1 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2026

I previously had this same issue August 2024 (associated complaint 11608428). My rear drivers side tail light is out completely-no brake light, reverse, turn signal, or nighttime tail light is working. I spent nearly $800 to replace part 68599920aa, as the entire motherboard was fried, as were the connectors from overheating. I’ve located several other complaints with similar issues: 11585014; 11142232; 11023686. This is clearly a defective issue with Jeep Renegades and a safety concern that should be a recall.

2 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2024

Received warning that rear drivers side taillights, reverse light, parking light, and turn signal were out. Changed all 3 bulbs related and still didn’t work. Looked at the circuit board and connector and the center pin is burned out. Searching Jeep Renegades and this is a common issue with many model years of the Jeep Renegade. This appears to be a defect the manufacturer should be responsible for through a recall.

3 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2024

Both fog lights have had to be replace due to the inside reflectors getting so hot, the bulbs are melting them with the potential to cause a fire. This vehicle is a 2015 bought brand new and has 52000 miles on it.

4 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2023

Rear brake and back up light assembly ground wire shorted and burned out. This caused all of the lights in the assembly to go out and sent multiple warnings to the dash board. This short came close to melting wires and the plastic assembly itself.

5 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2022

The drivers side fog light reflector was melted and charred like it was nearly on fire. There was no silver coating on the plastic reflector and it looks like the plastic was absorbing all the heat of the bulb.

6 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

My fog lamps housing melted. The entire inside of both housing are melted due to heat from the bulbs. My lenses are black. It cost me 225. 00 for new parts and that does not include labor. How long before these new ones melt again? hopefully it does not cause more damage and short my car out or catch on fire.

7 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2019

If you have small children do not load them in this Jeep! when accelerating from a dead stop will struggle to get up to speed and sounded like I was rear ended at a high speed. I got out of the Jeep to see if something fell off. Transmission sounds and feels like its slipping. Not every time but it happens so often it has made me feel unsafe and I do not go out of town or long trips over 45 miles away from home. . Every time I take it to the shop and ask whats going on they say its how the Jeep Renegade was made, its normal for it to do all this.

8 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2019

Tire pressure system needs service, parking lights out, daytime driving lights out.

9 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2018

Daytime/park running light has blown out 3-4 times since purchasing it in 2015. I have taken it to the dealership to have it looked at and all they do is replace the bulb. I am now out of warranty and the bulbs continue to blow out. I only have 75k miles on this truck. Not to mention, I have owned several vehicles throughout my life and I have never had a change a light bulb of any kind on any of my previous vehicles like I do with the Renegade. Seriously thinking about trading this in for a totally different brand of vehicles altogether.

10 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2018

Fan stopped working causing car to overheat and smoke while idle. Cannot drive the car. Also have had a problem with the day time running light blowing out. Had the light fixed three times in a few months and blew a fourth time. Took it to the dealership every single time and it's currently out bc they obviously don't know how to fix it so it's a waste of time.

11 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2017

My 2015 Jeep Renegade has 43k miles on it and I am on my 3rd transmission, my radiator electrical fan has gone out twice, inside dash flashes warning lights like rear brake like not working, head lights not working, plus the car has shut off twice will driving.

12 Exterior Lighting problem

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Renegade. While the vehicle was stationary, it stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred on numerous occasions while driving and while stationary. In addition, there were several electrical failures with the lighting and the door locks. On a separate occasion, the contact stated that the windshield was replaced. Several unknown dealers were contacted about the series of failures over a period of 15 months ever since the vehicle was purchased. The dealers could not duplicate the failures. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that the matter was in the legal department of Chrysler. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 3,240.

13 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2016

Approximately one month after purchasing my 2015 Jeep Renegade trailhawk, I began having trouble with the electrical system. The battery has died four times, the key fob(s) work intermittently, the engine has shut off on its own, the clock continuously resets the date/time, and the windows have stopped working once. I have been forced to use Jeep's roadside assistance twice due to dead batteries. This weekend, the heater stopped working and it does not turn on. These continuous problems substantially impairs both the use and value of my car. Additionally, it presents a significant safety concern for my family; winter is upon us and my wife utilizes this vehicle to transport our two children, whom are each under the age of three years old. The thought of them being stranded with no heater due to continuous electrical issues is unnerving. I initially considered this to be an isolated incident; however, I've asked two additional 2015 Jeep Renegade owners if they have encountered any similar instances - both have returned their Renegade to the dealership for servicing due to electrical issues. The dealership informed them the vehicle simply needed a software update. This is not a satisfactory response!.
