1 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2015 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/30/2022

The speed sensors in the rear wheel hubs are held on with a thin wire clip. This rusts away very quickly and the sensor falls out. Then the brakes can be applied without the driver touching the brakes . This is very dangerous and almost caused an accident in my car and the dealer says there is no recall yet, but there should be. . !.

2 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2015 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

On Jun 1 2022, my abs light came on , then the brakes came on without me applying them several times, I called the dealer sawyer motors ,and the service manager. Said this has happened before with this model to other customers. I am a certified mechanic also so I pulled the fuses for the abs system so the brakes will not come on without me applying them . That stopped the problem but now I have no cruize control, speedometer, or back up lights. I checked the rear right wheel bearing hub and the speed sensor had come out of a weak poorly designed thin holding clamp on the rear wheel hub. Most cars have a more secure way of holding this sensor to the rear hub not a thin sheet metal clip which rusts away and the sensor just falls out. . . . ! causing all these problems and the safety issue. . Now the whole hub has to be replaced at several hundred dollars cost.

3 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 11/07/2019

I have had the wheel speed sensors and other associated parts as to why my abs light is on and all that's left is the abs module. I know other Patriot owners that are having the same issue and it affects the driving on my vehicle. Seems like my brakes aren't working quite right when I depress the brake pedal.

4 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

Abs sensor , electrical stability control and 4x4 warning lights came on while driving and vehicle slowed down. We slowed down and pulled over. We restarted the car and drove for a couple of miles when it happened again. It has been a recurring issue; this could be dangerous because of the way to car slows down unwarranted. The abs light is illuminated, meaning the abs may not work in an emergency. I have seen many complaints about this on car forums. We had a mechanic work on ours and they replaced the wheel speed sensor and the wheel bearings; this fixed this issue for a couple of months but it has begun again. Its possible this may be an issue for all the wheels???.

5 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2009 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

I have a 2009 Jeep Patriot at first my Jeep starting to rev up and down then the Jeep would jerk hard then speed odometer needle would go from the speed I was going to zero to max it would do that a few times then it would not register at all after that my abs light would come on my esc light as well then my front brake would start to grab and lock the front end down, I work at a dealer ship so I unplugged the abs module and it drove fine no problem expect I have no speed odometer when I got to work I pulled the codes and it told me it was the left front wheel speed sensor so I ordered one and replaced the part and hooked my abs module back up test drove and checked codes all was fine later that after noon driving home from work I just pick up the kids from daycare it started to do it again this time when my brakes locked up it came to a dead stop I was going 55 mph on the highway I was able fight it to the side of the road and unplug the abs module again and drove fine went to work the next day pulled codes once more told me it was the right front wheel speed sensor this time I order an new and replaced it, still doing the same thing it keeps jumping back and forth between codes from left to right. I think it might be the abs module and those can get expensive. I would rather trade it for a kia before I pay that money. This issues could have killed or severely hurt me and my family my kids where in the car both time.

6 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem of the 2007 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 05/30/2013

The Jeep Patriot has an issue with the abs ecu programing. When the abs wheel speed sensor faults the ecu detects it as a wheel speed change. Activating the abs breaks. Unlike every other car when the sensor is faulting it should just simply turn off the abs system and display a fault code. This is dangerous and almost caused me an accident when the brakes started activating on their own.
