Unknown Or Other problem #1

I was going down the freeway at 68 with cruise control on and when I tapped the brakes to kick the cruise off it slowly died and wouldn't restart,so had it towed and when it came off the truck it restarted(about an hour and a half later). My dealer contacted Chrysler and they said to change the fuel pumps(2) and fuel lines between tanks, this has been done but I haven't driven it much since. I heard on the radio that this or similar things had been accuring with this model so I wanted to put my 2 cents in and maybe here if there was a different fix for this problem>.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Our 2009 Jeep Patriot has stalled out over 35 times since October of 2011 after moving from California to florida. The issue of the Jeep Patriot stalling out always occurs at an intersection while waiting for the light turn green. The stalling out issue is more likely to occur on most, humid days. However, it has occurred on dry, humid days and on a rare occurrence, at night. The vehicle manufacture, Chrysler Jeep and the dealership have no answer for the problem since it has been reported, but they mechanics don't know how to "fix" or "repair" the problem of the Jeep Patriot stalling. It has to do with the Chrysler Jeep corporate offices not sending out a repair alert to dealerships and also because the problem of stalling cannot register on their computer diagnostic tests. The safety of the 2009 Jeep Patriot is a concern with my family since stalling out can result in an accident or a low provability of being a fatal rear end accident.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Car is stalling when stopped at a red light, or waiting to make a turn. It shakes violently and if it is not given gas immediately after shaking begins, engine will cut out. I have almost been hit because I have to turn the key and re-start the car. This happens every single day at least 5 times a day. I have brought it to the Jeep dealership twice and $900 later, they can not tell me what is wrong with my car. I have not noticed any change at all after having the car serviced.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

The clutch master cylinder in my vehicle has gone bad. The part has been ordered but it is on back order across the united states. It will take a week for the part to be made and received to complete the repair. According to my repair technician, when trying to locate this part, it has been determined that this is a problem in Jeeps across the nation. I have contacted Jeep, and they are unwilling to look into or assist in the situation. My entire clutch system had to be replaced and the cost, at this point, is outrageous = $1315. 92. Luckily, my vehicle was parked when it no longer would change gears, but I have children, and if the gears had locked up while the car was in motion, we would all be dead!.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Water in dome lights, unkown source & I believe it is likely there is water throughout the interior.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Water leaks through sunroof and while driving leaks from front light, back light, and door panels. Worried about electrical issues due to water damage. Could cause safety systems to malfunction.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

I purchased a 2008 Jeep Patriot new in 2008. In 2011 with 28,916 miles on the vehicle the ball joints had to be replaced. Because the ball joint were permanently attached to the control arms, they had to be replaced as a single unit. The tires on the vehicle were worn through to the steel belts due to rubbing from the bad ball joints. If I hadn't felt the change in my vehicle, I might well have had an accident from a front end blowout, or from one or both of the ball joints failing while I was driving. The mechanic who fixed the vehicle and the Jeep service manager that I spoke to said that there is no way the ball joints should have needed replacement with that low mileage on them. The service manager checked for recalls and said that there weren't any. The mechanic even gave me the old parts to prove that the repair was definitely needed, and in case there was a recall in the future.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Lower ball joints are pre-maturely worn and loose.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

2008 Jeep Patriot front ball joint needed replaced at 46,000 miles.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

While driving down the interstate in the rain, water started pouring through the interior lights, both front and back, water was even coming in through the air bag points. Water got into the radio/cd player/vents everywhere. I was scared, it was hard to see and after several minutes was able to get to the side of the road (extremely hazardous), I was very lucky I did not crash, as it was very hard to see. Upon inspection at the dealership it was discovered a bulletin was out on the car for front/rear sunroof drain system failure and the gasket/seal on the sunroof failed. I have only had the Jeep for 8-9 months.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

2008 Jeep Patriot - dome lights are leaking. If you are not paying attention to your vehicle and don't notice the water damage until it is too late you will be paying to get the water damage fix.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

After going through a car wash water started pouring out of my interior map lights (dome lights). A quick search online for Jeep water leak dome lights resulted in 760,000 matches. There are thousands of blogs/websites/forums all referring to this same error. After heavy rains or water exposure (e. G. Car wash) the water leaks through the interior dome and map lights. Many sites indicate the manufacturers reluctance to make the repairs and treat the situation as though they have no prior indication of problems. With thousands of websites and so many people reporting the dealers are reluctant to repair this obvious design flaw, I am left wondering how many many people have to report this water leak to the manufacturer before something is done to correct it (voluntary or mandatory recall). Fortunately I am still under warranty but I am not looking forward to arguing with the dealer over something that is clearly a known issue.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Although the wire to the starter had been replaced in October 2010 by the dealer, the car was still having problems starting. I took my car to a relative to check my car since nothing was really getting resolved at the dealer. Once my car was turned off it would not restart. My car was examined and the wire they replaced was not placed back into the protective casing and was slightly charred. In addition, the starter was burnt out and needed to be replaced. The core was kept by the auto part store the new one was purchased from. The dealership said replacement of my starter would not be covered under warranty. It was very surprising the starter had to be replaced just after 3 years.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

Water leaks occur in the Jeep Patriot (all model years) from the sun roof, a,b & c pillars, the front dome light and rear dome light. The water leak is so heavy that water will fill the void between the actual roof and liner. Water also forces its way into electronic systems, such as the radio and various controls. I am concerned over possible damage to safety systems. Jeep will not repair it out of warranty and has yet to come up with a proper fix. . Read more...

