The contact owned a 2011 Jeep Liberty. When the contact entered the vehicle and depressed the brake pedal, the vehicle surged forward, struck another vehicle, and crashed into a concrete wall. There were two injuries that required medical attention. The contact did not observe any warning lights illuminated. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle continues to accelerate when brakes are applied. When approaching an intersection on suburban street with stopped vehicles, brakes were applied, the car continued to accelerate causing a crash. Only by changing gear to park, did acceleration stop.
