I have a 2013 Jeep Patriot and the engine and temperature light comes on; on top on that it starts to decrease in speed slowing down out of nowhere I just started financing this vehicle and read reviews that others are having the same problem on repeat spending a lot of money on trying to repair the same issues. It's definitely a hazard that is not a solid fix. Hopefully me reaching out can help my problem and others. I am using this vehicle for work so it is very important that it's safe and secures my finances as well.

Pressure plate replaced twice and still not working with only 27301 miles. Went in for routine oil change no problems during the last warranty oil change things start to change. Returned to the dealership to express problem report back oil needed top off. Checked for recalls none reported. Truck continued to drive funny popping out of gear when driving and speed decrease while driving on the interstate. No warning lights or any indication something was wrong. I haven't driven my truck in three years due to dealership not having staff and no one is willing to work on Jeep vehicles. Total waste of money and no support. The sad part the tow truck driver towed my neighbors car and remembered towing my truck and stated he has towed many more since.

2014 Jeep Patriot, was driving streets going 45 mph no issues as soon as I go onto highway and began accelerating the car just lost all power and I was able to cruise it onto side of the highway, check engine light came on. Turned car off restated and tried again to see if it would happen again and as soon as I began accelerating it stalled out. I had some jerking when going uphill in March took it to dealership where they determined spark plugs were the issue, they were replaced and no issues until now. Will be dropping off car to mechaninc to see what the cause of it stalling out may be. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

2015 Jeep Patriot has stalled, lost power, and shut down on me multiple times while driving. The vehicle remained in motion on the street and highway.
Driving on the interstate at highway speed the red lightning bolt warning light came on, as did the check engine and traction control lights and the accelerator cut out. I was able to coast across 3 lanes to the side of the road, but this has happened three times and apparently my 2016 Patriot wasn't included in the recall that addressed this issue.

My 2016 Jeep Patriot hesitates and jerks when I step on the gas pedal. Sometimes it will not go over 40 mph. When I stop then let off the brake the vehicle jumps forward without stepping on the gas pedal. It runs sluggish. There are three lights on the dashboard lite up. The engine light, the lightning bolt and the traction light.
While driving home from work on the interstate yesterday at about 60mph, my Jeep suddenly loss power and started shaking. It wouldn't accelerate at all. I had to quickly put my flashers on as to not cause an accident while I tried to pull into the emergency shoulder. I turned the car off for a few minutes then restarted it to drive home.
Driving on the interstate at 75mph when my wife had a red lighting bolt appear on the dash board, at which time the powe dropped off. She had to move across two lanes of trafic with no power. Once it was on the shoulder, she called me in a panic. I went on the internet and found out how to reset the throttle boby assemnbly. The vechilce started back up and was able to drive it home. It was a very dangerous and scray experiance. I called Jeep dealership and to my surprise they was no recall for this issue. The internet was full of people who had this very issue. I call their corporate service line and they confirmed no safety recall exists. They told me they could not confirm whether they would or would not self report this issue.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 45 mph , the vehicle did not accelerate, but was idle. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact had to coast to the side of the road, waited few minutes and then restarted. The contact also mentioned that the failure occurred five times on 03/02/20 and it had been doing it for the past week and a half daly. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000. Bp.
This vehicle dies constantly while driving. Doesnt matter the speed, 5mph or 75mph, it will die out of no where. Its incredibly dangerous, I cannot tell you how many accidents this has almost caused. It apparently is a known and frequent problem with these SUV's that needs to be corrected! I've had different codes come up at different times. From crankshaft position sensor to O2 sensor to throttle body to catalytic converter. The fuel mileage is suddenly terrible out of no where as well. This is ridiculous. Everywhere I've read about people taking it to the dealership just comes out worse so I'm terrified to take it to Jeep themselves!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while her husband was driving with the cruse control, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The cruse control failed to turn off. The vehicle continue to accelerated, the brake pedal was depress to bring the vehicle to a stop and was able to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normal. The contact called stephen wade Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram fiat dealer, (1724 hilton dr, st. George, ut 84770) and schedule an appointment. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. Aw.
My car doesn't accelerate like it should and getting on the highway or trying to speed up on highway, the car stalls and doesn't want to go. The rpm doesn't go anywhere and the car jerks a lot. It happening more everyday than before when it would only happen ever so often.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving at various speeds with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle hesitated and loss motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to victorville motors (14617 civic dr, victorville, CA 92394, (760) 843-8317) however, was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was 110,000.
I was in motion and the trans temp light light up and my car began to stale in the middle of the highway. I was traveling alone and 4 hours away . This was very dangerous. I could have been hit by a passing truck. Luckily, I was in the left lane and was able to park on the shoulder. I had to search my safety manual to understand what was happening. I had to wait over 30 mins for the light to disengage and drive 55 on the highway. I took it to the shop and there was no signs. I did a google search and realized this is a common issue with the Jeep Patriots. I have heard horror stories of families with little kids being stranded. Please provide some sort of resolution to this eventually costly issue.

