My airbag light is on in my dashboard and doesn't go away. I also got my vehicle serviced because my check engine light was on and one code that came back was because of my headrest .
Head restraint is broken and needs replaced. I purchased the car like this. The dealer refused to fix it even when I told them it was a part of the safety system, since it's an active head restraint. I saw it right after I purchased the vehicle.
Vehicle is 23 months old with 67000 miles. The driver's side energy absorbing headrest assembly came apart. The vehicle has never been in any type of crash where the headrest would have been used to absorb crash energy. I contacted my servicing dealer to inquire about warranty. They told me that due to the mileage, it is not a warranty collectable repair. They advised me to contact Jeep customer care. I did and spoke to alisha. She informed me that Jeep would not be willing to cover a replacement headrest as my warranty has expired. She did say that if I took it to the dealer and had them look at it, if they determined that it was a manufacturing defect, they might be able to cover it. I am an ase certified mechanic with 23 years experiance that manages 3 shops for the nation's largest parcel delivery company. I am more than qualified to determine if a part is broken. I will now have to source a replacement on my own and make the repair to maintain the safey of the vehicle.
