The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while independently doing repairs on the vehicle, the contact noticed that there was corrosion on the sub frame, both on the front and the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the sub frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.
The front and back cross members are rusting. This is the same problem that the 2007 Jeep Patriots and compasses were recalled for recently.
I bought 2008 Jeep Patriot new, this summer (2015), I failed inspection due to a rusted out front steel frame assembly, that holds the steering unit and the lower arms of the wheels, it directly effects the steering. I have looked on the internet and have seen other people having the same problem. I have also looked on the internet and have seen where Chrysler was recalling older 2007 Jeeps with same problems but not mine. This job cost between $900. 00 to $1000. 00.
When taking a trip to the grocery store. Which is about 20 miles from our rural home, when driving on the highway, an oncoming semi truck was coming in the opposite direction, and when he passed me, the hood of the Jeep literally lifted up about 1/2 inch. The hood didn't come off, the pins actually caught it before that happened, so I contacted the dealership where I had purchased it from and they told me that what they could do was to drill two holes in the hood of the Jeep and attach heavy duty cotter pins to keep it secure. Advice not taken! I have looked on a few different complaint sites for 2008 Jeep Patriots and apparently I am not the only person to have had this occur, and one gentleman's hood actually did come off, causing him to crash, luckily he was treated for scrapes and bruises only, but it could have been devastating! there are a lot of things that are good about the Jeep Patriot, but this is one aspect that I wish I would have known prior to purchasing it, as I am sure this would not have made it to my "gotta have it" list of vehicles. Come on Jeep! take care of your customers! you didn't hesitate to take the money, so fix the issues!.
I parked my manual transmission in the bank flat parking lot. I put it in n' and pulled the e brake and placed my keys in the cup holder of the Jeep. I walked inside and waited in line until someone told me a red Jeep was going backwards down the main road. I ran out of the bank, down the road to find my Jeep stopped by a brick wall with the brake still pulled. Not only did it drive backwards on a very busy road it made a left hand turn out of the parking lot and then again at the light where it ran into the wall. Lucky for everyone it was a good driver and did not hit anyone or any car. Two men who recovered the Jeep where shocked to find no one in it.
My roof leaks water into my car through the map lights. This happened the first time in 2011 and again in 2014. The first time, Jeep repaired the damage under warranty, but I will need to get an estimate for the out-of-pocket repairs this time. Internet research tells me this problem is not isolated to just my Patriot.
When turning corners, vehicle will dump water inside from the interior dome light, front and rear. This causes driver to be distracted. Because of the water leaking into vehicle the headliner grows mold and mildew. Not only is the musty smell terrible is causes headaches, sneezing, itchy watery eyes witch distract driver. The mold and mildew creates a bio-hazard to into that has to be in vehicle. Chrysler dealer has attempted repair 11 times but vehicle still leaks. Upon investigating this model of Jeep apparently there are numerous complaints about water leaking inside vehicle. Water also pours down onto the electronics inside and everyone knows water and electronics don't mix.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Patriot 4x4. While parked, the contact noticed water leaking from the map light headliner onto the interior roof of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician stated that the drain tubes would have to be cleaned. After the drain tubes were cleaned, the failure persisted. The technician stated water had built up in the side panels and rear cargo area. The water was drained but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately ten different times. The contact stated the moisture in the vehicles computer was causing electrical failures. While parked, the engine continued to run after the key was removed from the ignition. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.
Water leak, rear dome light, rear dome light fills up with water than leaks into spare tire wheel well. Fear short will occur in light. Leaks every time it rains or go through a car wash. I saw water in the back of the vehicle from almost first day I bought it, but thought it came from rear hatch when I opened it. But one day I saw water dripping from the rear dome light. My 08 Patriot is at the dealers now and has been there for two weeks. This is the fifth time at the dealers. Dealer has no idea where it leaks. They even took it to a body shop. The dealer said they can make it leak but don't know how to fix it. I filed a complaint with Chrysler . Still waiting and trying to get them to buy it back since it is still under warranty. I am passed the lemon law date in va. Anything older than 18 months is to late to file a lemon law claim.
There is a water leak coming from the roof area after a rain with vehicle parked outside. Most of it is coming down near the dome lights upon stopping from forward motion. It causes water to go into the dash and electronics panel and onto driver and front seat passenger. Sunroof seal was replaced by dealer with no result. I returned it to dealer for further inspection and repair. Major hidden water damage suspected. Dealer says they cannot get mfg involved at this time. I requested a replacement and was told it could not be done without a trade up for more money.
Less than a year from buying the Patriot a severe wayer leakage started from the sunroof, sides and interior light of the Jeep. I literally need an umbrella inside the Jeep in order to protect me from not getting all wet. This happened continously and can happen with the Jeep parked or runni g. This make me have to stop driving everytime it start to rain because of my reaction and reflects when it happens driving had made me loose the control of the vehicle and being very close to cause an accident. Ive made multiple claims to the dealer and the central offices of the company here in pr and left my Jeep multiple times in the dealer in order to solve the problem. They left me without any other car in order to transport myself for more than a week no mattrr the Jeep was in warranty. I also was being mistreaten by the manager employees and customer service personel. I got tired of this situation and decided to a temporary solution made bu my personal mechanic. If by any chance I have an accident and get injured or injured soneone else I fully responsibilize Jeep and all their CO mpany for this and will take legal actions. I ve been doing research and there are multiple complaints regarding this and there are no sokution or recall at all. Im just asking myself if they are waiting to have someone to get severe injured or dead in order to do something including all the safety agencies ??? I have multiple photos that can give faith of ehat im describing its true.
Water on the floor on driver's side after heavy rain. Dealership discovered a poor patch job on the firewall done at the factory which allowed water to pool on driver's side. Dealership had vehicle for a week to remove interior to dry out and repair hole.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that water leaked through the dome light. The contact stated that the failure started out random. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times, but they never found were the leak was coming from. The dome light now leaks whenever it rains. The failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 70,000. Rl.