The partriot randomly stalls while travelling at any speed. The engine shuts off and car has to coast to a stop. It is extremely dangerous and only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed. Multiple mechanics and the Jeep dealership have no clue as to how to fix the problem. Online research shows this is a major issue for many Jeep owners, not just Patriots. Jeep / Chrysler has a major issue and will not acknowledge or address it. If they refuse to do anything, they should be prepared to pay for their lack of addressing this critical issue. It takes less than a minute to search and see how many people are affected with engine stalling issues with Jeep automobiles. I hope the NHTSA will conduct a thorough review of these issues and force more attention to be given to the serious issue. I bought this car for my daughter and now we can't let her drive it because it is too dangerous. We have spent over $2k trying to address this issue. There are no recalls or other assistance that Jeep can or will offer.

12/12/19 tried to get on I-295 all lights on dash came on including malfunction indicator, esp bas, and others all came on when no lights were on before. Lost power to Jeep on 295 could not go any fast then 25 mph and then stalled; almost rear ended. Could restart Jeep, all dash lights still on, no power past 25 mph and made it off an off ramp where stalled again. Towed Jeep to mechanic where they replaced pcm, intake manifold, and O2 censor. Called Jeep because there is a recall to pcm and was told my VIN not included. 12/26/2019 on I-295 going 70mph and Jeep lost all power with no warning lights this time and had no acceleration. Was in the far left lane and had near miss of being rear ended by tractor trailer. Veered Jeep to breakdown lane and towed to mechanic. Second mechanic repaired ground at g104 on right side of engine bay said is reason for several computerised controls. 1/7/2020 put full tank of gas in vehicle and pulled into intersection and Jeep bucked and stalled out. Called mechanic said possible fuel sensor problem. Jeep Patriots have had issues with pcm and fuel problems but am told my 2009 Jeep not a part of this recall. Jeep is still not running properly and will not drive on highway. Very dangerous and very expansive.
I was driving with my 2 small children home when out of no where my check engine light came on, my "lightning bolt light" came on and my "fish tail" light came on then my engine stalled in middle of the road. Thankfully we were not on a busy road. But I normally am driving the interstate for work. (I work with people with disabilities, including having them in my vehicle. ) the code is letting me know the throttle body control is bad. I looked up recalls and 2014 Jeep Patriots have this recall. But my VIN specifically does not. Therefore I'm not sure if a dealership will cover it. It could have been a devastating accident if we had been on a busy road.
Catastrophic failure of throttle control while driving down the highway. Vechile began to sputter and immediately flashed the lightning bolt warning light dropping from 80mph to 10 mph. This was associated with the vechile violently sputtering. Vechile will start but when drive is engaged at low rpm nothing happens. With acceleration the car will sputter and not get past 15 miles per hour. During sputtering no power steering is avalible and braking is made difficult with sputtering.
I was driving when all of sudden my Jeep Patriot started slowing down, limp and a bit out of my control. 3 lights turned on simultaneously. I pulled over to the side of the road. My engine started shaking and my Jeep sounded odd so I turned it off. I waited a bit and turned it back on. I was able to drive it back home safely as I was less than a mile away. I started doing research and found that many Jeep Patriot owners have gone through the same thing. Apparently it's a throttle body issue that Jeep has failed to recall or take acrion on. I had to pick up my son from school and this time the Jeep went limp after less than half of a mile of driving. I struggled to take my car back home and had to keep turning on and off my car. This is very dangerous I was very lucky to just be in my neighborhood. I bought this car in July. These sort of issues shouldn't already be happening. I now will have to take it to a mechanic and spend hundreds of dollars for something I am not responsible for.
While driving or in a parked position while the engine runs, the rpm needle drops to zero 0 and my car doesn't accelerate when pressing the gas pedal. There are times I am on the highway and rpm drops to zero 0 and I have to pull over on the shoulders. I would have to put the car in park, and shut my car off for extra minutes or more before I can fully restart it. If I try turning the car on before the 2 minutes it would take a longer time to restart. This is very dangerous because the car shut off when I'm at the stop light, in the middle of the highway. When making a turn, and the rpm needle drops to zero 0, my steering wheel becomes so stiff/harden and is very very difficult to complete the turn.

