Fuel Pump problems of the 2012 Jeep Patriot

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that upon placing the fuel pump nozzle into the fuel filler neck, the fuel pump shut-off as pressure was built up inside the gas tank due to poor ventilation. Due to the failure, the contact had to slowly pump gasoline into the vehicle as the fuel pump would frequently stop due to the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified and referred him to the local dealer for assistance. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who linked the failure to the recall however, he was informed that the vehicle would have to be repaired by a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
