I was on the freeway going about 75mph when all of a sudden it lost acceleration I couldn't get it to go more to 35 or 40 mph in and gear. Pulled to the side and let it sit for like 15 mins and it started up normal drove fine for a little bit. Then I went the back way home and didn't go over 50mph and it was fine got home and parked. Next morning went to leave and like 5 miles down the road only doing like 40 mind you. It completely goes out no acceleration just revs. Towed it home now it still starts and goes into gear but won't move just acts like its still in park.
About 2 weeks ago I was working on brooklyn. I got out of work at 8 and the roads were bad as I was going down jefferson rd my car started sliding so I just let the car go because I couldn't stop it is inevitable. So my car hit the ditch by the church. I was paranoid but I knew I was fine so I was able to take my car out of the ditch and I got down and checked it and everything was fine but the radiator was leaking my coolant. So I got in my car and drove carefully and slow until I got home. I got my radiator fix because is the only car that I have to move around. I took my car to get checked out because I was scared that something else might have broke. I took it to budget tire where they told me about all this stuff that I need it fix which I knew I didn't need them fix because I got my car fixed before winter hit so I told them that I was going to get a second opinion so I took it to tufts auto service. They checked my car while I was there and showed me that none of the things that budget tire said it was wrong was wrong. They said everything was fine except the subframe. They told me it would cost around 2500 to get it fixed with them but that told me that I could get a recall because of safety. Main reason why I took it to get checked out was because of safety reason. I didn't want to cost an accident so I wanted to take every precaution that I need it. They told me to call the Jeep dealership because they should be a able to do a recall since is a hazard driving it like that. I talked to them and they told me that I had no recall for my car. I bought my car from my friend. I have insurance and everything is up to date.
The subframe has corroded causing my tire to break while driving down a city street. There is a problem that Chrysler is aware of but has not to informed the public only service. If I have been driving on the freeway this would of been a horrible accident and could of caused bodily harm.
Horn honks on its own at anytime without touching it. When car is running on the street in town, or highway, and when the engine is cut off, parked.
I've made a complaint already but my 2010 Jeep Patriot again stalled out after getting a full tank of gas and driving off, luckily still at the gas station and when I was getting coffee for my 3 and a half hour drive to school, it stalled out 3 more times when I am in drive. I was scared it was going to stall out on me while I'm driving for the whole drive. It's very dangerous because the steering wheel is locked and what if it happened when I am on the road and there is a car behind me? I could get rear ended. Many people are having the same issue with the Patriot.
Passenger seat 11/10/2018headrest deployed on its own.
When I travel and I want acceleration can't do because turning off and can't move the car. Before was after 70 and now after 55 mph.
My 2010 Jeep Patriot was purchased at Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler dealership in jax FL off blanding blvd. I have had my vehicle since may 2018 and have not been able to drive it in almost 3 months due to transmission that is to costly to fix. It broke down in August 2018, got it fixed in October 31st 2018 and it broke down on me again on November 3rd 2018. I don't understand why there has not been a recall on these vehicles because all the reports I read on them are complaints about these cvt transmissions that's in them. I got another transmission and it's doing the same thing.
K cross member rod is completely rotted out and too dangerous to drive. I paid extra to have extra protective undercoating put on. Stationary my computer cannot send you any of the documentation I have. I am also contacting ohio attorney generals office as I see there are many other complaints just like mine about the exact same thing.
The steering wheel locked up while the vehicle was in motion at approximately 45 mph. I was driving on a back country road and slightly turned the wheel to follow the curve in the road when the wheel locked up. Fortunately, I was sharing the road with just a few other drivers, it was a slight bend in the road, and I was able to use the breaks. After I came to a complete stop, I had to utilize great force to turn the locked steering wheel. It seemed like that maybe loosened it up some but not quite all the way??? then, I turned the vehicle off for a few minutes, restarted it, and then it seemed to be ok. After being inspected by a mechanic, I was told that they could not find anything that would have caused an issue for this to have happen. They said that further disassembling could possibly locate a problem. This is extremely concerning and hazardous! I'm not sure if others have had this issue as well but it should absolutely be looked into!.