My son is driving on the freeway at 70mph during the summer and all of a sudden, his car literally decelerates. He goes from 70mph to 20mph immediately. This has happened 3 times this summer, 4 times last summer (I have posted before), and multiple times in 2017 (everytime he comes home from college in the summer!). This last time it happened at the beginning of this month (sept), he was almost rear-ended and then almost sideswiped. The dealerships can't duplicate this problem (he's been to two different dealerships), but Jeep knows there is an issue (there are numerous complaints). The car shows no signs of overheating and gives no notice that there is a problem. Once he has sat along the side of the freeway for 1/2 to 1 hour, he can start his car and drive again. When is Jeep going to recognize there is an issue? we have paid to have transmission fluid changed - didn't help. I see that a dealership elsewhere with someone else who had had the same problem figured it out and said that it was the internal oil pump of the transmission that was malfunctioning and causing the overheats. My car is still under warranty and I need to get this fixed before it isn't in December. Please help. Jeep isn't doing anything.
Gas tank cannot be filled up all the way as the car stalls and turns off in less then a mile. The car has no acceleration more then 20mhp and takes a long time in gaining speed when trying to take off after a stop and when changing lanes. Car lacks power when driving on highways, creating traffic and panic in the driver. Car is a hazard on the road and mechanics are aware but no one seems to find the issue and correct.

