldn't allow me to click any more boxes) I've had it towed, I believe this was a lemon and shouldn't of even been sold.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2019

I was driving down the road when there was a bad pop sound loud sound I didn't know if I had been hit by somebody throwing something or if I'd actually been shot at and then the window slams down it just literally disappears I wasn't for sure if it was shattered with glass flying everywhere so I had to pull into the turning lane . It all happened so fast very fast this is my 16 year old daughter's car had she been driving I feel like we would have been talkin about different circumstances because I barely kept control of the car to pull it to the center lane. Not to mention both of the back windows will not roll up or down there now taped we have owned this car may be 3 months at most. I just went to the reviews and you can literally read for hours on the windows in the 2007 and a few other year models in the Jeep Libertys in a couple other models where their windows literally do this a lot I called Jeep to see how much it would cost to fix their wanting outrageous some of money knowing there's an issue. I was so upset I call Jeep customer service today this happened because I could only imagine my daughter being behind the wheel of that stupid Jeep and I was very emotional like I said I barely myself controlled the Jeep well enough to get it off the road this shouldn't be happening I asked him does it take someone to die to get things recalled because like I said you can literally read online reviews about the Liberty 2007 for hours about this issue and these don't happen just want some people that actually replace their windows motors and all this other rigmor or numerous times I guess I should have read the reviews online before I got it for my daughter because I definitely wouldn't have got it. Please help.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2019

This is the 3rd window lift plate on our Jeep that we have had to get repaired . They want to charge me $550. 00 to replace this one also . This problem makes us not want to open any of our windows, which is a manufacturing defect which should be under a recall. The track is plastic and it breaks a lot . I've heard many complaints from unsatisfied Jeep owners with the same problem. We were parked and my wife tried to open the window and it snapped and the power window wouldn't roll back back up and we were stuck with the window half way up and it was 5 degrees outside. . . Not fun !!!!.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that there was an internal failure with the wire being pinched concerning a wire with the oxogen sensor. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who indicated that the pinched wire was the failure however, there was no specification of what part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not inspected and diagnosed by a dealer yet. The vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 06v036000 (electrical system) however, the vehicle exhibited the same failure related to the recall campaign. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000. Dyd.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

Third brake light rust, due to poor seal and design. Cost hundreds of dollars in repairs, which is silent until the light falls out and damage is beyond a simple repair. I was alerted to this by the auto body shop, that told me it was common in Jeep Liberty, and did my research. We are the only owners, and it has good service records. Spend half of it's time parked in a garage, why is this a issue. Why are many Jeep owners having this issue. Jeep is being repaired light fell out, therefore making it unsafe to drive. I will have a bill for repair at completion. My husband was leaving our driveway when the light was noticed hanging, before it could fall out in traffic.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2018

My Jeep Liberty is not listed for having the follow problems according to the VIN number. 1-electrical system 2-brakes - hydraulics-abs 3-traction control the Jeep brake pedal will pulsate then drop to the floor. Then the abs and traction control light will come on.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2017

Engine light stays on all the time. Also abs, traction, eps lights flash on intermittently following a warning sound. This panel issue can occur upon starting the vehicle or while driving on both interstate and on city roads. Have brought it to my mechanic three times now. My mechanic has plugged the unit into the diagnostic sysrem to check error codes and it registered five random error codes simultaneously which he felt were unrelated to the iissue, nor was it possible to have those five related codes all at once. He suspected that it was a panel malfunction and wondered if a recall had been issued that he was unaware of. But he went through the process of checking connection and cleaning connections anyway. He suggested to bring it back to a Jeep manufacturer for further evaluation if it recurred again, which it did! from the complaints listed, it sounds like Jeep does know either but they continue to charge consumers for repairs that have not solved the problem. Obviously driving the vehicle is not safe per customers complaints either. Perhaps someone is waiting for a tragedy before any type of recall is considered which is sad.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The car was in motion and came to a sudden stop while reversing in a spot. Car shut off and black smoke care from engine and then caught fire. No warning light or indicators came on during this time. Once I was out of the car it caught fire.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

Vehicle was parked in parking lot and would not start when turning key. No sound or movement. Mechanic noted broken rod in steering column. Jeep would not replace inexpensive rod and only sold entire $700 steering column.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

I was driving on the interstate and several warning lights appeared on the dash board. I took the vehicle to the local repair shop and found out that the airbag clockspring was no longer operational. In addition, the anti lock brake feature, cruise control, and airbag are no longer operational. I have been looking for this part for quite some time and it is not available in most cases. The original cost for the clockspring ranged from $80 to $130 depending on the dealer. I have been able to find one clockspring and the dealer wanted $650 for the part plus installation, and he only had one available.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2016

With key in on position it tries and will crank by itself. Also not getting power to some of the fuse box and the part time light stays on when in 2wd. When asked Jeep dealer I was told they never hear of this and when researching the problem there were tons of people with the same problem and no result of what to do. All issues they just want to charge thousands of dollars to fix.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2016

My 2007 Jeep Liberty sunroof is leaking for the 2nd time in 3 months. The first time I went and got the drainage tubes cleared out by the dealer. It started leaking again 2 days ago, and when it leaks, water gets into my car. My mechanic opened it up and found the entire sunroof is actually broken. He suspects that the dealer new about the issue of the sunroof but didn't tell me. There is a pending lawsuit against Chrysler for this issue, however they are refusing to acknowledge the problem and are not offering compensation at this time.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