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Both right side speakers went bad on my 2007 Jeep Patriot trail rated. This is a known issue and there is even a technical support bulletin yet Chrysler denied me coverage because the vehicle is out of warranty. When they have a TSB recognizing that the speakers are defective. This should be a recall.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Sunroof is leaking into cabin of vehicle through dome light.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

When turning corners, vehicle will dump water inside from the interior dome light, front and rear. This causes driver to be distracted. Because of the water leaking into vehicle the headliner grows mold and mildew. Not only is the musty smell terrible is causes headaches, sneezing, itchy watery eyes witch distract driver. The mold and mildew creates a bio-hazard to into that has to be in vehicle. Chrysler dealer has attempted repair 11 times but vehicle still leaks. Upon investigating this model of Jeep apparently there are numerous complaints about water leaking inside vehicle. Water also pours down onto the electronics inside and everyone knows water and electronics don't mix.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

I have taken my 2009 Jeep Patriot to the dealer 2 times in the last 6 months, and for a 3rd time on Monday. It leaks through my map lights and on the interior sides of my vehicle. I am concerned about the leakage on several levels! also because the leak runs down on my stereo. Plus, this happens only when driving so I am worried about the water getting into my electric things while trying to drive!! there is also leakage discovered now in the rear gate! the dealer has "corrected" this twice now and hopefully will attempt it again on Monday!.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

My car was still having a delayed start when attempting to start the engine a month after taking it into the dealer and having it checked. There were even times when it would not start the first time. One day, literally about 0. 5 miles after exiting the freeway, the rpms went up and down chaotically and the car began to come to a stop. Luckily, I was able to coast over onto the side of the road and call for assistance. And good thing I was no longer on the freeway. My car was taken to the dealer. They looked at it and said a wire to the starter needed to be replaced, as well as the battery. They replaced the solenoid wire to starter and I purchased a new battery.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

The car was shifting hard into gear, more like a manual, instead of smoothly shifting. Sometimes there was a delayed start when starting the engine. This occurred for several months and was taken in to the dealership to be examined. They replaced the intake manifold and flash pcm. The dealership kept the old part.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

Roof leaks when it rains. It has done this three times with a substantial amount of water leaking through the map light. First leak in September 2010 last leak was 3/1/11.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

2009 Jeep Patriot sunroof leak - after a heavy rain I got in my car and when I drove off water poured from my map lights. Took it into the dealer and the cleaned the drain lines. About a week later we had another storm and the same thing happened. I took it back to the dealer and until it rains again I will not know if it will happen again.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

Immediately after purchasing the 2009 Jeep Patriot an interior water leak was discovered. I have a receipt for visits to dealer on 11/3/09 with 2282 miles on it. Next visit was 11/17/2009. Another visit on 1/6/10 with 5790 miles on it. Another visit on 9/14/10 at 12170 miles. Yet another visit on 9/24/10 at 12435 miles. Again on 12/7/10 at 14897. I know there were a couple of other visits and I am awaiting print out from service department. It has been to the dealer over 7 times for this problem. Everytime they say it is fixed only to discover it is still leaking. They have sealed, caulked, check drain tubes, etc. They have replaced headliner too. Water comes into the overhead electrical system and runs out of the overhead lights like a faucet or waterfall. Water ponds on the rear cargo area and this area is completely soaked. Water is even down in spare wheel storage. Water comes from all overhead lights depending on pitch of vehicle. Unknown if water is running down interior sides of vehicle or where else water is pooling. Concerned about mold, rust, water damage, electrical problems, etc. , that are being caused by water entering vehicle. Dealership has "fixed" it numerous times only to not have it fixed. Vehicle is scheduled for return visit to dealer for another attempt at fixing this problem. Vehicle repairs have been covered by warranty but I am very concerned about the longterm damage and repairs needed after warranty expires and the damage the water is causing to my vehicle. Service techs say don't worry about the water, but this is a serious problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

Numerous problems with water leaking through the dome light and onto all electrical panels on the dashboard. Brought the vehicle to the Jeep dealer who claimed they cleaned the sunroof drainage tubes but this did not solve the leak problem. Jeep refuses to cover this problem under terms of warranty.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

Sunroof leaks; during a car wash or a simple rain. We have had the Jeep to 2 different dealerships to be fixed. Funny, there is no record of them fixing the problem, which is obvious since it's still leaking. Each time we took the Jeep to be "fixed" it was still under warranty. Now that it's not under warranty, it's like pulling nails just to get chrylser customer service to call back and or even attempt to help. My husband is convinced that since there is no fix to the leaking problem, they just "attempted" to repair it to get it out of warranty. Well, we are not done yet!!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

When I first test drove my Jeep, it leaked water from the interior dome lights. It was fixed before I bought it. About a year later, water began pouring out of my interior lights after it rained. I again had it fixed. Now for the third time water is again leaking out of my interior lights. I bought the vehicle brand new. This is ridiculous.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

Whistling sound when air is on (not necesarily ac). High pitched whistling sound is evident any time air is blowing on highest or next to highest setting. A little annoying. . . Sometimes enough to move it to a lower setting just to reduce whistling sound.