When braking, the Jeep seems to loose rear control features. The same often occurs when slowly accelerating. It has "shifted" from one side to the other at times when general straight road driving occurs. Speeds have never exceeded 30 mph. Braking loss of rear control occurs at speeds never exceeding 5 miles an hour.
Ever since I had tires put on, the seals leak and I was told it was an issue with Jeep Patriot rims. Electronic throttle control randomly comes on and the car wont go, I have to pull over and restart (intermittent problem over several months) now the the electronic stability control malfunction light came on and wont go over 20mph. Ive read several complaints. Why no recalls on this?!?!?.
The vehicle is a 2010 Jeep Patriot latitude, trail rated model. Apparently struck a rock with the tailpipe which caused the muffler to move upward, resulting in the muffler getting caught on the muffler hanger mounts. This allowed the tailpipe outlet to rest above and on the inside of the bumper cover fascia. Damage to muffler and tailpipe was cosmetic, but heat from the exhaust caused the bumper to melt and char. Cannot be certain if there was any flame or fire as others have reported. We attempted to dislodge the muffler by hand, but it is too tightly wedged in. Road hazards are a fact of driving, and drivers should do their best to avoid them. However, light to moderate impact to a muffler should not cause a situation where a hot tailpipe can come in contact or close proximity with any plastic parts (such as the bumper cover) that could melt, char or possibly ignite. The problem with both the Patriot and compass have been noted in elsewhere on the internet and it is for certain this is not an isolated incident. At this time, I would respectfully ask that Jeep - Chrysler provide a fix for this design problem for any potentially affected vehicles, and in addition, work with those owners whose bumpers have been damaged.
We have had several incidents with this vehicle since a routine service and unknown recall was performed in August of 2013. Using only authorized Jeep dealers to evaluate there seemed to be no problem with the vehicle. My daughter was routinely driving this vehicle and it burst into flames and with the assitstance of 3 fire trucks and 3 sherriff cars the flames wer extinquished. Fortunately she is not injured but the car is totalled. In my opinion, this is a highly unsusual situation and my suspisions is that something is wrong with this vehicle. I hope that some one else does not have to experience this trama I wish that I could send a picture with this reply. The car is at a Jeep dealer in saint augistine florida.
The car was in drive going 60mph. It jerked several times and went into limp mode to 20mph. The electronic throttle light as well as the traction control light went on. I took it to my mechanic he confirmed the car needed the throttle body. The part was on back order due to a redesign (red flag there). It took three weeks for the part to come in. My mechanic replaced the part and my Patriot is still going into limp mode. The computer threw out many codes. My mechanic after working on the codes for two weeks said that he could not figure out the problem and suggested I have my Patriot towed to the dealership. I get a call from the dealership that my Patriot is throwing 3 pages of codes. I learned my Patriot is not the only Jeep/Chrysler vehicle having these issues. I think that Chrysler should look into this issue, to have a car go into limp mode while driving 60mph can be very dangerous!.
5 months ago there was water leaking from rear dome light and headliner. I took it to the dealership. They were unable to duplicate the problem and said it was probably the sun roof seal. So I replaced that at $241. 00. It happened again and worse. They are still unable to duplicate the problem. The dealership wants to pull the headliner to "look" for the problem at a $500. 00 cost to me. If this is a common issue with Jeep Patriots. . . Why are they doing nothing to assist the customer? this is nothing I have done to cause the problem. What ever happened to good old customer service with a product that is defective?.
I started noticing a damp/moisture type of smell in my Jeep and thought it may just be the vents from having heat/ac on! but then started finding a little water on my passenger side floor mat and seat! just a few drops and thought maybe just from opening the window! it kept happening and happening every time it rained and snowed! then I noticed water dripping from the passenger side window pillar next to windshield and realized it was leaking! I called Jeep and they told me I have to pay for it even though I'm under warranty! this is not right and I bought an extended warranty and still financing the damn thing! something needs to be done about this! the Jeep reputation is being scarred by this, in my book!.