While driving around parking lot vehicle started to run extremely rough almost to the point of stalling. Became very hard to drive including loosing stearing and brake function causing vehicle to loose control and coming to a stop into a bush. Warning lights came on on the dash at the time, traction control light and electric symbol. Dealer stated throttle body needed to be replaced and that it was a common repair they had seen many times. Was not covered under warranty which left me with a $1000 repair bill. Huge safety concern. Called up Jeep customer service and they were completely unwilling to cover any costs of the repair or admit there was any issue. Thankfully this issue did not happen while driving on the highway or I could have been seriously hurt.
I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot sport 2. 0l 4cyl wuth a cvt transmission. I bought it used certified in Feb 2018. About a month into owning the vehicle it started to buck and jerk. The car shakes while on idle and there is a loud helicopter sound coming from the back of the car. I took to to 3 different Jeep dealer and nobody could tell me what was wrong with the car. About 3 months after that the engine stalled without any warning. This happened as I turned on my street to go home. I had to wait a few minutes and it turned it back on and drove as if nothing happened. I took it to local mechanic and he could not find anything wrong with the car. The vehicle was not firing any codes nor was there any warning lights on the dash. The latest incident happend on August 18, 2019 drving home from a camping trip. I had 2 passengers in the car with me. The car bucks and jerks while on the highway and the car stalls while im drving the speed limit at 60 mph. Thankfully I was in the slow lane and was able to pull over to the right. After being all shaken up, again I had waitied a few minutes and car started and drove as if noting happend. It was one of the scariest things I have ever experienced. I have taken it to local mechanics and they dint know whats wrong with it. So I am currently drving my car and wondering when the car will stall again. It still bucks and jerks, feels like it will stall so I take my foot off the gas peddle and that seems to help. I no longer drive this car on the highway as I am scared to death of getting into a car accident. I strictly use this car to travel to and from work. I am tired of sending this car to the dealerships and mechanics with no resolutions. I want to trade this car in, but am afraid for the next person. I think this car needs to be recalled. These cars should not be on the road period!!.
Vehicle stalls while driving unexpectantly, while driving and leaves no recourse or corrections for the driver to be made. Power to all of the vehicle systems stayed on whilst all the controls of the vehicle were removed from the driver. Eventually restarted. But refuses to start after being stationary again. Was driving down a city street when my car just stalled out on a straightaway. Finally restarting and making it home, and now not starting again.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. While driving approximately 35 mph, the speed suddenly reduced and the vehicle would not properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to hearn stein Jeep (215 west emmitt Ave, waverly, OH) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Three times our 2011 Jeep Patriot sounded like something broke then went into limp mode. We were on a busy freeway twice and getting ready to get on once. After calling good sam roadside assistance they sent a tow truck to a mechanic. We had two different mechanics at 2 different times and they could not get any codes on it. A few years back when on a different incident we went into limp mode and ended up replacing the control module which fixed it. This time was different. I was done after three times. We ended up trading it in for a new Honda crv. Will never buy another Jeep again. We are surprised they never recalled the problem with the control module. I have all receipts and proof.
2 incidents same day. Vehicle in motion, lost of control, poor response of steering wheel, brakes not responding, engine and/or electrical system not working properly. Engine cutting off. Tipm problem. Esc and engine lights on. Sounds of car surging. No acceleration in some cases and uphill in particular. We could have got killed if it had happened on the highway for sure.
I went to start my car and there was no power even with a jump. After replacing the starter, battery, relays, eginition switch, thermostats, alter alternator and throttle body the issue continued. On the hwy the temp light comes on and has issues accelerating and when you try to start it click seems like it's not going to start and finally does. The battery light stays on. And just over all jerky and lights dim.
The car would hesitate when accelerating and slow down to a very low speed before bucking and thrusting until the speed would increase. The slowness was slow enough on a highway to almost cause an accident.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abrupt deceleration to 10 mph and experienced an immediate loss of power. After the deceleration occurred, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to (lindsay Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram 8100 centreville rd, manassas, va 20111 (888) 241-6888) and was diagnosed with the vehicle needing a throttle replacement, a part that had previously been replaced. The contacts states that the dealership said they would notify the manufacturer of the failure. The failure mileage on the vehicle is 87,000. Jo.
My complaint is that a week later after we bought the vehicle the check engine light came on. We went to a mechanic to read us the signs and has so many issues wrong with it and the miles are low on the vehicle but really high on history. Water comes inside my vehicle making it flood. Also when we drive we try to accelerate and the speed stays at 20mph and makes ticking noise. This is not safe especially when I'm with my kids. I try switching lanes and it takes time to switch lanes or make turn because of how slow the acceleration is.

I accelerated up to 30 mph on a city street and then coasted up to traffic and was slowing down, at the light and my car all the sudden turned on 3 lights the traction control light, check engine light and the trottle position light. I stopped my car at the light and once I did the car jerked forward sending me into the intersection. Lucky no one was coming but I ended up having to run the red light because my car jerk forward again and once I gave it gas it only got worse. I pulled off into a parking lot and turned my car on and off a few times to reset the computer. It finally did after turning it on and off five times. All the lights went off. So I tried to drive it to work and once I drove down the city road a little ways (maybe a mile). The car jerked and attempted to shift up and then downshifted and my engine then reved to five thousand rpm. And all the lights turned back on and my car jerk violently back and forth. The rpm's stayed at three to four thousand reving my engine needlessly. I finally pulled off the road into a parking lot and had to have my car towed to a shop. The Jeep certified mechanic replaced the throttle body. I have heard of a lot of other people with this issue.
Takata recall the tcm on my Jeep Patriot short-circuited out of nowhere and now it causes my transmission gears to slip while I'm driving and makes my rpms rev really high wow my acceleration is minimum meaning when I put my foot on the pedal and press the rpms jump really high and my car barely even picks up speed I was driving on a city street and all of a sudden I felt something was wrong that's when I noticed the rpms revving really really high while my car was slowing down it's never done it before and it causes traffic because my vehicle will run real slow and takes almost me having to put my pedal to the ground just so I can speed up enough to get out of the way so when I got home I hooked up an obd monitor to my car and it said lost tcm communication now I can't even drive my car because I'm afraid I'm going to blow up the engine or something.
