Five problems related to throttle control warning light on have been reported for the 2015 Jeep Patriot. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While on the highway, electronic throttle sensor light comes on. Vehicle starts jerking, slowing, and dies. Causing you to lose steering and adequate brakes.
I've done a lot of research and many other Jeep Patriot owners are having the same problem with the throttle body. I was attempting to accelerate on a 40 mph road that people are known to fly down and when I stepped on the gas pedal my car did not accelerate but completely lose the ability to accelerate. My car stopped in the middle of the dangerous road as 3 lights simultaneously appeared on my dashboard; the lights were the throttle control warning light, traction control light, and transmission warning light. I was scared to death and acted quickly but this is simply unacceptable and unsafe. Will Jeep simply wait until this causes the death or serious accident of motorists? I believed the throttle body was dirty so I cleaned it out following standard procedure, however the throttle warning light still appears and my vehicle struggles to accelerate. I will be taking it into the shop very soon but this should not be the responsibility of the vehicle owner, this is extremely unsafe and uncalled for when the vehicles suffering have less than 50,000 miles.
Takata recall electronic throttle light keeps coming on cause the car to lose speed and eventually stall as the weather changes. While car is in motion once reaching above 40 miles per hour.
Over the past month the throttle body control light, check engine light, and traction control light has come on when I go to accelerate. Just like others have reported, it comes on when I'm driving on the highway & just dies, you can't steer the car or anything. Or you go to accelerate and it dies & you almost get rear-ended. I cannot believe how many reports are on here similar to mine and there has been no recall although it looks like there was one for the 2016 Patriot. What will it take, someone dying? this is a huge safety issue when your car will just die while driving 65-70 mph & you can't steer or anything!.