Aside from the numerous problems with the windows actuators failing (6 times) as mentioned in many complaints on this site; esim valve replacement due to a check engine light constantly on; a complete transmission rebuild (at about 60,000 miles); sunroof failure; back tailgate door failing to unlock or open; gas spillage problem when filling up and the hitch recall, I am now having problems with the door lock actuators failing. I've already had to replace the one on passenger door behind the driver. Now the driver's door lock has also failed. This was discovered after a somebody rifled through the items in the car. Nothing was stolen but I was sure I locked it. Sure enough when I tested the locks, the door did not lock or unlock using the key fob, the door lock button on the inside or the auto lock feature when going over 15mph. . All the other doors working at this time. But who knows when I'll have to have the other 2 doors fixed. First door failure date is in the "when dis this happen" section.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2015

The ac began blowing hot assuming it just needed service took to my mechanic, he said the ac light on the button on the dash was also not working but freon pressure was fine, take it to dealership. Took into dealership informed me that it needs hvac control that it had gone out caused clutch to seize and then caused compressor to have a small fire. They are recommending replacement of both at 463 for hvac control head and ac compressor at 738 for a grand total of approx. 1200 for repairs. This hvac system has been known to catch fire in the passenger area and has been recalled but they keep telling me that my vehicle VIN does not match the ones that have been recalled. This could have resulted in a dangerous vehicle fire and this is my family vehicle that my 20yr old and 10 year old son often ride in.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

Check engine light remains illuminated, trouble code for evap system leak. I have purchased 9 gas caps, including most from the dealer. Smoke test has been performed, cannot locate problem. Also, interior lights flicker occasionally while driving.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2014

I was driving to my dad's for thanksgiving, and on the PA turnpike my Jeep suddenly dropped from 60mph to 20mph and under the hood looked like smoke. I immediately pulled over and popped the hood and noticed the whole driver's side near the battery was engulfed in flames. I immediately called 911 but because I was on the turnpike they came first. I had left my hood up and because it was raining the fire went out. The turnpike official cancelled the fire truck and we waited for the tow truck. The Jeep was towed to the closest garage to my house but they have had it over 2 weeks and I am concerned that they might not know how to fix it. I saw a similar problem on a Jeep chat room and this guys Jeep was totaled because he had to wait for the firetruck and they had to put out the fire.

Glass lift plate& motor have both given out at least twice in less than 2 years. It costs over $200 to have the dealer fix it. The window just falls for no reason. Come on we need a break. I dont know about the rest of the world but when I have to pay to fix something and it is veryexpensive I expect quality.

Why has their not been a recall on the Jeep Liberty window motor that breaks, this is dangerous, this winter when it was 20 below wind chill my daughter and her 3 month old baby were driving in the middle of south dakota when the window fell down, ( this is the 3rd time a window motor has gone out in 2 years,) I had to keep the baby inside my coat to keep him warm, it took us an hour and half to get home…this has been bothering me for 3 months, and writing now because the window motor broke again…. 26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2013

In 2010 I purchased a used 2007 Jeep Liberty from a dealership. Within the first month of the purchase the mechanism inside the front driver's side door broke causing the window to drop into the door rendering it unusable. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and they repaired the mechanism for free. In 2012 the same mechanism in the same door broke again. This time I was told that this is a common occurrence but was forced to pay for the repair myself as Jeep has not yet recalled the mechanism. Yesterday, December 21, 2013 the mechanism broke again this time in the front passenger side door. I have called the dealership again but have not yet scheduled a time to fix the unit. I do not feel as if I should have to pay for this repair as it is an on-going issue and obviously a defective product.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2013

On 3/19/13 the rear passenger window dropped into the door frame while the vehicle was not moving, sitting in driveway. Vehicle repaired under 2006/2007 recall by dealer. On 7/16/14 the front passenger window dropped into the door-frame and the vehicle was sitting the driveway again. This was reported to Chrysler claims and the August Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealership at 1201 greenville Ave, staunton, va 24401 (540)885-0875 on 7/16/14. Spoke to julie, employee id je779 refused claim on 7/16/14, because of mileage. She was informed that the window was never properly repaired on the former recall. On both occasions the window completely just fell out on its own, just sitting in the driveway. This is a very serious safety issue and windows do not just fall out. I am requesting that this modification be correct and complete and reimbursed by the above dealer which did not do a complete repair the first time. This vehicle has never been in any accident. Currently I have had a recall for a recall on the fuel tank modification and that has never been done. I have had that for months and months and this is still pending.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2012

When going to put the drivers window down, I accidentally pushed the switch for the back seat window behind the driver's seat. When I hit the switch it made a funny noise. So, I left the window alone with plans to get it fixed. The window was up at this point. I went to work and when I returned to my car at the end of the day, the window was all the way down. I attempted to put it up using the switch and it made the same funny noise.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

With passenger door in unlocked position door can not be opened from outside.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2012

Three power windows, driver, passenger and back passenger side have gone out due to motor failure. One was replaced but the window still tilts when lowered and raised. All three windows had same issue prior to failing. Apparently this is a widespread problem and I am beginning to wonder why there is no recall.

31 Electrical System problem

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2010

Left rear window failure up or down; driver's side window still works but catches. It appears that someone didn't do their job in quality control in making the equipment that regulates the windows. Which makes one wonder if there aren't other parts not up to standard. Chrysler needs to replace at their cost.
